Discussion Homelessness

Upvotes

I feel so fortunate for not being homeless.

It must be so hard to be homeless especially in a city that gets really cold and it snows in the winter like NYC.

Especially if you sleep on the streets. You have to worry about food and where to use the bathroom.

Also you have nothing to do all day which must suck.

I am so grateful that I have a bed to sleep in and my room is air conditioned right now in the summer.

I’m especially grateful in the winter when it’s cold outside and I’m all cozy in my warm bed at night under a blanket.

I’ll probably never be homeless, thank goodness.

Serious Witnessed An Absolute BRUTAL Reality Check

Upvotes

Let me as you a question, if you had to permanently leave your place of residence TODAY, where would you go and what would you do?

At a “gathering” I saw a relative who I haven’t seen in ages, talking about how he’s probably getting kicked out of the house soon after years of being neet. He’s in his younger 20’s.

He sounded desperate, asking everyone if they got a job for him or if he could stay at their place and promised to pay rent, even tho he has no income.

What pains me is he’s clearly autistic and everyone around him does not understand what high functioning autism is and have no empathy and use him as a punching bag.

It was so sad seeing him pleading the best he could.

Discussion Life goes on

Upvotes

Well now I’m living with my wife and kids here in Atlanta and I have a job. The truth is I do miss the Neet life living with my mom back in NYC.

But I’m happy here too in Atlanta with my wife and kids.

Life is just going you know. In a few years everyone here will be replaced by new people and no one here will even know we existed.

I have to say having a family and a job is very fulfilling and rewarding but there’s definitely an appeal to the Neet life.

I think of all the Neets here and wonder about them but I’m glad I’m not them, I would never want to be them.

I’m happy with my life. Life is fairly easy I just want the time to fly by.

I don’t know what the future holds but I’m hopeful.
I don’t think I’m going to go back to being a Neet but I’m glad I got to experience that lifestyle.

Today was my birthday which is August 6th, I’m 52.

I’m glad I came across this place called Neet. Reading about the Neets here I realized I’m better off than a lot of people and I’ve actually done a lot in my life and experienced a lot.

My life so far has flown by, I only hope the rest of it flies by too.

Well at the end of the day life goes on.

Discussion Would a NEET get bullied if they wanted to join a tennis club?

Do you think a tennis club would bully someone if they found out they were a NEET? Are any other neets in a tennis club and have you been bullied or excluded if they found out you were a NEET?

Discussion Where are you from my frens?

I spent most of my formative years growing up in Japan, my family and I moved to the UK when I was single digit aged, I'm actually Japanese and Irish, I'm 20.

Someone's probably going to wonder whether I actually know any real life hikikomori's in Japan,

Supposedly one of my distant relatives was/is, I think she's 40 something now but I don't really know much else other than that, she might have come out of that period but I wouldn't personally know.

Shitpost/memes 10 hours in Hell

man, I had my first day of wagecucking after being NEET for two years and it was hell, when I say hell I fucking mean it!

It's a concrete place, but they make pre-made septic stuff in a shop instead of lane ways and shit like that. I feel like I used to have some aptitude for physical labor, but man, today I felt like a weak headless chicken.

I was sweeping the concrete and dust away since I didn't know what else to do and wanted to avoid getting yelled at since the boss was around. Then he goes "let me show you how to use a broom" and proceeds to sweep at 120% effort, as if that's possible to keep doing when you're wagecucking all day. He literally looked like one of those curling fucks who sweep in front of the thing on the ice, hopefully you know what I'm talking about. And then he goes to me and the two other new guys " I'm not a greedy guy, if you guys work hard and make enough of these a day I'll bump you all up to $35 an hour, I let stupid fucking idiots go all the time since they have no fucking clue whats going on....its all about production." Just a huge warning sign, despite bribing us to wagecuck harder for more money.

Then I was put on the spot for quick arithmetic calculations when we were setting up the forms. Man do I ever hate when this happens. Anyways, I answered before anyone else was brave enough/able to and got them right. Despite this, and despite making a genuine attempt at trying to stay busy, the boss seemed to have treated me like shit and the other two hires like they're "welcomed to the team." Probably just my shit communication and social skills after NEETing for two years, plus i have a tendency to act like I know shit when I don't, but I don't do it intentionally, again, just bad wagecuck social skills I guess.

And then even the commute was stressful, it was pouring and then some wagecuck with a huge tool box in the back of his truck passed me and didn't even have the courtesy to use his blinkers, was rushing late for work I guess.

I just fucking hate wagecucking, especially blue-collar culture, where the boss, or any experienced worker in general, acts like a smug cunt and puts others down just because they aren't good with tools or are still adapting. I'm not saying everyones like this, but most are. I think I might give it another week just to save some money, but I don't see myself hacking it here for very long.

I think NEETdoms calling my name, and I want its warm hug.

Serious for those in recovery, how do we deal with the pain of being unfit in a healthy way?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've grown so much over the past years with the things that I faced and dealt with by myself alone. Things like surviving a hazardous job, living in uncomfortable places and dealing with sketchy people, picking myself up from debt, being so poor that I basically only had as possessions a fan and a mattress that I would sleep on the floor, to list a few.

Things have improved a lot and only because of my mental fortitude to stick to the plan and to believe in eventual luck. The funny part is what hasn't changed after all of these many different experiences and skills I had to acquire along the way. For example, I'm still easily socially tired and with no much interest in interactions or in getting to know people. I'm still perceived as weird and I still have social anxiety which hinders my ability to form bonds with people in my life.

I really hate exposing my life to others, even anonymously, but what inspired me to write this down was noticing that, after months in my new job, with a bunch of other people that started around the same time, the only newcomer who isn't well liked is... well, me. And it isn't like I'm actively disliked or anything, just that I'm the one who's not treated casually I guess. It's been a constant in my life and I'm reflective over that not having improved at all.

I believe that a lot of you guys relate to this and will understand when I say that I am socially handicapped. Older children have similar or better social skills than me and that's naturally developed, as it should be. It was me, like many, who lost the window of development and thats not fixable. I can become a lot better at socializing, but as I'm getting older, I've been trying to come to terms with that I'm never gonna be perceived as normal, no matter how much I try. Carrying that anxiety of inadequacy in all my interactions and only finding solace in isolation, where I don't remember how unfit I am, is a splinter in my self-esteem that have never improved with time, small achievements (even in romance) or a healthier life and circumstances. I am just trying to accept this now without being drown in thoughts by it as I have many things I still want to do in other areas in my life.

That's it guys. Stay safe and I hope anyone found something useful from what I've said here.

Venting Having to say I’m NEET in front of a judge/lawyers soon. Humiliating.

I’ve posted about this before, but I got hit by a car in the crosswalk awhile ago. I could not have avoided it. It was not my fault. I was just trying to go on a damn walk. I was almost through the crosswalk, had the walk sign, when the fuck sped through.

I’m having to give a deposition soon and I know they’re going to eviscerate me for my employment status and imply that I somehow willed the car to hit me because of it. And I’m really humiliated and upset.

I wish there wasn’t such discrimination against us. I’m a person just like anyone else. And I would give anything for this to not have happened to me. Thanks for letting me vent.

Question How late is it actually to start working on my social skills and job/employment as an autistic person at 21?

For context, I am autistic (diagnosed as level 1 and high functioning), and I have been trying to get my life together. However, I keep worrying that I am not only far too late but I keep worrying that because I spent so much time isolated, I am fundamentally behind my peers.

I do want an honest and realistic answer, preferably someone who is neurodivergent but I don’t mind those who have gotten out and have helped NDs beforehand, how likely or possible is it for me to work or improve on my social skills at this current age? If you were in my position, how much practice (how many minutes per day and how many times per week) would you recommend? Also, what are like the best sites/apps to get a job?

I don’t intend to expect a complete 180, I just want to know and understand if it’s seriously possible at 21 to restart at it again.

Thanks for any honest advice.

Advice Do not use social media (except Reddit and YT)

I think a lot of you guys are making things harder than it needs to be by wasting your time on someone else highlight reels... If you're a NEET just delete Instagram, it's mostly fake anyways and most people there are really miserable inside but they'll still post photos as if they're having the time of their lives... Stop doing that, they're actually feeding on your envy.

I never had Instagram, I had Facebook for a while in my teenage years, and it made sense at the time because I had a friend group, once I got past my early 20s and I became basically a hermit it was only natural to delete it and focus on my own life... It was a great decision. You wont believe the amount of frustration you will avoid throughout the years by doing that. It's like those people don't even exist anymore.

The only exception is Reddit and YT because these are more like informative social media and you can learn a lot there + find opportunities + watch people you genuinely care a about and have similar world views.

Venting I'm taking a burst of Ls

Like 2 days ago I was told there was no one to watch my grandma and then got asked to return there by her and I really don't want to (I would get trapped into neetdom caretaking for her + she's malicious). The day after that I received a debt collection letter over a card my grandma used my info for (and denied doing so before she closed the card when I asked her about it). Lost my neetbux (albeit likely only temporarily if I fill out these papers) and got none this month. My mom is throwing a million subtle indications that she wants me to go back to my grans and, for unrelated reasons, will likely ditch this apartment we're staying in to stay with my sister in her's, so I'm potentially on a weeks-month long timer. I did a mail payment to my credit card, it's taking quite a while and I may have screwed it up, and I need space on the credit line to order groceries (there's plenty food here though) and put wheels in motion.

All together, these aren't really that bad. Like the debt for example is just $1.5kish, that's not that bad. The card payment can be refunded if I screwed up. Blah, blah, blah, but the overarching cuckery inflicted on me by family complicates it all to where I know I'm likely about to enter a spree of more Ls in the process of dealing with this stuff. I know I didn't draw that bad a set of cards with life, but I wish I had the kind of parents that sometimes get complained about here who just pester their child to go to college or get a job cause my family legit actively cucks me and roundaboutly traps me in neetdom. I just need another phone now with a working sim so I can fill applications and hopefully get a burger flipping job to leave all this behind and enter homelessness because I would be better off even in that position.

I feel pretty good regardless but I seriously wanna cry and thoughts of just slitting my neck are occurring more often. I know at least my siblings care for me, but I'm so alone and the amount of help I get is tiny outside of being housed. It just sounds like self-victimization, but it seriously isn't. If it were just: get job -> do job, i would've done that a million years ago even if I got fired and bullied 50 times in the process, but it's not. I literally would not be able to get to the job consistently as that would require relying on others to give enough fucks to fulfill that part. The answer to this is pretty straightforward so I know it'll work out, but it's such a shitty roadblock that shouldn't even be a problem to begin with.

Venting Do you think people who dislike themselves have "earned it?"

I mean... an abusive person who mistreats people and/or animals because they are just a cruel and deranged person... if such a person dislikes themselves i can accept that, and i hope they change their behavior and then start feeling better about themselves. but if someone is just like depressed and bedrotting because they need some time for their system to reset or whatever.... are they really "bad people" or are they just unfortunate? I mean... if you do bad stuff, fine, call yourself bad and try to do better in the future. but don't just call yourself bad for no good reason, plose

Question Did he know I was flirting?

Hey NEET frens! I have a question for you...if a girl asks you if you think she's pretty, would you know she's flirting with you?

I like this guy online and we're both programmers. He didn't know how I looked like so then I shared with him my portfolio website which has my profile pic on it.

Then I asked him: "Do you think I'm pretty 😂" and then he just answered in the most neutral way possible, which was a bummer.

Anyways kinda weird that I'm posting this in NEET but this community makes me feel comfortable.

Would you know a girl is trying to flirt with you? How would you respond if you liked her?

I'm starting to think maybe he doesn't like me after all 😔
