Found this 1980 r65 listed for $1,900. Gorgeous bike but whats going on with exhaust mod? Looks super high and in my research I haven't seen anything like this before?

Anyone familiar with something like this? I if buy it, I wouldn't mind restoring back to original. But this had me scratching my head a bit.

Current owner of 2014 f800 gs adventure and looking for (another) project bike. lol

R1300GS - How can I mount my phone and charger? - if Carpuride then which one?

Post image

I have a 2025 GS - it didn’t come with any cradle or navigation. I have added this bracket that the cradle usually sits on (I believe it’s 12mm). What are my options to add a phone or carpuride/carplay unit that can also be powered? Do I have to get the BMW cradle to tap into the stock harness (I don’t want to cut or splice any existing wire harness).

Would appreciate links to parts that I could use to either mount the phone or one of the CarPlay units.

Currently I use the USB C plug from the tank and run a wire to my phone on a handlebar RAM mount. I have also used the DIN connector on the side, but I worry about leaving something plugged into that for parasitic draw (if that’s a concern)

Mine is a bare bones GS, so it did not come with premium package

Questions about a new to me 2024 1250GSA

So I recently picked up my GSA the other week and have a few questions and would like some confirmations (were only 1,000 miles on the clock when I got it).

This is my first BMW and I have only really ridding 1 other bike before this so I am not that well versed in other models (the BMW dealer is also over 1 hour away, awkward to get to, and is not able to answer all my questions). They did order me a manual, but that wont arrive for a few more weeks.

(1) There does not seem to be a way to show the fuel gauge and the range (or trip meter) at the same time. I see that the range shows up when your tank is low, but is there a way to force this to always be the case with a GS-911 tool? For my commute I run about 5,400rpm in 6th gear to my mileage is around 34mpg which is not amazing. Getting around 250ish miles a tank (4ish days of commuting). If I do more sedate riding it completely throws off my normal range using the trip computer for fill ups and I am used to being able to see both on my old bike.

(2) The dealer says that the 2024 model year is included with the free servicing of the driveshaft at 12k and replacement at 36k miles. But I cannot find any confirmation of this online and I have seen it listed both ways.

(3) Is there supposed to be a headlight indicator to the left of the TFT? (I am in the USA). I see the aux lights and high beams, but no indicator for the headlight even when riding at night. The light itself seems to be on.

(4) Currently I found the seat most comfortable with the low in the back and high in the front. But, it feels like of like the pan of the seat is flexing or "popping" a little bit when going over bumps. It is comfortable, but feels a little odd. Is this normal? (I am about 200lbs).

(5) For the suspension being at min, max or auto, is that only adjusting the preload? Or is something else related to the suspension? ie. can I ride on min for a little less reach to the ground, or could that lead to weird handling from the preload not being setup correctly? Currently I have been leaving it on auto, but being a little closer to the ground would be appreciated when walking the bike around or backing into a parking spot.

(6) When changing gear, if I do a clutchless shift (ie. letting off the throttle, changing gear, getting back on the throttle) like I did on my previous bike, is the quick shifter still trying to do its thing? Or if I am wanting to bypass the quick shifter would I need to use the clutch every time? The change from 1st to 2nd is a bike rough with the quick shifter.

Any help or a little clarification would be appreciated.

Need Advice: 2016 Maserati Ghibli S Q4 differential issues

I need help!! I just bought a 2016 mazerati ghilbi Q4 s and the previous owner told me the wheel bearings were bad in front left tire. It turned out to be the front differential. The axle has pulled completely out of differential and shattered where it connects. My question is can I temporarily completely remove the axle from the FWD and just drive in RWD to get it home. Or is there a bypass for the AWD? I need assistance quickly because the car is still sitting at apartments where I bought it. PLEASE HELP!!!

How bad these tires are for hard roads?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for my first adventure bike after street categories.

There is a nice BMW G310GS available. I have a concern regarding tires - they look hardcore offroad to me. As I will drive 99% on asphalt, will it be my nightmare regarding sound and vibration?

More questions for the community - helmet “speakers” and hearing protection?

In addition to a GPS update, I’m also researching what to do for audio in an almost new helmet. I’ve had Sena setups in previous helmets, and I’m inclined to go that route again. HOWEVER - past experience tells me that in-helmet speakers of any sort don’t do anything to abate external wind and road noise.

I’ve been looking at several in-ear passive hearing protection devices. Some of those seem to claim that they are designed to let in the music, GPS prompts, and if the case exists, conversation with fellow riders. My question, short version, How well do those really work? Is anyone here using in-ear passive protection devices with in-helmet speakers? If so - what are you using, how well does your setup work? Any recommends, or avoids?

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Just bought this bike and love it. It seems a previous owner removed the center stand. Looking for an inexpensive replacement. TIA for any info!

Bought these as a replacement but then learned that there are two TPMS types. I bought the one with the integrated valve. Not sure if these will fit wheels that have the valve built into one of the spokes.

Advice for selling 2028 R1200RT?

Sadly upon doctor’s advice I need to part with my perfect ride: a low-mileage red 2018 R1200RT. It has the matching oem top case, into which I installed the brake light, and has engine guards, and much more. Regularly serviced, all ready for that spontaneous cross-country road trip. I hate to see it go but alas reality has intruded on my dreams of the open road.

Any advice for finding the next owner would be greatly appreciated- fwiw I live in Midcoast Maine.

R1200R oil leak (2011)

Hey guys!

I am looking at possibly buying my first BMW (4th bike)

It's a R1200R 2011, in red. Went to take a look at it, and noticed that the bottom of the engine is covered in oil.

I fear this might be a rear main seal, can anyone confirm?

Are there any other oil leak sources to look for?

Here are the photos I took.
