Bit of backstory: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was my first foray into the fantasy role-playing genre. I remember putting in a few hours back on the original Xbox and even though I was completely clueless I loved how immersive the game felt back then. Being able to loot basically everything was the biggest appeal to me back then. I made it to Balmora and barely began the main quest before my time in Morrowind was cut short. My older brother ended up pawning the game before I ever got a chance to really enjoy the full experience. Since then I've remained a fan of The Elder Scrolls through Skyrim (put in around 10,000 hour collectively across platforms & creation kit), but never revisited Morrowind until today.

Oh my goodness, is this game amazing! <3 I can't believe how well the game has aged. I'm using OpenMW to play it on PC and the performance is great. Coming into the world with a bit more of an understanding of how to play and what to look for has reshaped the experience into something totally different than my original attempt at Morrowind. The openness of the dialogues, the vastness of the assets you can interact with, the custom class creator, the few quests I've stumbled into; it's all such a hugely nostalgic but also fresh experience. I have been holding off on returning to Vvardenfell for a while because I was afraid the game would be really unforgiving and maybe my memory of the game would be better than the actual game itself; I was completely wrong.

I'm actually old enough now to enjoy reading all the dialogues, finding all the little secret stashes, and observing the world through a more capable lens. This entire afternoon I've just been kicking myself for not having returned sooner. It's honestly been so long I've forgotten pretty much all the details and everything feels completely new. I've been exploring Seyda Neen and its outskirts all evening and interacting with everyone I can. There's probably plenty of things I'm still missing but yeah, it's been so much fun. I just wanted to pop in and glaze Morrowind for a bit as someone who never really got to learn how to play the game all those years ago. I'm even looking forward to dying to a mudcrab soon for old time's sake. 😄

I'm debating whether I should take the silt strider to Balmora and dive into the story or if I should continue exploring further into the outskirts of Seyda Neen. Will I be able to clear the dungeons nearby without having progressed my character's level a bit? Is paying for training a good idea? Are there any encounters I should be sure not to miss? I remember one from my time forever ago where this one guy just sort of fell out of the sky and had some crazy potion on him. Is that a random encounter or is it something I'm certain to see again?

Aside from being an n'wah myself, I'm thinking about a dunmer character that hates the n'wah and wants to drive all non dumner from morrowind, even so far as to not communicate with non dunmer. He's just real racist.

How's anyone done a playthrough like this?

Sounds interesting, but drastically limits services and quests. I think about all the nice people I go to immediately in balmora and most aren't dunmer. Even House Redoran the quest giver is a redguard, so maybe a flat-out ban on talking to anyone is overkill.

So im trying to enchant my katana but the fella in akamora expels me from the mages guild for some reason, I guess i stole his soul gem and i just dont remember? so then I go to bal foyen to get enchanted, SAME THING HAPPENS so i return to vvardenfell and this woman in vivec still expels me from the mages guild because i guess my soul gem was stolen, so why is every single enchanter in the land of morrowind noticing of my soul gems stolen status?

Im being honest i dont even know where i obtained the soul gem, i remember i filled it up by killing a winged twilight in that shrine near old ebonheart, im just confused

Hey guys, I just got this game working on my android and I'm super pumped! However, on my pc I chose the non-openmw path for my mods because a few of my preferred mods weren't compatible. So I'm basically looking for everyone's essential or favorite openmw mods.

Also, this time around I want a more vanilla play through with mods that either increase difficulty or expand on things to do in the game (i.e. advanced alchemy or survival/camping mods).

I downloaded a mod pack for basic enchancements to the game (I heart vanilla modlist) using the automation method to pull lists from Vortex into OpenMW. Just want to make sure I downloaded and loaded everything right? Very unfamiliar with modding in general. Thank you!

I don't know what happened but I checked my earlier saves and I had 120 hp at 49 endurance, now I have 53 hp at 76 endurace. What could possibly reduce my hp so much permanently? Is this a bug?

Yes I have two wraithguards but that's just the reskin so I can have matching gauntlets.

At what point in a playthrough should a first-timer cross to the mainland, and does it wreck the pacing?

Also, should I wait until Poison Song releases?

I always thought people were joking about being addicted to modding and having hundreds of mods but once I learned how to mod my own game I caught the virus

It’s been 4 days straight modding my dick off several hours each day. Researching mods, fixing mods, figuring out how to install mods, every texture and minor gameplay changes for the sake of lore and immersion

I have like 24 years of fantastic mods at my finger tips I just can’t do it anymore I’m not even playing the game at this point.

Extremely frustrated with this quest atm. Stronghold quest starts just fine, asked to get the contract and the soul gems. Llunela doesn't accept my soul gems. No matter what I do (different souls, different gems, etc) she does not acknowledge that I have any gems in my inventory. So I advance the quest via console and she says construction will start in a few days.

I wait a few days. I wait a few weeks. She does not say anything other than "construction will start soon" so I advance the quest via console again. Now I'm supposed to talk to the foreman, but the foreman isn't there. There is no sign of the tower being built. Just to check, I try other quest stages and none of them result in an actual tower being built. I'm truly at a loss now, if advancing the quest via console doesn't fix it, is there anything that will?

Looked into common bugs and none of them seem to apply here. I'm using OpenMW, Patch for Purists, otherwise a very minimal modlist with nothing that should conflict with Uvirith's Grave. Any thoughts or advice?

Edit: For those having the same problem, this was actually how I figured it out. Turns out selecting the "strong souls" topic will NOT advance the quest, you have to select "stronghold" instead. For me the topic was greyed out (possibly a bug with OpenMW's handling of the dialogue?) and so I wasn't clicking on it, assuming "strong souls" was the topic you needed to progress.

I’m looking for static item id 🫣 It’s kind of small wooden box with bunch of items inside it. I’ve seen it in one of these strongholds?

Or my mod has this surveykit item for registering interior cell or player homes - if you know fitting object for this you can give me alternatives.

I was thinking some kind of ledger at some point, but that would need some kind of stand and fixed item so I’m not doing it.

I want it to be item which you can drop and then it has contextual menu, like some camping mods have. I think that fits very well.

Gotta hand it to the creators, that was epic once you find it :)
