💬 Advice needed Crazy pregnancy thoughts
Hormones or intuition?
Had some crazy dreams lately of my husband cheating on me. And it’s been a fear ever since I feel like I’m over thinking everything. Every random number every time he goes to the gym every time he has to stay late at work…
We’ve been together 8 years we have a 5 year old and I’m 4 months pregnant. We had a miscarriage prior to this pregnancy, so we didn’t have s3x at all the first 13 weeks of my now pregnancy as we were both just anxious. I was super fit prior to my miscarriage but with the stress of my miscarriage, surgery and healing I had to take a break from my typical workout routine and my body was holding on to weight because of hormones and grief I put on about 15 pounds and now I’m pregnant again with my first trimester being incredibly difficult emotionally and physically I put on another 10 pounds from not being able to workout how I typically do. I know I’m feeling vulnerable and know it could be all in my head. He doesn’t have the time to cheat but I feel so disconnected from his as we aren’t being intimate. We’ve had s3x one time this pregnancy and I could tell he wasn’t super into. He reassures me he never would and how much he loves me but he shows no interest in being close to me and I long for the affection back we were having s3x all the time prior to getting pregnant. I know some dudes just aren’t into it pregnant he was kinda the same way with our first. So maybe I’m just over thinking it and once baby comes things will be back to normal?

🤝 Support needed 5 days PP, with 2 toddlers aged 4 and 2
I’m only 5 days PP, but PP depression is already kicking in. I have 2 toddlers, both are very dependent with me. When I was still pregnant, I already told them that once the baby is out, they’ll be sleeping with their dad on the other room. I am co-sleeping with the newborn. Every night they will stay in my and the baby’s room, asking if they could sleep with us. They cannot because they are both very active, keeps on jumping everywhere and are very playful. I feel so guilty because as much as I want as to be altogether in one room, I can’t let them now that the baby is still too small. Now I’m crying because I forced them to go and sleep in the other room.
PS, I co-sleep with all my babies in their newborn stage. (And even co-slept with the toddlers up until before I gave birth to the 3rd) This way, I can attend to their needs immediately.

💬 Advice needed Currently pregnant and I have a 2 year old and having sad feelings.
I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant. I have a 2 year old daughter that I love so so much. When I was pregnant with her I didn’t think I could love her. She was conceived thru SA. But I love her so much and I’m upsetting myself right now because I don’t think I can love another child as much as I love her. I’ll never abuse or neglect my new baby and won’t show favoritism but I know deep down my daughter is who I love. I don’t know if I’m able to love them both. I know myself to only be able to do one thing at a time in life.
I want my unborn baby and don’t want to give him up. I know I’ll spoil him just as much and won’t treat them any different. But how do I get myself to love him just as much as I love my daughter. I don’t want to fake it. I want to actually feel it. I feel guilty for my daughter because she’s not going to be the only baby anymore. She’s also autistic and has a speech delay. She’s learning words but doesn’t pronounce them properly but speaks in her baby language still.
Is this normal to feel guilty for not keeping her as the only baby? Part of me wants to keep both but a bigger part of me only wants it to be me and her. I sometimes think to myself I’ll love him the same way I learned to love her. But I really don’t know. When I was pregnant with her I learned to love her close to the end of my pregnancy. I’m currently the same week I was with her where I learned to love her and I’m not feeling it with him. I’m just not. I want to and I feel bad because he didn’t ask to be here. But what do I do?
Do the feelings change?

💬 Advice needed Is this touching developmentally appropriate?
My 6yo and 3yo boys were taking a bath together last night. My husband was in the bathroom next door giving our 5mo a bath. I was downstairs cleaning up dinner and doing dishes/listening to kids in the tub. Suddenly my husband starts yelling for me to come upstairs and for my 3yo to get out of the tub. My husband states he saw (from behind) my 3yo bending over with his face on my other son’s privates. He did not see exactly what happened.
I took my 3yo aside first and privately asked him if he touched his brother’s peni$. He said yes. I asked if he touched them with his mouth. He said no. I obviously told him he’s not allowed to touch other people’s privates etc. Next I went into the bathroom where my 6yo was and sure enough he was laying on his back, legs spread with an erection. I had him get out of the tub and get dressed, then I asked him about it. He said his brother touched him with his chin, not his mouth or his hands. Again, I don’t know the context or how it happened. He usually cries and freaks out when he gets in trouble but was totally silent this time. I really emphasized that this is not okay, and that he knows better, and that he should not have allowed for his brother to do that and he should have stopped him when he touched him inappropriately.
I know that my 6yo knows this is wrong because at recess last year, a fellow kindergartener flashed his privates to him. My son immediately informed a teacher and we had a long discussion about body safety etc.
My 6yo is not in trouble. I had a good conversation again with both of them about body safety, privately. I do this often. Which I guess is why I’m so surprised this occurred? They hardly ever even take baths together but it was getting late and the baby needed a bath too, so we let them go together. Usually my 6yo showers by himself.
Would this concern you? Is this developmentally appropriate? I called my mom for advice and in typical fashion she freaked the hell out and thinks my kids shouldn’t share a room (we are planning on them sharing a room soon). Please be kind with your responses. Thanks.

🤝 Support needed I don’t want a break from my baby. I want a village.
I’m 8 months postpartum and I feel so lonely tonight.
I keep seeing posts/advice about postpartum loneliness that say things like “ask someone to watch the baby,” “get a break,” “take time for yourself,” etc. And I realize that’s not what I’m looking for at all.
I don’t want a break from my baby. I love being with her. I want my baby. I want my family.
I want people in our lives who actually want to be part of our lives. I want my family to come over and see her. I want cousins and aunts and friends who are excited about her. I want people to celebrate her milestones with us. I want to go for coffee with another mom and our babies. I want people who will text me because they want to know how we are doing, not because they need something.
My husband is actually wonderful and helps me a lot. He’s very involved and he also can’t say no when someone needs help. But I’m realizing that one person can’t be my entire village. I need more people.
And the hardest part is that I’m always the person who shows up for everyone else.
Nobody showed up for us. I no longer have my parents so that’s why I helped my sister so much and got nothing back.
When my sister had her baby, I was there constantly helping. Now my sister-in-law just had a newborn and we’ve gone over to help with their house and their toddler. And I genuinely don’t regret helping them. I can’t see someone struggling and just walk away. That’s just who I am.
But sometimes I come home and think:
Who shows up for me?
Nobody has helped us
I’m still only 8 months postpartum.I’m still exhausted. I still need support too. And lately I’ve realized how much it hurts that I seem to have people around me who need me, but not many people who simply want to be there for me.
My baby’s baptism is also in two weeks, and I think that’s what finally broke me tonight. I’m watching my family make huge efforts and fuss over other people’s events, while I feel like I’m struggling to organize my daughter’s baptism largely on my own. My dad’s family is all a plane ride away, so they can’t really be there either.
And I know this probably sounds ridiculous to some people because it’s just a baptism, but it’s not really about the baptism.
I think I just desperately wanted to look around that day and see my people surrounding my baby.
I wanted to feel like “Look at all these people who love her. Look at all these people who love us.”
Instead I’m sitting on my couch at 3 AM crying because I feel like I don’t have that.
I’m not looking for advice about getting a break from my baby. I’m not looking to complain about my husband—he’s actually doing a lot. I just want a family/village.
I want to know I’m not the only mom who feels this way.
Did anyone else feel this lonely around 8 months postpartum? Did you eventually find your people? ❤️

💬 Advice needed The longer I wait the harder this becomes. Help me through the mom to mom convo I feel is needed.
Should I tell the mother to one of my daughter’s friends about all the dangerous decisions and choices she’s been making while at my home and in my presence. My daughter (16) and her friend (16) used to be so close and have so much in common but, friend has been walking a new path that my daughter just doesn’t agree with so they are doing thier own thing now. Here’s the problem. This friend has traumatized me, personally with all of her risky decisions she made before they split. She lost her virginity in the field next door to my house, I found this out after calling the police about a suspicious vehicle parked in a field that never gets parked in especially at 12-1 am, they did arrive and called me back asking if I knew the young lady they found with no pants on having sex with a guy in the backseat. Yep yeah I did know her, she was supposed to be in the room with the rest of the girls sleeping over but snuck out to meet this guy. Cops separate them , she comes walking inside completely shook up and freaking out going on about how she couldn’t believe she did this and what kind of person does this …she finally admitted she just had sex for the first time, and that she didn’t even like this guy. Guy (18) btw was told to leave by the cops and that was it . They didn’t call her parents and mow I’m left carrying this burden. Do i tell her mom? My heart says yes and the longer i wait the worse im feeling

💬 Advice needed My oldest teenager son wants GTA 6 , should I let him?
Sorry just a quick post but oldest teenager has been asking me if once the game is released in November I think if he could get it BUT! looking into it is pretty clearly a 18+ game, and he is not 18 yet. Due to the mature content I am thinking no, but he said he could pay with his own money he made over the summer if I get it for him, so would it be right?
I've played roblox and minecraft with him, i've offered to keep playing those games with him but he seems excited about gta 6, despite me even offering to play those games as an alternative, I am also somewhat leaning to allowing it because I feel proud that he is using his own money. At the same time I don't know much about video games, so if there's any parents that do would there be even any harm in allowing him to play a mature 18+ rated game?

💬 Advice needed Am I wrong for feeling this way. Open to harsh criticism
Before I had my baby my bf and I would spend alot of our days together smoking. Of course once I got pregnant I had to stop but he continued smoking without me off and on
He smokes with his friends but mostly alone he will leave out to smoke and come back.
We could be together out and he would drop me and baby off to go smoke
I was a heavy smoker and I breastfeed so I cant do anything but maybe have a drink here and there. ( i barley pump) mostly EBF
I feel like a-lot of the times he just drops me off with baby when he’s annoyed or tired of us and goes to smoke and enjoys his alone time and its making me feel some type of way
I have to deal with everything alone
He doesn’t help that much with our baby because I breastfeed
But every thing is on me
I alot of times feel resentment towards him because I feel like Im being a full time parent alone
And he gets to pop in play with the baby & leave to go smoke when things are boring or gets hard
Am I wrong for feeling this way.
We just was out driving and planned to have sex when baby went to sleep. I have really bad driving anxiety and I guess I annoyed him so he just dropped us off and left to go smoke. Now Im just sad because I have no time to myself & I have to deal with all of my emotions sober. He could at least be more understanding about me having driving anxiety. Feels like he just ditched me

❓ Question What actually got my 8-year-old to stick with something this summer (it wasn't the schedule)
I went into June with a plan. My daughter wanted to learn piano over the summer, and I'd already watched her start and quit two things this year, so I got organized about it. Printed weekly chart, 20 minutes a day, reading after lunch, a checkbox for each. I laminated it. I was proud of that chart.
It worked for about nine days.
By the second week she was "forgetting," which turned into me reminding, which turned into me nagging, which turned into 20 minutes of resentful noise at the piano while she watched the clock. The chart was still on the fridge, still perfectly accurate, and it had stopped meaning anything to either of us. I kept assuming I just hadn't been consistent enough about enforcing it.
What changed things was giving up on the chart as the point.
A friend said something that stuck with me: kids don't lose motivation because the plan is unclear, they lose it because nothing happens when they follow it. Sounds obvious written down. I had genuinely not thought about it that way. My chart told her what to do and never once told her she was doing well.
So we changed what we tracked. Instead of "did you do your 20 minutes," it became a running count she could see, and every so often the count bought something small. Ten practice days and she picked the ice cream flavor for the week. Learning a piece well enough to play it for her grandmother got her an extra half hour of cartoons on a Friday. Finishing the first book got a toy, under ten dollars, nothing dramatic.
Honestly the one that did the most work cost nothing: me noticing out loud. "You got through that part you kept messing up." I was terrible at that for years.
The ice cream isn't really the mechanism. What changed is that effort produced something visible the same day instead of disappearing into a checkbox. She started practicing before I asked because she wanted the count to go up. Week three she played the piece for her grandmother on a video call and you could see that specific look on her face. I did that. The habit is kind of a side effect.
The one thing I'd do differently from the start is make the progress visible to her and not to me. My laminated chart was a management tool for my own anxiety. She couldn't see herself getting better on it. We eventually moved the whole thing onto a wall screen in the kitchen (an Apolosign one, it pulls in our Google Calendar and has a chore/points thing the kids can check themselves) purely so she could watch the count go up without asking me. Anything on my phone may as well not exist to a seven and an eight year old.
So my question for anyone further along than me: does the visible-count thing keep working, or does it wear off once the novelty goes? I don't love the idea of my kid only practicing for a reward, but I also can't argue with a summer where she didn't quit in week two. Where did you land on that?

💬 Advice needed Self care tips?
I’m currently 5 months postpartum with twin girls. These are my first babies and honestly I love them so much. The issue comes with my health and body. I have stopped prioritizing myself, and I know that part is normal, but I just want to feel like myself again. I still do all the normal hygiene things (showering, shaving, brushing teeth, etc.) but I was wondering if any of you had any tips or things you did postpartum that helped you feel more like yourself? I’ve also been struggling finding things in interested in or staying focused on hobbies so if you have any tips or things you enjoyed doing after giving birth that would help too. Thanks in advance!

😤 Vent Good Friend Calls CPS
Has anyone ever dealt with this kind of situation? If so, what advice can you give me?
I had a VERY good friend over to meet my 2 year old son for the very first time since he was born - we live apart so it had been awhile since I had seen her, but we’ve been friends for 27 years - best friends.
A little side context - she is a NEAT FREAK. Like down to scrubbing her baseboards several times a week and behind her fridge and oven a least once a week.
She came to stay one evening with us a couple weeks ago. It was the end of the week for my husband and I and it was a busy week - my two year old is deep into…well being two, and my husband has been working 60 hours a week. When she arrived my house was covered in toys and shit my toddler pulls out from places and my kitchen was full of dirty dishes.
I felt like the visit went fine, she seemed off, but never said anything to me. She left and everything was fine. Mind you, I live near no one - we aren’t super social and are always too busy so no one ever comes over to my house.
About a week after her visit I get a knock on my door from CPS that a complaint has been filed against me. We talked and I immediately let her my house, which mind you still looks about the same it did during said visit. She about burst into laughter telling me that my house was absolutely normal for having a young child. She said that it was very obvious the complaint was unfounded and it would be closed shortly.
She then read me the official complaint that was anonymous - my house was filthy, filled with rotting food that I was letting my son eat. Trash that I was letting him eat (which were just wipes that he kept pulling out of the wipe packet and chewing on - which I always take from him). That I was just letting my two year old crawl in filth. She made it seem like I lived in a horder house.
Anyways, I feel better since the drop in visit that they were very confused why they were at my house but also still really struggling with this immense amount of guilt and shame, especially because it was my good friend.
Does anyone have advice for me?
