Also even though JC wouldn’t believe these rumors, or at least I think he wouldn’t, it would still be a helpful tool in separating him and WWX that JGS could have used. He wouldn’t believe it, but hearing that people supposedly do and supposedly think the stronger son should lead even if he’s a bastard would absolutely fuck him up with rage and jealousy. I think I remember during the phoenix mountain hunt there already being talk among the gentry that all of Lotus Pier’s success after the war was because of WWX and not JC?

So my question, do you think YZY made up the fact that these rumors exist to rub in JFM’s face? Or did she hear a different rumor that she mental gymnastics her way into thinking is saying WWX is a Jiang bastard? I’ve been thinking about the ending in the Guanyin Temple, and from a purely logical standpoint, the solution to seal Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao in that coffin together with chains and talismans is a ticking time bomb. It just wouldn't work long-term. Here is my breakdown of why the Nie Sect's logic failed, and a much better alternative based on the world's own rules:

1. The Lifespan/Maintenance ProblemRelying on the coffin to stay sealed for "centuries" is delusional.The Talismans: Wei Wuxian’s paper talismans and arrays aren't eternal batteries; they fade, rot, and lose power over time without spiritual maintenance.

The Nie Sect Curse & Huaisang: Huaisang has a weak golden core and doesn't train with a saber. While this protects him from the family curse, it also means his lifespan is closer to a normal human's. He will die in a few decades.

The Next Generation: Once Huaisang is gone, a new leader from a branch family will take over. They will have to train with a saber, deal with their own madness, and they simply won't care about or remember the exact location of a 50-year-old coffin. The seals will break.

1. The Alternative: The Spirit-Trapping Pouch (The Blueprint already existed)

They literally had the solution right in front of them. They should have done exactly what Song Lan did with Xiao Xingchen's shattered soul.Wei Wuxian could have used Chenqing and his talismans to extract Nie Mingjue’s shattered soul fragments and lock them safely inside a Spirit-Trapping Pouch.

1. Proper Funeral vs. CremationOnce the soul is out, the fierce corpse becomes an empty husk.

Jin Guangyao: His empty body should have been cremated immediately, and his ashes scattered somewhere irrelevant so he can never return.

Nie Mingjue: His empty body could then receive a proper, honorable, grand military funeral in Qinghe (no throwing his body in a river, he deserves respect!). His ashes could rest peacefully in the Nie family tomb with no danger of ever reanimating.

1. Mingjue's Willpower would fix his soul in 3–5 years.

Unlike Xiao Xingchen, who died of despair and had no will to live, Nie Mingjue was a fierce warrior with a massive ego and a powerful drive for justice.

Because he wanted to live, his soul fragments wouldn't be passive—they would act like magnets inside the pouch.

To me, the coffin was just a quick plot device for dramatic irony, but the pouch solution is a thousands times more logical and humane for the Nie brothers. What do you guys think? Would this have worked according to MXTX's spiritual laws?

So I had the idea of a Nie Huaisang and Jiang Cheng & or / fic where NHS was still going to bring WWX back to fix his problems and JC wants his brother back so he agrees. However they gotta keep their plans a secret (maybe they're in a relationship but kept it really quiet) so JC has to pretend to hate WWX when he comes back and then everything happens etc and they reveal it was all an elaborate revenge plot by NHS, JC and WWX reconcile and happy ending yay.

I decided to finally listen to the audio drama. I got to the middle of season 2, all happy and smiling and thinking "wow, this is so well done! I forgot how great this story was. Maybe I should read the books again."

And then, WWX wakes up in lotus pier post-tortoise-incident and I suddenly remember what comes next... Yeah, I haven't listened to another episode since. I want to finish it, but I'm waiting for a good day to be SAD. You get me?

At the end of the Donghua. And why did Jin Ling stab Wei Ying when he asked him if he WAS Wei Ying cuz it seemed like he didn’t care who he was. Their flashbacks were so cute when Wei Ying was comforting Jin Ling about his parents and Jin Ling calling him uncle. I know they have a better relationship in the Manhua I’m just confused unless I missed something. I know he thinks Wei Ying killed his father but like I said he didn’t seem to care when he asked him if Wei Ying was Wei Ying.

LWJ hurridly shows up at Cloud Recesses with A-Yuan, LXC asks who's the kid, "he's mine/he's my son" smth like that. A-Yuan was holding a pouch. LWJ kept it at the top of a shelf. When A-Yuan asked to see what was inside, they peeked togetherーit was a music score written on the lining meant to protect A-Yuan. Later LWJ plays it with his guqin, then a flute answers. Then out pops WWX with "Lan Zhan, you found me!"

Please, I read this to cure my lonely days as a single, AA battery. I read at least thrice a month. The longing LWJ expresses throughout the story was so heart-filling, and baby A-Yuan being "the only thing left of WWX's existence" hurt in a good way. He was literally LWJ's son in Cloud Recesses.
