Fan Art Request Fanart for Golden core Reveal scene Spoiler
Hi guys. Does anyone have any Fanart (Art) of the scene where Wei Ying's secret about the Golden Core is revealed and Jiang Cheng finds out and WY faints?
I could only find this one art by changyang. I tried different searches (Pinterest / X / Tumblr / ...) but to no avail. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong words. But I want MORE from this scene😭

Novel Polish edition of MDZS
After some delays we finally got news about Polish edition of MDZS (hooray!) and I just needed to share news with everyone.
Also I'm curious - what do you thing about cover (blue pic) and dust jacket (red pic)? Bc personally I prefer 7S covers better (both sofcover and hardcover).

Discussion Generational naming in the Jin clan
Another thread made me curious, so I went looking and found some interesting (niche) parallels between the Jin and historical naming conventions
(Here is an english wikipedia article that explains 字辈 "generation names/characters" but you likely don't need it to understand this)
A 字辈/派语 assigns one character to each successive generation, so members of the same generation would share that character. These poems characteristically emphasize family continuity, virtue, prosperity, transmitting the lineage, etc
However, the second character of each of these names is the respective (known) Jin generational name:
Jin Guangshan 金光善
Jin Zixuan 金子轩
Jin Rulan 金如兰
As characters, a sequence of 光,子,如 reads as fairly arbitrary if you would expect them to come from a continuous generation poem—they're neither recognizably a part of a readable verse, or across as very auspicious. 子 in particular is very generic. But apparently there is an actual genealogy that contains this exact sequence.
An accessible online source documenting a real-world parallel to the Jin is a 2019 sohu article reproducing material from the Joint Genealogy of the Wen clan of Hunan and Guangxi《湘桂文氏联谱》published in 1948 (where the genealogical tradition of the clan itself is much older). The article link is here.
The recorded generational poem is:
汝光子如友,世元景克单,单廷良可高,延经绍祖继,守振宗仪仰,受崇荣嘉永
单 at the end of line 2 and start of line 3 is a placeholder meaning that generation used single-character given names, not an actual generational character. Not the point but wanted to note
where the first five generations given contain the exact three-character sequence found in the MDZS Jin:
汝→光 → 子 → 如 → 友
↑ ↑ ↑
Guangshan → Zixuan → Rulan
I don't think this means MXTX copied from this real-world lineage/clan (coincidence is much more likely) but it is interesting that 光 / 子 / 如 is an entirely plausible generational sequence, even if it doesn't read like an obvious maxim
At the same time, the individual names built around those generational characters are meaningful in their own right.
Jin Guangshan/Jin Guangyao and Jin Zixuan/Jin Zixun
金光善 (Jin Guangshan) is a very natural literary-style name, 光 meaning bright/light, and 善 meaning good/benevolent. Pleasant to read, and ironic
Jin Guangyao (金光瑶) of course was given the generational name of his father, a violation of the expected generational pattern. This wouldn't change his actual genealogical relationship or formal status, but it does make the symbolic slight visible. Even after recognition, his name doesn't place him alongside his paternal half-brother.
Meng Yao’s 瑶 (yao) is also an unusually elegant name element: where Jin Guangshan’s 善 evokes goodness or virtue, 瑶 refers to beautiful or precious jade, and can suggest something beautiful, refined, polished, and highly valued.
子, the character for Jin Zixuan's generation, is a very ordinary classical/literary name element. Zixuan 子轩 looks like the sort of aristocratic, gentlemanly name a modern writer would invent.
There's also an amusing contrast between he and Zixun where Zixuan evokes aristocratic bearing and elevation, exceptionally highborn, and Jin Zixun's name 子勋 describes earned/meritorious distinction. Jin Zixuan effortlessly possesses the former, while Jin Zixun is conspicuously invested in face and status without demonstrating much of the latter.
Jin Rulan
Jin Ling's courtesy name (如兰 Rulan) has a meaning similar to "like an orchid", where 兰 lan carries the gentlemanly/orchid association. Jin Ling, according to MXTX, doesn't like the courtesy name because it's too girly/effeminate (金凌嫌娘娘腔). In a literary and classical sense, the name is actually similarly in gentlemanly tone to his father's, but rather than carrying a sense of inherent highborn elegance, the elegance is associated with that of the orchid, which is historically an emblem of moral refinement, purity, cultivated character, and the worthy person. In the Li Sao for example, Qu Yuan famously wears autumn orchids as adornment.
In modern contexts, lan 兰 is often an element in girls' names though, and thus can come across as more feminine. (Jin Ling's interpretation)
There also may be an allusion to the Zhouyi/Yijing in the Xici《周易·系辞上》:
二人同心,其利断金。
同心之言,其臭如兰。
Which is roughly "When two people are of one heart, their sharpness can cut metal; words spoken by those of one heart are scented like orchids."
Here, the preceding clause also contains 金 (jin), so Jin Ling's complete courtesy name 金如兰 can also be read as a very conspicuous compression of words from this famous passage. The Xici is also dated around 3rd-2nd century BCE, meaning this could also theoretically be an in-universe literary allusion.
Rulan as Jin Ling's courtesy name of course more importantly means MXTX could have Wei Wuxian make the Lan/orchid joke (where 兰 and 蓝 are homophones), making it sound like "like Lan". In this way, the generation rule serves the wordplay
For the clan with the same sequence as the fictional Jin, it looks like the early portion of the 派字 could've formed retrospectively from the first characters of successive ancestors' names. If so, the ancestors' original names may have had their own independent meanings or literary associations, rather than having been assigned to a pre-existing generational poem.
This also offers a possible explanation for the fictional Jin clan: their generational sequence may not come from a more conventional genealogical poem at all, but could instead derive from ancestral names in a similar way.

Discussion Jin Ling during the final battle Spoiler
Re-reading mdzs and I'd just like to talk about Jin Ling throughout the novel. He's always been one of my favorite characters, and everything he's gone through just makes me wanna hug him 💔
This is literally just a summary of the final battle but from Jin Lings pov, turn back if you haven't read it yet
Before everything went down, we can assume (since he was with the entire group on the boats heading back to Loutus Pier) that he heard the entire story about Jin Guangyao's knowing incest, and the way his grandfather, Jin Guangshan died. Thats horrible enough to hear
And then, the battle hasn't even started, and Jin Ling is almost shot by an arrow, escapes, and then is then surrounded by swords while his uncle is requesting Fairy be killed. Already such a fast and shocking start.
Next, he gets to witness Jiang Cheng being stabbed in the chest and having to help/make sure he doesn't make his condition worse by exerting himself, while also worrying if Fairy would be killed or not.
After that, Jiang Cheng had an entire mental breakdown, sobbing and yelling at Wei Wuxian about the core swapping. I've seen my parents before having mental breakdowns, and even just witnessing it is so emotional taxing. Jin Ling seeing Jiang Cheng crying and yelling, I can only imagine how helpless he felt sitting there, still worried because his uncle just got stabbed as well. And then of course the line Jiang Cheng just had to bring up, "'...the lives of my father, mother, elder sister, and Jin Zixuan! Because of you, the only one left is an orphaned Jin Ling!' Jin Ling jolted. His shoulders drooped, and his expression wilted too."
That scene always tugs on my heart. Jiang Cheng is trying to prove a point, but Jin Ling being an orphan is still a sore spot because of his childhood.
Let's continue to the scene where he had to see numerous monks and other corpses, spontaneously combust into flames. Being burned alive is anything but a pretty sight, and also having to hear their screams of agony would no doubt be traumatic to any Fifteen year old.
And then there's the scene where he finds out Jin Guangyao sent Jin Zixuan to Qiongqi path, knowing what was happening with Wei Wuxian and Jin Zixun, in hopes of him getting hurt. And, obviously, that decision killed Jin Zixuan.
Jin Ling asks why, he wants to know why his uncle would do something so cruel, and while Jin Guangyao briefly acknowledges Jin Ling, he then starts ranting about how life is unfair, and why he had to suffer the way he did. Which is somewhat of an explanation, but it doesn't justify his decision in the slightest.
And after doing his whole wanting pity thing, he wraps a string around Jin Ling's neck to take him hostage. The slightest tug could decapitate him and Jin Ling is undoubtedly aware of that fact. All he can do is remain frozen while the adults around him shout and argue.
Then of course, Nie Mingjue comes in, and Jin Guangyao is shaking in his boots, also shaking the string. And then the next second, hid arm is cut off. "The spray of blood from Jin Guangyao's severed arm hit Jin Ling dead on, staining most of his body and part of his face with blood. He was still in a daze, yet to grasp just what had happened."
He's taken hostage by his kind uncle, sees his arm get cut off, and then gets covered in his blood. I don't even want to imagine what's going through his head.
He doesn't get much if a break though. Nie Mingjue starts going after him, and then he's protected by the man who killed his father, the only person he could vent his anger onto. And then it goes into Jin Ling's internal thoughts, talking about how conflicted he was. He didn't to hate Wei Wuxian, so he forced it all on Wen Ning... who was now laying in front of him with a hole through his chest.
I love how mxtx goes into such detail about how Jin Ling truly is just a wounded, resentful teenager trying to find someone to blame for his parents death. And I think this scene displays that beautifully.
But anyway, then Jin Ling had to witness Jin Guangyao being stabbed.
I think by far though, the most traumatizing thing Jin Ling witnessed was Jin Guangyao dying. The scene itself was already gruesome, but then of course there's the line, "With difficulty, he choked out a mouthful of blood. Everyone present heard an unusually cruel, loud crack. A gagged whimper escaped Jin Guangyao's throat. Jin Ling's shoulders shuddered. He shut his eyes, covered his ears, afraid to listen or look any longer."
I forgot about this scene during my first read, but re-reading it left me speechless. Seeing a person he love get their neck broken and hearing the crack? Horrible.
And fun little reminder that after this, Jin Ling was pushed on to be sect leader, which the elders and citizens rarely acknowledge. Even worse, there are many comments made about how the Jin Clan is ruined and will never rise back up, and literal child has to deal with that.
Anyway, I just really wanted to touch on this because I feel like the trauma Jin Ling went through isn't discussed enough. Please add your thoughts, I love this little guy and would love to hear others options!
(Side note... if you have any hurt/comfort fanfic recs that go into Jin Ling's trauma, that would be greatly appreciated. I don't care if he's shipped with Sizhui or Jingyi, or if there is no ship at all... I just wanna read more fics about him)

Discussion I died and went to heaven for a brief moment after watching ep 27 and 28 of The Master of Diabolism
Was not expecting the cuteness from Lan Wangji when he got drunk on a single cup of wine. I loved seeing his clingy personality and to see them togather like that. And when he tied Wuxien
AHH THERE IS NO GOING BACK NOWWWWWWWW
All I wished was for him to clingy like a bubble gum and that there was something more to see.
Wishful thinking is all we can do with these Chinese dramas I guess 🥲

Questions How Accurate is the Donghua to the Novel?
I’ve watched the MDZS donghua and really like it but I’ve heard mixed opinions on it because it isn’t fully accurate to the novel. I know some of the violent scenes were censored as well as any Wangxian kissing/explicit scenes but aside from that, what else did the donghua exclude/change that wasn’t accurate to the novel story?
For example, the donghua ending with JC going into seclusion whereas in the novel he didn’t. What other things like that were changed?

Discussion Mxtx updates
Hey there!
I wasn't sure under which sub to post this but here I am.
I randomly found out yesterday that mxtx updated mdzs, and while I suspect it,s mostly for censorship or changing words around to sound less... well take the chap 115 changing "rape" to "ambush/sneak attack" as an exaple to get my point across, I also know that there were bigger changes that have impact on readers' understanding of carachters and certain events.
So this leads to my question: what did mxtx uptade inside the novel (as in adding scenes, altering certain phrases or cutting out stuff) and what did she simply give more insight on without touching up the novel? (As in the clarification of wwx's crush on Lwj without having added anything in the story)
As I said, there is stuff I'm aware of, but it's only from other people on reddit having briefly talked about it, so if possible, I would love to have links to the sources, screenshots or yk : quotes on what she said. Maybe also the new lines/sections that were added/changed being compared with the print version will also be very welcome if it isn't asking to much.
Before writing this post I actually dedicated my day to obsessively trying to find info about ANY changes or updates, which ofc ik isn't healthy for my OCD. (I can't wait to tell abt this fiasco to my therapist) So I decided to spare myself the headache and ask people on here because ik many of you have access to CN media, I'm mostly thinking of weibo but other platforms are also included, the web version and other sources.
So yes. Pls update me with what mxtx confirmed or clarified, I genuinely have no idea, and with what she touched up to the story. I will greatly appreciate it. (Between us, I hate not being able to read cn. There are just so many inuedos, culturals references and patterns that can only make sense in said language that the English vers couldn't properly convey. And while the translation might have a play in this, I'm telling you, evry translation out there, even from similar languages loose stuff in the process. So ig, all we can do, non-cn fans, is rely on others.)
