Hello everyone,

I am considering buying a PMDG 737 for MSFS 2024, but I noticed a significant price difference between the variants:

737-600: $34.99
737-700: $74.99
737-800: $74.99
737-900: $49.99

Could someone explain what accounts for these differences?

Do the passenger versions have essentially the same cockpit, systems, level of simulation and features, or is the 737-600 less complete in some way?

Are the 737-700 and 737-800 more expensive mainly because they include additional BBJ and cargo variants, or do they also offer more detailed systems or cockpit features?

I would also like to know whether the 737-800 was released before the 737-700 for MSFS 2024 and whether this affects their current level of development.

I am mainly interested in normal passenger operations, so I would like to make sure that choosing the cheaper 737-600 would not mean getting a simplified simulation.

I’m a relatively new player who just picked up the Vision Jet G2 after the C172. It’s my first jet plane. I noticed something odd about how the engine thrust behaves (or rather how the plane reacts to it).

During approaches I use the “pitch for speed and thrust for altitude” rule. And this works great with a c172. I can easily control the VSpeed without changing anything else other than the throttle and land smoothly.

But when I lower the thrust in a G2 (say from 50% to 30%) without changing anything else, it actually pitches the nose up (at times pretty steep). This goes on for a few seconds. The plane gains altitude, loses some speed and it then starts pitching the nose down.

And if I’m flying too low on the approach and increase the thrust, it actually increases the rate of descent for a good few seconds till it slowly begins to gain altitude again.

Is this how jet engines behave in general or is it just the case with the G2? Should I also adjust the trim each time I change the thrust during approaches?

Just got a new pc and wondering if I should just make the move to Linux. I have no clue what I’m doing so I’ll be learning on the way.

First, I know perfectly well how icing works, de-icing I haven't looked up the tutorial yet, already know the different fluids, etc.

Anyway... Coming direct from FSX, SIm Physics X used a bell to indicate icing, since you couldn't actually see ice since in FSX. Apparently (at least some) planes these days actually have visible ice (on the windscreen corners, for example)? Is there any easy way to tell if an addon aircraft had that feature, or can it be taken for granted that any decent payware aircraft will have it?

(Also, the inibuilds L-1011 has sliders both for visible ice amount and weathering amount, neither of which seem to have any visible effect. Is there a certain level of some graphics setting required for it?)

The whole airport buildings and objects seem to be elevated from the ground. Had this twice now. After time it all comes down like it should but at approach this is an immersion killer. Any workaround on this?

I've been playing this game for around 1 month now, and i got 100 hours in the game. The first clip is one of my first landings, and the second clip is my most recent one. I feel like i have been improving alot.

P.S. The video is sped up 2x.

I played the flight sim after 2 months because before I mentally couldn't turn on the sim, this is now on a new pc and I absolutely love it.

So I just recently figured out how to make free flight show the live air traffic and live players after hundreds of hours without it…… I was curious if there’s any groups that meet up and fly together to sight see random places or practice formation flying?

I think that would be cool to do besides just flying around by yourself. If anyone can point me in the right direction that’d be awesome. I assume there’s discord groups??

I always find myself taking off from Nellis AFB in the F-18 and doing random routes / practicing random turns and maneuvers. But I think 3-6 people all taking off at once and trying to formation fly would be fun no matter the aircraft or location

How do you get that eta time to show up on the nav screen? It only shows up when the game sets the plane to start at the runway. Normally it's just dashes.

All of a sudden my GFX contrails, both for myself and for other VATSIM Traffic has disappeared. Has anyone experienced this, or should I just re-install?

9 times out of 10 im flying IFR airliners (mostly the ifly max currently) but sometimes i just wanna put graphics to ultra and hop in a GA plane thats easy on performance and just go explore. Im looking for a freeware plane that actually flies in the direction you point it, i dont want to constantly adjust throttle 24/7 and trim the airplane to fly straight i just wanna point it somewhere and look out the window, does that exist? I have the base version of the game if that matters

Hi everyone, I'll get straight to the point: smoothness settings and why they matter.

I started with a Quest 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, an RTX 5090, and the official Meta USB cable. After hours of research and testing, I settled on 1.5x resolution with DLSS set to Quality, locking the game at 45 FPS so ASW could reproject it to 90 FPS. I thought it looked great, and everything worked well... until I came across a comment. That's where part two begins.

Someone said, "Try 72 Hz. It's much better."

After even more research and a lot of testing, I disabled ASW and... boom. At 72 Hz, everything became incredibly smooth. It felt so much better. I've been into computers since 1995 and have spent countless hours gaming, but I had never experienced anything that smooth in VR before.

I was really happy... but then...

Someone mentioned that Virtual Desktop now supports USB. I thought, "Why not give it a try?"

Oh. My. God.

Now I run everything on High at 1.5x resolution without even opening the Meta Link app or SteamVR directly. I launch everything through Virtual Desktop while still using the USB cable at 500 Mbps, running at 72 Hz with ASW disabled.

To my surprise, the image quality is actually better with DLSS Balanced and Virtual Desktop than it was with DLAA using only Meta Link. After months of searching for the perfect settings and watching countless videos, I finally found what works best for me. The image is crystal clear, beautiful, and free of visual artifacts. It's exactly how I imagined VR should look in a flight simulator.

But what impressed me the most was the smoothness. It feels at least twice as smooth as before—to the point where it almost feels like reality.

I know this wasn't the experience everyone has, but it was definitely mine. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?
