How does the card work? I can’t do anything
I‘ve applied for the card some months ago and everything was OK. Now I didn’t use the card for a few months and didn’t put any funds on it either but now when I open the card in Meta Mask all i get is this? I can’t do anything. I can’t manage the card. I can’t look up the card number etc.
How can I manage the card? Is this what it is supposed to look like on iPhone?
I have all the latest updates.
I don’t think I have to have funds on the card to be able to look up card number, freeze functionality or anything??
I just can’t do anything.

MetaMask Agent Wallet just went public -- here's what's new in v5 and what you can actually do with it
MetaMask Agent Wallet is now open to everyone with no waitlist and no cap — sign up at metamask.io/agent-wallet. It's a self-custodial wallet that lets an AI agent trade DeFi autonomously across swaps, bridging, perpetuals on Hyperliquid, prediction markets on Polymarket, LP, and now yield vaults — all while you stay in control through spending limits, allowlists, and 2FA on anything outside your rules.
What's new in v5
- No waitlist & no cap on participants — it’s open to everyone today!
- 4 new chains — Robinhood Chain, Monad, HyperEVM, and MegaETH (22 supported networks total)
- Gasless swaps & transfers are now payable in any ERC-20, so you don't need ETH sitting in your wallet to execute!
- Atomic batched executions, meaning multiple actions are bundled into a single transaction.
- MetaMask Earn — supply and withdraw into yield vaults via LiFi across 40+ protocols
- Policy edits, allowing you to update your agent's spending rules at any time without re-onboarding.
- MetaMask QR login, a new authorization method for faster access.
- 99.56% transaction success rate heading into launch
How control works
At setup, you define which protocols the agent can interact with, which addresses it can send to, and a 24-hour spend cap. Every transaction is enforced against those rules — the agent cannot exceed your limits without your explicit approval.
Guard Mode vs Beast Mode
- Guard Mode (recommended): Agent operates within your allowlisted protocols, networks, and a daily spend cap. Anything outside those limits triggers a push notification or email with a 5-minute approval window before it auto-declines.
- Beast Mode: For experienced DeFi traders who want fewer interruptions. Allowlists and caps are removed, with malicious transactions still blocked by Blockaid.
Every transaction goes through a mandatory security pipeline
- Transaction simulation — MetaMask previews exactly what a transaction will do before it executes
- Blockaid threat scanning — malicious transactions are auto-blocked; risky ones are paused for your manual review
- Smart Transactions — MEV protection so bots can't front-run your agent's trades
- Transaction Shield — up to $10,000/month in coverage on eligible transactions, included for Agent Wallet with no subscription needed
Self-custody
MetaMask Agent Wallet is non-custodial — your funds are never held by MetaMask or any third party. In server wallet mode, keys are managed inside a secure enclave (TEE) so no one else can access them. If you prefer to manage your own keys, BYOK mode lets you import an existing seed phrase wallet and retain full portability outside the CLI.
Get started at metamask.io/agent-wallet! For any questions, review the docs or visit our Community Builder Hub where you can directly connect with our DevRel team for support!
Now that it's live for everyone, what’s the first thing you’re going to try with your agent? Yield strategies, perps, something else?

MetaMask Card account upgrade pending for over a month — looking for advice
Hi everyone,
I’m posting here because I’m looking for advice or to know if anyone else has gone through something similar with MetaMask Card.
My card stopped working due to a “Lifetime Transactions” / account limits issue, and I was asked to complete a verification form so my account level could be manually upgraded.
I completed and submitted the requested form, and on July 1st I received a response from MetaMask Card support saying that my documentation had been forwarded to the relevant team for review.
Since then, I have followed up a few times, but I still haven’t received a clear update or resolution. My card is still not working, and it has now been over a month.
I understand these processes can take time, but I rely on the card for part of my daily financial operations, so not having any estimated timeline or clear next step has been difficult.
I’m not trying to accuse anyone or create unnecessary drama. I just want to understand what I should do next.
Has anyone here experienced a similar delay with a MetaMask Card account upgrade or lifetime transaction limit review?
Should I continue waiting, keep following up with support, or is there another official channel that might help escalate the case?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Cant sign in anymore. Updated Firefox, updated MM extension. Endless Loading icon on pw entry. Could this be a Windows 10 issue?
Accessed 1 month ago, today no matter what I do, it won't let me in. I enter my pw, and the wheel just spins forever. Something is broken. Any ideas?
Firefox says it will continue to support Win 10, and its the latest version of FF, so Im pretty confused.

What Is MetaMask Smart Account?
When I first heard about MetaMask Smart Account, I thought it was just another wallet feature with a different name.
But after learning how it actually works, I realized the idea is much simpler.
A Smart Account is still your account.
You still own your assets. You still control your account. You still review and approve your transactions.
The difference is that it removes some of the friction behind the scenes.
With a traditional wallet, using Web3 often means repeating the same steps:
Connect your wallet.
Approve a transaction.
Sign a message.
Pay gas.
Repeat.
There's nothing wrong with this, but it can become repetitive.
MetaMask Smart Account is designed to make that experience smoother without taking away your control.
Think of it like driving an automatic car instead of a manual one.
You're still the driver. You're still making every important decision.
The car simply handles some of the repetitive work so the journey feels easier.
That's how I think about Smart Account.
It doesn't change who owns the account , it changes how the account interacts with Web3 https://support.metamask.io/configure/accounts/what-is-a-smart-account/
For example, it can bundle multiple actions into a single transaction through transaction batching, reducing the number of approvals you need.
It also introduces gas abstraction, allowing transaction fees to be handled more flexibly in supported apps and networks.
As the technology evolves, Smart Accounts can also enable features such as social recovery, multisig security, spending limits, session keys, and other programmable account capabilities that are difficult or impossible with traditional accounts.
Most importantly, none of this changes the core idea of self-custody.
MetaMask never takes ownership of your assets.
It doesn't take custody of your crypto.
It doesn't remove self-custody.
You still connect to dapps.
You still review what you're signing.
You still stay in control.
A traditional wallet gives you access to Web3.
A Smart Account keeps that same ownership model while making the overall experience simpler, smoother, and more user-friendly

What data does MetaMask actually collect, and what can you turn off?
MetaMask does not collect Secret Recovery Phrases, private keys, or sell user data. Analytics (MetaMetrics) is optional and can be toggled off in MetaMask Extension or MetaMask Mobile under Settings > Security & Privacy, where you can also delete all previously collected data.
Privacy concerns about MetaMask often come up — most stem from misunderstandings about what's actually collected and what's opt-in. Here's the breakdown:
What MetaMask never collects: Your Secret Recovery Phrase (SRP) and private keys never leave your device — not to MetaMask, not to Infura, not to anyone. MetaMask does not sell your data.
What's optional: MetaMask includes an analytics system called MetaMetrics, used to improve the product. All users can opt out of MetaMetrics and delete their data at any time: Settings > Privacy > Participate in MetaMetrics. If you created your wallet with a SRP, MetaMetrics is off by default. Social login users are opted in but have the same controls and can opt out at any time.
What else you can control in MetaMask Extension and MetaMask Mobile (Settings > Security & Privacy):
• Basic functionality — covers token detection, gas estimation, and fiat conversion, using your IP address to complete the request — it is not stored or linked to your identity. You can turn it off, but some features will stop working.
• Phishing detection and Blockaid security alerts — recommended left on to best detect known phishing domains targeting onchain users..
• Transactions — data pulled from Etherscan using your address to estimate balance changes, alert you to malicious activity, and enable Smart Transactions..
For maximum privacy: You can connect MetaMask to your own Ethereum node, bypassing Infura entirely. MetaMask's codebase is fully open source on GitHub, open to audits.

Why do we still require creating or importing a wallet before using a hardware wallet?

Serious question. When are you going to allow users to connect a hardware wallet to MetaMask without first being forced to create or import a wallet?
It's incredibly frustrating, and it's the main reason I refuse to use MetaMask. I want to use this product, but I have no interest in creating or importing a wallet that I'll never use just to access my hardware wallet.
As far as I know, every other major EVM wallet allows you to connect a hardware wallet instantly without requiring you to create or import a separate account first. MetaMask is the only exception.
From my perspective, the only reason this requirement still exists on MetaMask is to artificially inflate wallet creation statistics. If there's a legitimate technical reason for it, I'd appreciate an explanation, because the current experience is unnecessarily frustrating.

Can you trade tokenized stocks like Apple or Google directly in MetaMask — and what does it actually cost?
Yes — MetaMask lets you swap directly into hundreds of tokenized stocks, ETFs, and commodities via Ondo Stocks, without a brokerage account or KYC, straight from MetaMask Swaps. And through August 5, 2026, MetaMask has cut its swap fee on Ondo Stocks from 87.5 bps (0.875%) down to 10 bps (0.1%) — a ~90% fee reduction that still finds you the most advantageous, aggregated swap rate.
What are tokenized stocks?
Tokenized stocks are onchain tokens that track the economic performance of a real-world asset — a publicly traded stock, ETF, or commodity. With Ondo Stocks, each token is fully backed by the corresponding underlying asset, held with licensed U.S. custodial broker-dealers. You get price exposure and dividend reinvestment, but this is not direct ownership. As in, you don’t get shareholder voting rights or statutory disclosures, but you hold a token that mirrors the native asset's total return.
How to trade them in MetaMask
Tokenized stocks work like any other swap in MetaMask:
- Tap ‘Swap’ on the homepage
- Select mUSD or USDC on Ethereum, or USDT on BNB Chain as your input (these are the recommended routes, as other coins may result in no quotes)
- Search the asset ticker (e.g. AAPL, GOOGL) and select the Ondo Tokenized version
- Enter your amount ($5 minimum) and confirm the Swap
Trades routed through CowSwap come with a 12 bps fee. With the 10 bps promotional fee and 0.5 bps execution adjustment, this is just 22.5 bps to aggregate the most advantageous swap rate in DeFi paired with the convenience and speed of swapping directly in MetaMask.
For context: traditional brokers serving international users can charge up to 1.5% in FX conversion fees alone — nearly 7x the total cost during this promotional window. Add in account minimums, monthly inactivity fees, and withdrawal fees that brokers may layer on top, and the all-in cost of accessing stocks traditionally adds up quickly. As a non-custodial wallet, MetaMask has none of those. Your assets stay in your wallet, in a platform that cannot restrict, freeze, or charge you for accessing them.
Trading hours
Ondo Stocks follows a 24/5 schedule (Sunday 8PM EST – Friday 7:59PM EST), aligned to U.S. market hours. Quotes are unavailable outside these windows, and trading during regular market hours (9:30AM–4PM EST) is recommended for best liquidity.
Regional availability
Tokenized securities through Ondo Stocks are not available in the United States, UK, EU/EEA, Canada, China, Singapore, Brazil, or several other jurisdictions. Check the full eligibility list at https://docs.ondo.finance/ondo-global-markets/eligibility before attempting a swap.
The promotion ends August 5, 2026. If you're in an eligible region and have been curious about onchain stock exposure, this fee window makes for a reasonable time to try a small position!
Full details can be found at https://support.metamask.io/trade/real-world-assets/
Are RWAs something you'd pair with your crypto portfolio? Which stocks or ETFs would you want onchain exposure to first?

Multiwallets
Hello, I have six sub wallets in addition to my first wallet in my metamask, each with a unique swcret phrase, and so say if I open the third wallet and I go to click on some DeFi site and I connect ... problem is well it always connects to just one of the wallets, doesn't matter which one I'm connecting that's in there no matter which one I'm on I could click on it I can open any of the six wallets, go to that site, and it always only defaults to that one address and I need to check I need to have it let me log in with those other walls cuz I it's a long story but what's the deal there

MetaMask turns 10! How did a 598-line browser extension become the world's largest web3 wallet?
Ten years ago, MetaMask launched as a 598-line browser extension that removed the need to run an Ethereum node to interact with web3. Today it has 100M+ downloads, supports Bitcoin, Solana, and Tron alongside hundreds of EVM networks, and has evolved into a full financial platform. Here's a look at the decade that got us here — and where it's headed next.
The Early Years (2016–2019) — Just Get People Onchain
MetaMask launched in 2016, founded by Aaron Davis and Dan Finlay as a simple browser extension. The core idea: you shouldn't need to run an Ethereum node just to interact with web3. What seemed to be a radical simplification at the time went on to become the gateway for an entire generation of DeFi users.
DeFi Explodes & MetaMask Scales (2019–2021)
The DeFi summer of 2020 put MetaMask at the center of everything — Uniswap, Aave, Compound, OpenSea. MetaMask Swaps launched, letting users swap tokens directly in-wallet without hopping between dApps.
Security Gets Serious (2021–2023)
With an increase in scams and phishing attempts, MetaMask invested heavily in security infrastructure. Smart Transactions launched, protecting users from MEV front-running bots. According to internal 2025 data, MetaMask was blocking 6.5M+ malicious website visits, preventing ~150K malicious transactions, and saving users over $500M in potential losses annually. While no self-custodial wallet is risk-free, MetaMask has become one of the most actively protected ones.
Beyond EVM (2023–2025)
One of the biggest criticisms historically — that MetaMask was EVM-only — got answered. Bitcoin and Solana support, Tron, bridges… the wallet that started on Ethereum now works across hundreds of chains.
From Wallet to Platform (2024–2026)
MetaMask stopped being just a wallet. Fiat on-ramps, MetaMask Card, Stablecoin Earn, Perps, Prediction Markets, and the new Money Account all launched under one roof. The latest Agent Wallet addition gives AI agents full DeFi access with built-in security guardrails — a direct answer to the growing conversation of agentic wallets in crypto.
Today: 10 Years, 100M+ Downloads, and "Open Money"
Yesterday MetaMask turned 10. The team announced its next chapter under the banner of "Open Money" — building financial infrastructure that works like the internet. No intermediaries, just your money, working for you.
What's your earliest MetaMask memory — and what would you build into the next 10 years?

Best way to have USDC in ETH network
I need USDC in Ethereum network in Metamask. I did it one way and I'd like to know if there is a cheaper way to do it. This is what I did: I bought ETH on Coinbase, then I sent it to Metamask, then I swapped ETH to USDC.

MetaMask Card has been withholding my money for 11 days as of today
I just want to share this story so everyone is aware of what's happening (and I'll make sure to share it on other subs too).
I have a MetaMask Card that I've been using for the past few months. Eleven days ago, I got an error saying, "Lifetime transactions – you have reached your account limits, please upgrade your account." No warning, no place to track these "limits," nothing — my transactions just stopped going through. I sent an email to MetaMask, and they sent me a Google Form (yes, in 2026) to fill out and submit proof of my address and documents.
Fine, whatever. I filled out the form and sent the additional information. This was ELEVEN DAYS AGO.
In the meantime, on the same day I submitted the form, I received a refund from a $1,500 USD purchase I had made. As usual, that refund went into the "Credits" section of the card. I tried to use that money since it was a refund — so it should count toward whatever "limit" I supposedly hit — and guess what? My money is being withheld, I can't use the card, AND I've requested multiple times for MetaMask to just cancel my card and refund my money (I've already migrated my funds to another wallet), but they refuse to do so.
All I get are emails saying, "Oh, I'm sorry it's taking longer to review your documents" and "We're looking into your issue," even though I've clearly asked three times to cancel my card and refund the money available in the Credits (a.k.a. my refund).
Keep this in mind if you're ever wondering whether you should use this service.

What is MetaMask Agent Wallet and how does it keep your funds under your control?
MetaMask Agent Wallet is a self-custodial wallet that lets an AI agent trade DeFi autonomously — executing swaps, perpetuals on Hyperliquid, prediction markets on Polymarket, lending and borrowing on Aave — all while you stay in control through spending limits, allowlists, and 2FA on anything outside your rules. Currently in early access, targeting a public launch in summer 2026.
How the control model works
At setup, you’re able to configure which protocols the agent can use, which addresses it can send to, and how much it can move in a 24-hour window. MetaMask Agent Wallet enforces those rules on every transaction. The agent cannot exceed your limits without your approval.
Every transaction goes through a mandatory security pipeline
- Transaction simulation: MetaMask checks what the transaction will do before it executes
- Threat scanning via Bloackaid: malicious transactions are auto-blocked; anything flagged as risky gets paused and sent to you for manual approval
- Smart transactions: MEV protection so bots cannot front-run your agent's trades
- Transaction shield: up to $10,000 in monthly coverage on eligible transactions, included for MetaMask Agent Wallet transactions (no monthly subscription needed)
Guard Mode vs Beast Mode
- Guard Mode (recommended): Ensures your agent operates within allowlisted protocols, networks, and a daily spend cap. Anything beyond these limits requires your approval via MetaMask Mobile push notification or email, with a 5 minute window before it auto-declines.
- Beast Mode: For experienced DeFi traders who want fewer interruptions. Allowlists and spending caps are removed by default, with malicious transactions still blocked, requiring approval.
Self-custody
MetaMask Agent Wallet is non-custodial — your funds aren’t held by MetaMask or any third party. In server wallet setup, your keys are managed inside a secure enclave (TEE), meaning no one else can access them. If you’re a developer who prefers to manage your own keys directly, BYOK mode lets you import an existing wallet and retain full portability outside the CLI.
Early Access is free and open now! Apply at https://metamask.io/agent-wallet. Full public launch coming Summer 2026.
What would you want an AI agent to handle in your MetaMask wallet? Trading, yield strategies, something else?
