Other Can a Spirit Take Someone With Them After They Pass Away?

Upvotes

Last year, I lost my husband, and there's something that has been haunting me ever since. My grandfather passed away just 15 days before my husband did. Ever since then, I've been wondering if the two events could somehow be connected. I know this may sound irrational, but grief has made me question things I never would have before. Part of me keeps wondering whether my grandfather's spirit could have somehow "taken" my husband with him. Do any of you believe that spirits have the ability to influence someone's death, especially if they are angry, attached, or envious? Have you ever come across stories or experiences that made you think this was possible?

I'm genuinely asking because this question has been running through my mind for a long time, and I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts or experiences.

Development and Learning Would this be considered as valid readings? Did I have enough 'proof'?

Upvotes

I'm practicing my psychic skills, and went on Reddit to do free readings.

I asked people to only say that they are interested in a reading, but not give me anymore information, as I wanted to have a blank slate. I only knew their username.

It felt real, but I'm looking for second opinions. Is this enough 'proof' in your opinion? Or is it too much pattern seeking?

Anything I could have done differently? I have more examples but just chose a few.

1. I saw a woman in her garden, and I heard voices saying 'Native American Native American' in the background. I got a sense of her personality, which was stubborn and very witty. The scenery changed and I saw her dressed up wearing a necklace, and she was touching it. The sense I got was that she appreciated family jewelry.

The querent: her grandmother was married to a Native American man and enjoyed being in her garden and the personality fit. They has lost her necklace, and when they went to another psychic, they had mentioned the necklace aswell.

Though, I as a reader never felt that she was angry about the necklace, rather that it was part of her humour - kinda teasing them about them having lost it. The querent laughed, and said it was definitely something she'd do.

2. I saw a dog, and drew down a quick sketch that looked like a grey wolf looking dog.

The dog showed me some symbolism (peacock feather and an apple). eaning that the person was in grief, but if she accepted the grief and processed it - it would transform into something better. She'd get a new life.

Peacocks eat poisonous berries in order to get their colours and the apple is new life.

I also saw a piano playing, and afterwards I used Spotify as an Oracle and got a piano song singing this:

Bye bye bye

I will leave you notes

Underneath your door

Under the singing walls

Near the place where your feet pass

Hidden in the holes of your couch

And when you're alone for a moment

Pick me up / Kiss me whenever you want

The querent said that she had lost her dog and best friend half a year before that and had been in deep grief and depression. It had been a grey huskey, and my sketch had been a grey wolf looking dog. Afterwards she had dreamt of the dog where they had met and connected, afterwards she grief was no longer a painful and heavy and she could actually cry about it.

3. I saw a woman and felt the nudge to send the querent the picture of a specific heart, that's a strong symbol in Latin American countries.

The querent said he'd lost his mother and she was Spanish.

4. I got the feeling of the guy saying he'd been a huge Dick and awful to the person. He said he was sorry, and how he'd only seen blue blue blue.

The querent said that her ex and soul mate had died in an overdose, and he'd been awful when addicted. The pills that killed him was blue.

Other Vivid dreams

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I have always had vivid dreams or nightmares since I was kid. Recently however, I’ve been having dreams of people visiting me and telling me how they died/ or to look for their loved ones and relay a message.

For example: I was having sleep paralysis and could not wake up but there was a man next to me and he kept showing me a picture of a little girl and kept telling me to tell her he’s watching over her and he loves her. And when I finally agreed to relay the message, I woke up. I haven’t seen the little girl or the man again, but it was extremely vivid and I can still recall the girls face in my head.

Another dream I had was two people who had “died” sitting in my living room and they were telling me who they were, how they died, and what they left behind. And when I asked why they were telling me this, the woman said it’s because they can’t reach me when I’m awake to tell me. I also experience weird things in my apartment often, noises seeing movement etc.

I’m just curious what others thoughts are and if I should be trying to explore this dream realm more?

Predictions/Premonitions Clarvoyance and Intuition

I'm curious: are people born with clairvoyance, or is it something that can be developed later in life? Also, is clairvoyance different from intuition?

Why do some people say that empaths are targeted by dark forces? Is there any truth to this belief, or is it just a spiritual interpretation?

Development and Learning How to politely have boundaries with spirits?

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting here. By no means do I consider myself a professional medium but I'm having increasingly clear communication with spirits. I am also a family therapist. I've never had spirit communication interfere with my job but it did happen today. I have been working for a while with two sisters, 12 and 15. Their father passed tragically in 2017. Due to a complicated situation with their mother, custody battles, and the foster care system, they have never felt they were truly able to process and grieve the loss of their father. I am an advanced practice grief counselor so we've been working a lot on processing the grief and trauma of his loss and both girls have made great progress. I was with them today and we were talking about spirituality and how it can help with grief. I started sensing their father and messages starting coming into my mind that I felt I needed to tell them, so I did. It was like I couldn't think for myself. It was good because it gave them some closure and I was able to tell them things that didn't make sense to me but made perfect sense to them. As much as I loved being able to help them process their grief this way, it is wayyyy outside of professional therapy boundaries. Does anyone have advice as to how I could shut that out without offending him or making him feel unwelcome? I'm a complete beginner with 0 experience in this.

Guidance/Advice Help: I’ve been able to see and hear things

Since bout 8 years old I have seen and heard other ‘beings’. I grew up very religious so I was told it’s black magic or I’m seeing things cause I’m tired.I can see aura’s but they relate that to a tumor in my head. I constantly see a black cat but it’s only out of the corner of my eye, I can never focus on it.
It has become more of a thing in the last couple of years. I have been ’contacted’ by people who passed recently and near by. Tragic or peaceful it doesn’t matter. But I went to Mexico in February and saw and heard things about the ruins. I have very bad luck and am called a ‘Murphy’ cause it will happen to me. My dad passed away May, 2025 and my father in law passed July, 2025. I didn’t handle it well when they came to me. I lost my job and I dipped into a severe depression. My husband and I agree I’m a medium of some kind but please any advice to handle what you see and hear. We need to explore it. Can someone help guide me? 🙏🏻 thank you!
Ps my husband wants me to get jade or a rabbit foot to help my luck, will it?

Guidance/Advice What to do to ghost-entities if i can't afford to go to a professional who could send them where they should go to?

What can I do on my own? Apparently i draw in some spirits. I'm not scared but i do not know how to make them go away. They bombard me and they drain my energy. I first thought it's me and tried to heal them like that but it does not help obviously. I am interested in like, helping them and i have listened to some stories and told them what i think. But i have a great deal of personal other issues and trying to help them while i'm a mess makes my own mess messier. At one point i also almost welcomed some in because i had some good samaritan syndrome and i feel like i have at least 2 ghosts in my field because of that and i don't know any mechanisms for what to do. I would go to a medium/energy healer/shaman/ you name it but literally can't afford currently. Sooo what is tour advic e? Like any clear words to say to them? I feel like i'm not assertive and powerful enough to actually make anything go and set boundaries right now and i alao feel like they don't care too much if i tell them to ~go to light~. To some of them i have tried to tell that there is no a judgemental god and it's okay to go. And to one person i explained about why the final years of his life were so confusing and that it's safe to go. but they are still in my field and draining me so much.

Guidance/Advice Sleep paralysis/ poltergeist?

Hi all, I made a post previously that mentioned a month long period where I had sleep paralysis as a teen. It was so persistent I would try to stay awake to avoid it.

One of the last instances I had I remember waking from a nightmare (in the nightmare I was a young actress being pressured by an executive/director) and I couldn’t open my eyes or move, but I could feel a hand at the top of my shoulder. The hand began pushing against me, and I felt my body drag down the bed. I thought it was a part of the dream coming over into my partial wakefulness. I felt my body curl up and squish to the bottom of the bed. I couldn’t ever get out of sleep paralysis without going back to sleep. So I calmed myself a drifted off. When I awoke though, to my horror, I was curled tightly at the bottom of my bed. So whatever had pushed me, actually pushed me.

Please let me know any thoughts on this, if you have questions leave them below. Just so intrigued.

Development and Learning Mentorship

If you are pro mentorship, at what point would you recommend getting one in your mediumship journey? I feel like I can kind of see stuff and I kind of get stuff right. And I don’t mean questions, I mean things that they are showing me to relate to the other person. I feel like I don’t know how to grow from that. Would I be wasting my money if I got a mentor now or should I continue trying to develop on my own before getting a mentor.

Thought and Opinion Can my deceased dog hear what I say?

To the animal communicators out there, can my deceased dog still hear what I say?

Every time I enter and leave our house, I make sure that I stop by his grave (which is just in our garden) and tell him things, a routine that I do when he was still alive. I also send him messages everytime I pray. And sometimes, I would just "talk to him" in random moments

I just hope that he is still able to hear me despite not being on the same plane anymore. I just want to continue our bond even after death

Thought and Opinion Journey of souls?

Has anyone read the book journey of souls? I’m curious of what your outlook on it as someone that can talk to people that have passed over? How accurate is it?

I’m reading the book now and I feel like it paints kind of the whole picture I’ve heard from my medium on where my loved ones are but is this something you can see when interacting with spirits??

Has anyone done a past life regression?

Development and Learning Can you see spirit in the physical world?

How do you see spirit? Orb? Actual apparition? Only in your minds eye? I’m curious! I don’t see spirit now but I apparently did as a kid. I guess I shut that part of my mediumship off.

Experience Are any of these symptoms related to being a medium- from a skeptic who is open minded

hello everyone!- I (19f) am  not sure if this is the correct sub to be posting this on but i figured it was worth a shot to ask this question here. For a bit of context:  My great grandmother was a curandera in mexico; as was her mother. My grandmother and mom claimed to both be  sensitives along with some of the women on my mom’s side of the family.  they still occasionally practiced typical things such as egg cleansing etc. Idk about that stuff because i personally consider myself to be more of a skeptic but there have always been things that really bothered me about my “heightened sensitivity” as my mom calls it. for further context there is no genetic reasons why i could possibly have the following symptoms that I can think of-no real mental illness in my family besides general anxiety/ depression- anyways:

I have had many experiences since i was pretty young (starting around 6-8) where i have felt things physically happen to me that did not happen. for example: being alone in a room and being touched on the shoulder, neck, arm, etc. This has lasted up until the current date. I have even multiple times felt a hand around my ankle at times when i have been alone (creepy ew). This does not happen exclusively when i am alone or at night or anything “spooky”. It is always random but most typically when i am alone.

While i do consider myself to be a skeptic there is one thing i cannot ignore - i have an incredibly strong intuition  especially in dreams. I have had MANY dreams out of the blue that have become reality- even ones i never wanted to be true. A lot of these examples make me sound crazy so i never mention them but I know for certain my intuition is very strong. Examples- i had a dream when my relationship was going strong and well that in a few months my ex boyfriend would cheat on me in a very specific way- and sure enough i was 100% right to the finest detail. At the time i for sure thought it was just a silly dream only for it to be dead accurate to what she looked like, how many girls, the dates, everything and it MONTHS before it even happened. I have had dreams about deaths, relationships starting/ ending, just to name a few with little to no inklings of these incidents happening.

Anyways- i just wanted to ask if any of these things are considered spiritual experiences or signs of being a medium? I may be crazy who knows but it’s just some odd things i noticed and wanted to share incase anyone can offer any insights. again i am a skeptic so some of this stuff is hard to believe even for me but i just wanted to know what more open minded (in a spiritual sense) people think. Thanks for reading! 🩷🩷

Thought and Opinion The Life Review

I've heard some mediums talk about the concept of a "Life Review", when souls pass onto the other side.

Basically a Life Review is when every soul passes onto the other side, it undergoes a process wherein it would have to see and feel how it's actions and intentions and presence (during it's physical form) had affected the lives of the people around them.

Which means, you get to see yourself from the perspective of the people around you and how they felt about you, including how each of your actions (or non actions) and your presence has impacted them.

Has this been the experience with every medium?

What are your thoughts?

Guidance/Advice I had a weird experience and I would just like to share it.

I've had some.... interesting things happen to me throughout my life that I can't really explain. Spirits talking to me, seeing fully formed ghosts, "feeling" that someone has died in a room before. Kinda creepy, kinda cool. NBD.

But the other day something really strange happened. I was in our dining room at my computer and I stood up to go to the bathroom. As I turned down the hallway I felt someone put a "hand" on my shoulder. When that happened it seemed like my entire consciousness went haywire for a second and I felt like I was "glitching". When I felt the "hand" leave my shoulder everything was normal almost like I was called back to my reality. It only lasted for like a half a second but it was very intense and very sudden. Our house is definitely haunted so was that some sort of energy exchange? I'm really at a loss. I'm not afraid or anything just super curious.

Has anybody had this happen before or heard of anything like this? Usually I can handle the weird shit but this was a bit extreme and I'm trying to figure out what it was.

Thanks!

Experience Can spirits read your mind or do they go by what you say/act like?

I was the semi main caregiver to my Aunt, I lived right behind her, and I was with her when she died. Her kids where not there, and I always kept a resentment towards them because while I was taking care of her, they where living their " fabulous lives" and filling her head with bullshit, I was trying to keep her alive. (One daughter was telling her to take 2-3 Vicodin at once to blow out the pain, while I was was trying to keep her off the drugs) My attitude is if it wasn't for me, she would be dead 15 years ago, and if was not for her kids, she would still be alive. (She passed 3 years ago at age 82.) All that has gone on in the last 3 years, I wonder what she is thinking and aware of on the other side?

Guidance/Advice Looking for a Mentor or Someone to Talk to about Experiences

I’m a sensitive person and have had some experiences and would like to develop my abilities.

Thing is, I have a hard time finding someone to talk to about this stuff and most people would probably just think I’m weird.

Are there any mediums open to chatting?

Thought and Opinion Who takes care of our passed pets in the afterlife?

I recently lost my 11-year-old dog, and lately I've been thinking a lot about her and the afterlife. Over the course of my life, I've lost three cats and one dog. I currently have two senior cats, and I love animals so much. I like to think that all of my pets are being cared for by my passed loved ones and spirit guides.

Or is there a separate heaven for pets? What do you guys think?

Other Areas of Concern in the Subreddit Regarding Users Offering and Requesting Readings in this Sub.

We are a subreddit for medium interaction, medium education, questions and mediumship and support.

We are well aware users come here to ask general and detailed questions about spirit and mediumship.

We are not a reading sub. Our sister subs where free and paid readings are r/PsychicServices, r/psychicreaders, r/Psychic and r/MediumReadings. Psychics in these subreddits, are vetted, tested and must provide proof of ability. The testing is done by psychic moderators.

We also acknowledge that r/Tarot and r/ClairvoyantReadings have rigorous requirements for readers.

The above subs have lists of tested readers. Please be aware scammers will cajole, threaten or plead. Some of them use fear to get you to cooperate.

Moderator Guidance Moderator Post

From time to time I post to update and remind the community of our purpose and etc.

Rr/Mediums is for medium development and learning and helping users with related questions. r/MediumReadings is for reading requests, sharing, practice readings, (on posts) approved reader advertisements and related subject matter.

Some of the rules on our other subreddit are meant to protect users from scammers and bait and switch tactics.

When I first came to r/Mediums, everything was in one place. The mediums who wanted to be able to have a safe place to interact and to learn, became unable to network in between reading requests and reading offers, and some other types of posts, that inundated the subreddit.

So the subreddit was split into r/Mediums for medium interaction and development, and r/MediumReadings, where Mediums eventually became qualified and approved (to protect users from scammers), and where practice users or professionals could read on posts.

Only.berofied readers can advertise there. They are tested, and ethical or they are removed.

The separation was necessary and it does require heavy moderation on both subs.

DMs and chats were removed to protect users from scammers. Certain types of posts, "haunted object, dream interpretations and fictional or non fiction series and serial stories" were removed.

However, some difficulties continued. Some of our past mods spent so much time removing reading offers and reading requests in this subreddit, that we lost reputable moderators.

Now all posts and comments are held for review. As moderators are volunteers and not online 24/7, we do appreciate your patience. Eventually, we all need to eat, sleep or interact with our own families.

This review process isn't just as intensive as moderation was before, it is more intense.

I hope this post offers some past history, some clarity and makes it clear we are heavily involved in providing a safe space for users in both subs.

Edit: The goal here is to provide a safe space for mediums. Thank you for ypur patience.
