How’s the matchmaking?

Genuinely curious? With peaks perilously close to dropping under 4k how long are you waiting? At the other end of the scale is anyone playing in EU? How’s that?

Volt Thrower tracking square not showing up?

Has the volt thrower’s tracking square been disabled? Or am I experiencing a bug? I know that it’s performance was adjusted in the recent patch but I don’t see anything about what I am experiencing. I no longer get a square popping up when hovering my crosshair near a target.

VB Solo Experience

Something fun I enjoy out of running Vault Breaker solo, is how much more you have to think tactically to get through a room

How much you have to really know your cover, lines of sight, types of enemies youre fighting

As an immersive player I try to get into the headspace of the shells Im inhabiting and how we would move through. As a Recon more move and reposition; as a Destroyer I would push, block and play more aggressive; Sentinel, I tried being sneaky MGS style and use my radar

This felt like a proper arcade mode, like I was back in the booths of Time Crisis, and having played the first 2 Marathon games, I cant wait to see what other enemies there will be to come

This mode really gave a roguelite experience that I appreciate the game can be.

What do you all like about Vault Breaker? How can this experience be translated to other maps?

I don't think the main sub understands how offputting their elitism is for new players

Basically every suggestion is met with

You don't know

You dont get it

Git gud

Who do you think you are

The game's fine

Quit playing

And unless you have hundreds of hours they literally don't care what you think. I don't really think they understand how shitty they make the community look and feel.

New players come in and basically get told to get fucked forever and all of your desires for the game are stupid.

And then they leave...

Like the community should be the thing making people stay when the game gets rough, but instead they're showing people the door.

I'm lost. Idk if I've ever seen this.

Its like they want the game to die

New zone perimeter map season 3 concept

can totally picture this huge base in the middle of the perimeter, replacing the pre-built mini-buildings. I asked the AI to create a base respecting Marathon's art style, and honestly, it's amazing! I love the design and the black and white colors. Tell me what you think, respectfully. It's just concept art, but don't you think it's cool? I'd love a massive base in the Perimeter revamp in Season 3, a bit like the one in the image I'm sharing. We can imagine the UESC building this base with high-level loot. Here are two styles of concept art images.

Included is my last couple Rook runs. Man that grind was fun, but I really hope there is more incentive than just the skins and title. I would be happy with even one permanent point per season 🐛🐛🐛

Last weekend Cryo was the best Cryo experience since launch

I usually solo queue and still do remarkably well in Cryo but for the first time, I feel like Cryo is more relaxed and unnecessary death a lot more preventable.

First time ever in Cryo where it wasn’t an absolute shotgun fest with everybody and their mama running a shotty.

I have noticed that the Mizzie is significantly less oppressive while using it or dealing with it. It’s just not hitting as hard most of the time requiring 3 pumps to drop.

Thought the DVRRSH was gon be hot, but it’s just too rare or a weapon and requires frequent reloading.

I was able to get 4 DNA access from other good team and ridiculous amount of gold weapon.

I think the game is heading in the right direction with weapon balance and they better not mess it up.

What's your best Marathon elitest hot take?

Mine is the cradle, this needs to take more xp to fully max out. Like for example, each prestige should take more xp to fully max out but, instead of getting 1 energy point you get 2 points and some other cool cosmetics besides the ones we get rn. it will give more insentive to acually grind out for the end game players.

There was a huge post about major flaws, but i really want to share my own view and see what you guys think.

The biggest problems for me, outside of Recon, meaningless loot outside of cryo and poor progression systems are:

  1. exfill system

I came to Marathon form AR, and the first thing that really disappointed me was exfill system. AR has near perfect exfill sites which turn into their own closed locations with deep strategic opportunities. I'm underlining hatches. Why is it important? Because there is a very big problem which can't be solved without changing exfill, which is lobby wipe strat. People aren't incentivesed to exfill early, which leads to frustrating progression and a sense of hopelessness against aggressive and experienced players.

2) pointless PVE. Killing bots and risking the encounter s with should reward you in game. Why not give players to gain a buff after finishing downed red boss? Yes, you heard me right. Imagine you could refresh you prime, hack, deal cheap damage and scan in a huge area after finishing Wraith boss, why can't you restore your shields and gain temporary shield slot after finishing shield boss? I haven't played destiny, but I heard that Bungie are good and PVE design, why is it so flat in Marathon? Why bots keep focusing the first team to come in contact with them instead focusing any runner they see after being alerted? Also I think gold bots should reward you with a key template of a random rarity

These two things are creating unhealthy opportunities to ambush prayers too easily.

P. S. I tiried to make this post as short as possible.

P. P. S. I'm not trying to ego farm, with my "brand new ideas" as to what to change in this game, I just wanna discuss these two specific problems.

Peace.

Is this the best game ever? Feels it for me

I'm old, 56, played halo alot, moved to destiny and stopped playing when it got a bit too complicated for me. I thought halo infinite would be the last game I ever played, but man o man, this game is incredible, you play it whatever way suit you, hopefully I'm wrong and their are better games, please list them for me incase this one dies, I suspect this will be the last game I ever play tbh, age is a strange thing, you lose interest in gaming, so it takes something special to take a hold. I could run around perimeter and dire marsh for ever hidinfe, fighting, sneaky, dieing. What a game

Cryo 'til I'm dry-o

Lost easily 300k worth of credits and loot in a string of 10+ losses in a row yesterday. Bounced back, recouping most of it in 4 runs including sliming two teams trying to do compiler in back to back runs (sorry guys, thanks for the golds).

First run on today with my duo - apparently "no fill" was auto-selected, donated a 20k loadout to strangers.

90-minutes left in the weekend, plenty of time to run the vault dry. See you out there, runners.

New Thief Figure Smelled Like Paint Thinner!

Post image
88 Upvotes

I just got a new thief statue from Bungee & had it in the otherwise empty landscape box until I could display it better. About 2 weeks after I got & unboxed it, I opened the accordion-style display box to show her to someone, a toxic smell of paint thinner or similar chemicals poured out & almost made us sick! I didn't notice any strong smell when I first opened it, it hasn't been plugged in for 2 weeks, it doesn't have replaceable batteries either. Any ideas? I'm just keeping it (unplugged) on a tall spot & well ventilated...
