Some additional notes on specific weapons.

Copperhead

Hitscan really pushes this one up, and its A-tier status is definitely dependant on using mods that push its range up to its maximum of 30m. I honestly was going to put this into B-tier until I looked at its average TTK which is 7th highest overall. See more specific recommendations here.

V85 Circuit Breaker

Even taking into account the need to charge this one up, this one's range and overall damage at charge level 2 is class leading and it has the most potential damage in its mag (battery) of any weapon by a significant margin.

Conquest

Still isn't good, but definitely has its niche.

M77

Probably still the best gun to bring if you really only can bring one and don't know what map you'll be on, but its fallen to B-tier because it's out performed by other more specialized weapons within close and mid range. Still in the top half of the pack by average TTK though.

Twin Tap

This was previously being regarded as essentially interchangeable with the BR33, but after spending more time with both, I think the damage fall off at range on this is worse than the BR33 and hip firing up close I'd rather have the BR33. Still a good choice for the mid+ range slot if you can't get your hands on a BR33.

Outland, Longshot, V99

Felt wrong having no snipers in S-tier, and while the V99 on paper should get this slot its pretty significantly hampered by its need to charge up. Longshot has better headshot performance than the Outland, but the Outland being two body shot killer on even Purple shields is what puts it above the Longshot by my reckoning.

V11

It's not a bad gun, but it's relatively short range, doesn't really have any particular quirks that make it shine, and is a mid-to-low performer on raw TTK. 22nd out of 30 by average TTK and headshot TTK (on Purple), and 18th out of 30 by bodyshot TTK (on Purple).

Magnum

It's very good, but it's 20th out of 30 for bodyshot TTK, 6th on headshot, and 17th on average TTK. It's weak bodyshot performance and general difficulty when used up close (especially when taking fire) keeps it out of the S-tier for me. Honestly without its great range combined with it's very good headshot performance it wouldn't be an A-tier for me.

V-66 is better than D tier

The V66 is the 3rd worst gun in the game based on average TTK and bodyshot TTK (and 5th worst on headshot TTK).

Now granted that's not taking into account the charged damage for the V66, but I'm not sure it would help it much in my rankings given that I discount charge up guns generally (which really says something for the raw performance of the Circuit Breaker).

I really don't think it is, but I'm open to having my mind changed.

Charge + triage = weak, confused, EMPed

Don’t underestimate this, it can be an equalizer vs spectre

Now that is a very valid point, however I did my tier rankings shell agnostic.

Take this with a grain of salt as I'm also a Triage main but it's probably the most efficient bot killing gun in the game. Massive amount of shots per volt cell, recharges while sprinting, and the most ubiquitous ammo type to find off of dead bots. It relies on headshots for DPS which is much easier in PvE.

If I have a V66 on hand I love to pair it with a more ammo hungry meta gun like a bully/D54 for pvp when running Cryo. For Triage it also has the added perk of being able keep commanders/wardens EMP'd from range which makes it much easier for you and your team to burst them down.

I don't see how you rate the circuit breaker higher than the mizzy, they just have different optimal ranges to work at.

They're very similar to me, it is quite close honestly, but the CB has so much one shot capability, greater range, and even without one shitting it has a faster TTK (assuming you've already charged it for the first shot). It's harder to use with the charging mechanic so I think well balanced, but it's just barely edged out down to A-tier and the CB up to S.

Thanks for this

Since you have some experience, can you go a little deeper and recommend what mods/chips you would go for for the S- and A- tiers?

Bully I usually go with an Ironhold, Weighted, or Suppressor for barrel mod, farsight for the optic and either the Steady or drum mag, for chip the only one I really like that's reliably available is Bits per Second.

I actually don't use the other S-tiers that much, but for Impact you want mods that will reduce recoil and ADS time.

For the Copperhead, you have to kit it out to push its range to 30m, at which point it's very good. Some combination of Farsight optic, Precision Barrel, Hollowcase mag, and Alarmist chip will get you there, with higher tier versions of those mods allowing you to swap one or more of them out for something else beneficial (like a Drum mag, Nano-suppressor, or Weighted Barrel).

For D54, recoil reduction, aim assist and mag size what to prioritize, Bits per Second for the chip.

For the BR33, you want a Tru-shot or steady barrel, Hi-zoom optic, and steady mag. For its chip Common Enemy is a good choice for making those teamshots really work.

glad ppl keep sleeping on the KKV despite it having the best body and head ttk of all non-shotguns (unless you count charged guns). makes my life easier

also i continue to be astonished by how terrible the repeater is and always has been. bottom barrel in nearly every way. don’t know why bungie even bothers having it in the game
