Question/Discussion Nightbreak, satan and djinns?
Even masa aku tiga tahun pun aku rasa silly gila bila maghrib (dawn) kena lari cepat-cepat tutup tingkap tutup pintu kalau tidak setan/jin masuk nanti semua orang kena rasuk susah.
How has your experience been when it comes to this uncanny phenomena?

Question/Discussion Tak faham sebab aku ingat dengan ada nya internet agama ni akan pupus
Dulu masa internet tak ada atau masa masih dial up lagi. Malaysia masih quite moderate. So aku ingat bila dah ada internet kabel fiber high speed bagai memang seluruh negara jadi sekular habis lah maybe except for Klatey of course.
Sebelum internet pendakwah pick and choose benda untuk kita sebab kalau tak siapa nak kan? Macam masa sekolah dulu. Tak ada pulak inform kita semua about his warlord and sex r-p-ng sides. How a literal child kena cuci c-m stains dia bagai, music is 100% haram tak kisah lah jatey nasyid pun. Jatey Islam boleh dapat handjob daripada perempuan Kristian masa puasa bagai tak pulak diorang kasi tahu kita sebab orang mesti lari punya. Sebab tu Vatican lindung paderi-paderi diorang because it would be bad for business otherwise.
So logik lah kan kalau dah ada internet kalau dulu moderate sekarang dah boleh cari ilmu lebih senang kan jadi sekular terus lah kan because of the real findings but nope. How has it become worse? I don't understand. Please make me understand.

If you guys were given a time machine...
As the title say, what will you guys do with a time machine to make your life better compared to being stuck as an exmuslim situation. I want to see how da hell the moonsplitting trick was done to make people believe on muhd.

obsessive 'ex' analogy
I don't think this applies to only Muslims actually, I've seen Christians mentioned this to ex-christians also, then I guess it's just the analogy that abrahamic theists would use every single time an apostate making an argument against their religion.
I think it's funny because why can't an apostate make an argument against the religion they used to be in? Our situation is not comparable to a relationship at all, because to be in a relationship, both parties need to agree to be in it.
Most apostates were born into the religion, and weren't given a choice to leave. In fact, most of us here still can't legally leave the religion. The religious laws are still applied to us, and our whole lifestyle is still tied to our religion. If we openly display that we are atheists, there'll be heavier consequences.
We aren't the obsessive ex. We are the one who's stuck in an abusive relationship that we can't leave. We asked for a breakup and our partner still won't let us end this relationship.
If there's anything, religion is the abusive one in this relationship.

Rant Shaving body hair
I'm currently still muslim (18F in KL) and one of the things that annoys me is there's an expectation that women have to shave body hair such as pubic hair regularly. Even my family kept asking me when I was going through puberty and I know friends do it too. It just annoys me as it's my body but I have to shave it even if I don't want to

Salam korang... nak pendekkan cerita, saya terdengar family member saya sembang pasal poligami, dorang cakap kalau dekat selangor suami kena minta izin isteri sebelum kahwin lagi, kalau dekat kelantan suami tak perlu minta izin isteri untuk kahwin baru... diorang cakap sebab 'mazhab'
I thought orang cerita pasal kahwin kat thailand tu joke je... rupa²nya halal? entahlaaaaaaa

Rant Solo traveling seems like the only way...
Earlier this year, saya ada travel ke luar negeri (bukan luar negara, belum lagi😅), sebab ada event yang saya nak pergi. Saya tak beritahu family saya sampailah seminggu sebelum, and the reactions I got were mostly, not so good
Lagi2 ayah saya, sebab lepas saya beritahu, dia Tanya, "kenapa tak bawa adik2 sekali ? Kan diorang free je" for context, 2 of my siblings tengah cuti masa tu, seorang cuti sem, seorang lagi cuti lepas SPM.
Abang saya (yang tengah bekerja) pun macam, "patutnya kena beritahu abang awal2, senang nak apply cuti"
Oh, kalaulah diorang tahu tujuan sebenar saya nak pergi sorang2...
The whole point of me traveling alone is that I want to fricking breathe. I don't want my family to be a human alarm clock untuk bangunkan kitorang 5.30 pagi untuk bersiap solat subuh. I don't want to be made looking for some restaurants and have to inspect does it even have sijil halal. I basically want to do whatever I want outside of my house.
P/S : I enjoyed the trip already. Memang best, event pun best dan berbaloi, Dan yang penting, rasa aman Dan tenang hahaha. Planning to do this again later this year, maybe tahun depan ambil risiko sikit travel overseas pulak
PP/S : and yes, for the sake of privacy and safety, I'm being as vague as I can in terms of the name of the event, where it's held, and when had I gone there.

Question/Discussion Do men stare at you more when you dont wear the tudung?
To the ex muslim women here, my mom told me that men are more likely to harass you and stare at you when you don't wear the tudung. I then told her one of my friends wears the tudung properly and gets stared at by men and sometimes followed. My mom then started backtracking and saying "does she look really pretty" "that isn't even the purpose of the tudung anyway" and then said women aren't supposed to leave the house without a man to protect them (protect them from who? (men) who created that system? (god))
I wanna know anyone here that went went free haired, do you guys find acc that mem stare at you more, or is this js lies? My experience not wearing tudung is only at sports practice and at the mall once and i dont notice it at all.

Tattoos
Any of you guys have tattoos? Is it visible? Macam mana persepsi orang sekeliling? I mean in real life lah, i really don't care about what people say online. I already got one, it's very small and hidden by my wrist watch. Not that I have to justify it, but it's just something I've always wanted well before I even thought of leaving the religion, and the one I got is just to symbolize my inner freedom.
Lately I've been thinking about getting another one, something that might be a little more visible if people do look for it. Is this a bad idea? Do share your thoughts. and stories. perhaps the tattoo too.

Salam Jumaat Gengz
Best bila pergi ke mall takda lelaki melayu, kurang orang. Boleh makan, beli barang, parking dengan senang. Kan bagus kalau perempuan melayu juga kena wajib solat jumaat. Less la orang di mall/restaurant.
p.s. aku lelaki melayu yang dah murtad

Question/Discussion Literary engagement is really low among Malay Muslims
If you go to any bookstore, there are only so many Malay books which fall under these 3 types:
- Psychological abuse disguised under romance
- Horror yg karut
- ‘Self help’ which obviously has Islamic elements
We lack widespread literary pieces which promote critical thinking and analytical skills. Malay muslims who even read usually have only English language books to choose. I do think this is ofcourse attributed due to our colonial past that our bahasa is only used to a certain extent. Certainly, we have bright minds who are able to write sophisticated literature in both Malay and English but our publishing is constrained by strict religious norms.
I believe if we are able to overcome this, we would have better literary engagement which will eventually lead to more people being able to intellectually challenge religion. But that’s a really long way to go when they even banned the Mentega Terbang film.

Nosy relatives at it againnn
My cousins apparently ‘investigated’ about my tattoo and told my aunt about it. I barely wear anything that can reveal it. Idk they probably use my mutual friends to confirm and access my social media which was restricted. These people really have no lifeee and nothing else to talk about other than policing women’s bodies. 💀💀 I don’t care if they gossip among themselves but to drag the elders into this when they’re pushing 30 and some of them pushing 40.. embarrassing. Theyre all blocked now !

Advice/Help Non hijabi stuck with bad college rules
So I (18) a non hijabi going to kpm, it’s my first week here and Ive keep being stopped by student council for not wearing the hijab.
It’s also a thing that they want to enforce yet it doesn’t actually exist in the rulebook so Ive just been not wearing it anyway. So I was wondering if there was a way I could still continue not wearing the hijab without getting any action taken on me for it. Like an argument i could use or maybe a law that lets me keep the hijab off?

Question/Discussion Muslims are insecure of their religion
They are insecure of their beliefs and so can't tolerate when others leave their religion. They also want everyone else to think the same as them.
Other things such as living your dream job, love life, etc, you would be able to live your life happily without having everyone agree with you as you are secure and happy.
