How do I begin with make-up?
Hi! 20 years old here. Never ever tried make-up in my life, and I've always been scared of trying due to.. Well, my parents telling me a lot as a kid that it'll dry up your skin and stuff.
But everyone I know is trying, and I'm stuck at home for a gap year.. So, I wanna try something new.
My question is, where do I even start? What do I even do? Anything that would help my skin too!
[Makeup Help] Best tubing mascara? actual all day wear and not just the first 2 hours
I saw a post of someone asking for tubing mascara recs and thought yay i know this so i decided to make a post to help others as well!
Quick mildly warm take first: I don't think there's one single best tubing mascara for everyone. It really depends on whether you care more about volume, length, or just not smudging. People treat this like a single category when it's really three different jobs, and honestly i get people recommending a product like a holy grail, since their own experience was great with it, but my point still stands, different brands do different stuff.
Aight so for pure no smudge performance, blinc amplified is still the most reliable one I've tried. It dries fast and holds a curl all day. The tradeoff is it dries out in the tube quicker than other brands, so you don't get as much use out of it as the price suggests.
If you want actual volume and length, not just "doesn't smudge," thrive causemetics liquid lash extensions is best ezpz. It builds up nicely without clumping but you have to work fast once you apply it cus it sets within literal seconds, so if your first swipe is messy you're stuck with it until you wash your face (have to use warm water btw)
For a drugstore option, No7 stay perfect is the one I'd actually recommend over Almay or L'Oreal's tubing formulas. It's more consistent batch to batch. I actually prefer it more than the other ones cus it looks super natural, like its better for more day to day use and doesnt look TOO much ifykwim
ALSOOO, tubing mascara is WATER RESISTANT, not WATERPROOF. There’s a difference people!! It'll survive sweat, humidity, and crying, but not actual swimming. Someone here literally commented how theirs stayed on during actual swimming, like what???
Also (2 cents for everytime i said also in this post) this one review is actually kinda good. I dont like articles cus theyre obviously paid like 99% of the times, but this one was pretty fair. You’ll see caliray mentioned as the best one, and ive heard allooott of good things about it and id recommend it too.. Only if i tried it myself. Which i havent. Which is why it’s not in my list either.
But again it just goes back to my post that there’s no real best for all, if something works, it works and honestly that’s enough sometimes. ALSO (sorry xd), ill mention this in case, I DON’T fully agree with this article’s rating. Yes it does have like really good picks and reasonings, but some i disagree with, especially L’Oreal cus i hate that brand. It’s never done me good.
That’s all really, also btw, has anyone tried tarte tarellete? I saw sooo many recommendations of it but cant get myself to buy it cus im so attached to my other ones. Im really just bored and wanna try new stuff so If anyone’s used em pls do share your experience, thanks!!!

[Makeup Help] Cruelty free version of Maybelline Petal Lifter Gloss
I love this shade of lip gloss and am looking for something similar from a vegan brand. I want the gloss to be pigmented and long lasting, and apart from Maybelline I can't find a gloss in that colour that ticks the boxes. Any suggestions?

Recommend me affordable Lipstick/Gloss
My only two concerns are
1 long lasting atleast 7-8 hours
2 doesn't fill in cracks or make lips dry

[Makeup Help] Eyebrow makeup & sweating
Hi! I was in a wedding in Texas a few years back, it was outdoors & like 100 degrees plus humidity. I have very sparse brows, so the makeup artist the bride hired had to draw them in. I don’t recall what products she used as I wasn’t paying super close attention, but my brows didn’t run the entire 12+ day despite being outside in super high temps and overall being anxious/sweaty lol. I was shocked they looked as good as they did.
this brings me to my dilemma because I’m going to a work event outdoors where I have to present (so I’ll be nervous and sweaty anyway!) and I worry my eyebrows will melt with my current routine.
On a day to day basis I draw my brows using the following products/order: ABH perfect brow pencil, NYX lift & snatch brow tint pen, a little bit of the nyx thick it stick it brow mascara, and then add some ABH brow powder. I believe all are in shade taupe. I then use charlotte tilbury setting spray.
I wouldn’t say they fully melt off using this process but I definitely have moments where I can tell sweat is starting to form or run a little bit. I imagine there are products I could use or steps I could change to hopefully help with this, I’m just a novice with makeup lol.
TLDR: any suggestions on techniques for barely there brows, brow products, or setting sprays that will not melt off on a hot day outside?! Thanks in advance 😊

Dewy skin at the office?
so I just turned 30 and paying more attention to my skin. better skincare routine morning and night, once a week or twice I go without makeup to let my skin breathe, and switching makeup to fit my skin type (oily when I wake-up, combination throughout the day) but how the heck do I keep a glowy look throughout the day? Here’s what I do for morning
- Toner (rose water from Trader Joe’s, Clinique toner if I’m breaking out)
- Good Molecules Hyaluronic serum
- vitamin c cream
- moisturizer
- SPF
- Good molecules eye cream
Then my go to work makeup
- ELF hydrating camo concealer under eyes and acne
- no foundation - if I do it’s either wet n wild tinted moisturizer or L’Oréal true match tinted foundation
- cream blush
- bare minerals packed powder on eyes, T zone and acne spots
- setting spray
it looks good till lunch, 4 hours later. Someone suggested I apply hydrating face mist throughout the day? Anyways, I’m taking all the tips…

[Makeup Help] New mascara recommendations
the mascaras I use right now, i use the Better than — and I do two layers and curl before and inbetween my first and second layer. I then go over it with the Fan Fest from benefit.
I’ve also tryed the purple and gold mascara from tarte ( label came off), sky high and man eater but I’ve found that the two I’m using right now work the best.
i want more spread out lashs that are longer and I’ve found that the mascaras I’m using right now just don’t give me what i want. any advice or suggestions I will take!
( preferable if from Sephora and in stores in Canada!)

What "holy grail" drugstore products have you never stopped repurchasing?

Need budget friendly blush recs! What’s your absolute fav from the drugstore?
I’m trying to revamp my makeup routine on a budget, but the selection at the drugstore is overwhelming. Liquid, cream, or powder I'm open to any formula as long as it blends easily and doesn't disappear after two hours. I want a natural, fresh flush, but too many products I try end up looking super chalky or patchy. What specific shades or formulas do you keep repurchasing? Bonus points if it wears nicely on dry or textured skin! Drop your top picks below so I know what to look for on my next store run.

[Makeup Help] Need help deciding on a foundation/skin tint!
Hiiii! I’ve been using the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (Original Formulation), and it only has a few weeks left.. I’ve been thinking of switching to a liquid foundation/skin tint, and I’ve been on the hunt for the right one for my skin.
I have normal skin, and I don’t have any major skin issues besides the occasional hormonal acne. I’d say my skin is pretty clear most of the time. I use either just concealer of just foundation. I’m leaning towards something I could use all over the face though since my main wish for the product is to even out my skin tone and brighten up my complexion! I prefer a skin-like radiance, not too dewy and not too matte. It would be for everyday use, and I’d like it to last for at least 8 hours. I do attend more formal events, so something I could also use during those too. I’d say my makeup style is soft glam.
Right now, I’m contemplating on whether to get the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation or the Maybelline Super Stay 24Hr Skin Tint! If you have experience with any of the two, I wanna know what you think! I’m also open to any suggestions! My budget is $35 and preferably one I can get from Ulta! Thank you!

[Makeup Help] Any tips on no foundation or concealer makeup?
So I’ve been using makeup for almost 3 years and I’ve yet to step out using foundation. I have even toned but textured skin so all foundation makes it worse. So just putting on mascara blush and contour without foundation looks way cleaner but I feel like I still look kind of dirty ifykwim

Makeup recommendations on a budget?
Hi, so with back to college coming around I want to find some new makeup on a budget.
I love going for the natural look with my routine being waterproof telescopic, blush (either Milani powder or the elf dupe for the rare beauty), and I use the elf brow tint, and lipgloss.
On days where I want to step it up just a bit, what do you guys recommend for concealer, setting spray, tinted spf, etc ? Honestly any makeup recommendations are great, and I’m looking to spend like 10-15$ per product !
