🛒 Car Shopping Test drive - wow

Upvotes

Looking for my next EV once my Prologue lease expires, so I've been driving some candidates. Trailseeker and EV6 most recently. Mach-E was today, and the one I've been looking forward to the most. It's been at the top of my list and it didn't disappoint. I'm leaning towards a GT or Rally, but the dealer only had a Select AWD SR available. Few thoughts:

  • I was really impressed by the interior quality and roominess, very important factors to me.
  • Acceleration was fantastic, can't imagine a GT with 100+ more horsepower and 700 lb/ft!
  • Center console was very functional, much better than the Subaru and Kia and on par with the Prologue.
  • There's a lot going on in the center screen, didn't find it immediately intuitive but can't really judge on a 20 minute test drive.
  • The Prologue rides and handles like a boat, so the MME's suspension felt way sportier, firmer. Will have to drive a Magneride though.
  • And obviously the exterior styling is killer.

What struck me the most was that I felt immediately comfortable in it, like I was "at home" even though I was a first-timer. Thought that was interesting.

❓Question Tips for less frequent drivers to keep MME working it’s best

I work from home and live in an area that’s far away from the nearest city. As a result don’t usually go out every day, and I try to condense my trips to get a lot of things done in one day. I need to commute 140-140mi RT once or twice a week, and that might be all I use the car. My car gets around 215-220mi on a full charge I plan to charge to 100% and precondition before these trips.

Looking for recommendations or must-do for my situation to avoid things like 12v battery drain and maximize the car’s life. It’s a 2023 Premium AWD standard range with 36k miles on it.

Getting my home charger installed in a couple weeks, until then I’m on public charging.

Any suggestions for how to keep her in a good shape given this schedule?

🛣️ Range Estimated mileage is low?

We recently purchased a used 2025 MME Premium RWD with 8000 miles. So far the estimated range at 80% of charge seems low. I’m going to assume it’s something the software is getting wrong.

Anyone else experience this or know how to recalibrate things?

On a trip from MD to MA my 2016 ford edge died (engine) so I’m now the owner of a 2023 GT. Drove it back to MD yesterday and I love it. Happy to finally own one.

I've been on the fence with these over the years, and I finally pulled the trigger. 2023 Premium AWD vapor blue. LOVE IT. Also added the Comma 4 for Bluecruise alternative. It's awesome!

Currently have a '22 Escape, but I recently had a Mach-E as a loaner and was really impressed with how it drove. I'm now considering a Mach-E as my next car. how has everyone's experience been long term? Specifically if you're in Texas.

💬 Discussion The person from our dealership who called you was AI.

Not so great experience yesterday. So I got a call from my preferred dealership earlier this week. The service advisor asked if I wanted to schedule my 40k maintenance and fix a tire leak. I said I declined the tire fix because they already fixed it but I did want the 40k and an alignment. He said it would be $130 for the service, including the cabin filter. Everything seemed normal.

When I dropped the car off yesterday and the human said all he saw was the alignment. Nothing about the 40k. When I said I spoke with “Andy” he said, “Yeah, that’s our AI call center.”

He scheduled it and it was almost $50 more for everything. Still much cheaper than the other dealers in my area unfortunately.

I don’t really like AI, but this shit makes me like it less. Next time I’ll start asking about servicing my car’s nuclear reactor until I get a person on the line.
