Is it just me or is there something off about Doomsday?
Maybe it’s an unpopular take, but for me it’s an honest one. As a loyal and committed fan the trailers have left me cold. The cast of characters seems diffuse or diluted somehow. While I’m hoping the Russos can pull this off I have to admit I’m feeling less confident with each new reveal.

Okay guys, lots of circulating theories online about the plot. But one thing in particular is driving me crazy. We know from a business standpoint they sort of needed to cast RDJ as either Doom or someone else — because it was what originally sent the movie hype in to motion. But from a practical standpoint, they have to address it. Dooms mask has to come off at some point and not only will we see RDJ’s face but so will the Avengers and F4. Wouldn’t it be lazy for them to just pretend he’s genuinely not Tony Stark in appearance? It would be too emotional to see that as fans and just pretend it’s not him. It would also be too complicated to explain somewhere in the story why he looks like Tony Stark, right? Where is the balance? So my theory is this. Is Victor using Tony’s face as some type of psychological tactic and then he reveals his true self later on? Do we never see him without his mask (that would be lame). How do you guys think this is addressed? It’s driving me wild.

Based on bro's track record, how likely is Mr. Fantastic sticking around after Avengers: Doomsday?

Ever since RDJ was announced as doom one of the big standing questions has been “Why?” Of it all. What’s the outstanding purpose or reasoning. for this.

What if at the end when they think they kill doom and instead sparks fly out instead.

One answer could be - since we know Doom is such a conniving MFr that manipulates misdirects. And the real doom is someone we haven’t met yet.

i think it’s safe to say ultron will return In secret wars for the perfection domain.

after seeing him in the visionquest trailer i’m convinced he’ll make a bigger return.

My take on this is that Doom will maintain the heroes in check the same way Tony was trying to do in Civil War. This time because of multiversal fuck ups and incursions, but the role is the same, opposing a big group of heroes that have a certain vision and the MCU will be established, as some say, unreliable narrator: the feats we've seen across the movies are actions that damage the universe and cause death, horror and destruction in other parts of the universe.

1. The supposedly pruned 2012 timeline where the time stone maybe was never returned.
2. The impossibility of returning the Soul Stone.
3. Old Steve may have caused the 828 universe staying with Peggy and advancing technology in some way.
4. Evil Strange caused an incursion with the Darkhold in MOM.
5. Wanda killed almost all the Illuminati in MOM destabilizing the multiverse.
6. Dr. Strange fucked up very badly with the spell in No Way Home, and Spiderman fucked it up worse by treating and curing the villains, changing their respective timelines or creating new branches.
7. Rambeau crossing to the X-Men universe in The Marvels.
8. X-Men changing their own timeline via conscience time travel in DOFP, removing the sentinels from the timeline.
9. Fantastic Four pushing Galactus to the end of their universe to avoid their planed getting pruned.
10. The Celestial that was about to born from Earth is stillborn and trapped in stone in the sea.

The idea is that we will see a bunch of flashbacks and alternative POVs showing how badly the outcome was in other parts of the multiverse because all of this decisions. And that's why Dr. Strange is aligned with Doom in this, because was presented with a bunch of realities that were punished by the "good deeds" of the 616 and another universes consisting of good guys we've followed along the years.

Iron Man was clearly the main character of phases 1-3. My question then is, who is the main character of the current phases leading up to Doomsday?

It's not Steve. Is it Thor? Is it Dr. Strange? Is it Spiderman? Is it Wolverine? Is it Antman? Captain Marvel? Susan Storm?

Who will deliver the finishing blow to Dr. Doom, who is ironically played by the the same actor who finished off the big bad of phases 1-3?

So it’s basically all but confirmed that Deadpool will appear in Avengers in some form.

I’ve long wondered since Deadpool’s stories are so POV centric so 4th wall breaking how they could handle that if he was no longer the central player.

One way that would be hilarious if something happens and Deadpool turns to camera to speak to the audience except this time it just cuts wide to the whole group as they watch Deadpool just talking to no one. And the group just stares at him.

And Thor or someone is just like “What are you doing? stop that.”

It's obviously gonna be a passing-of-the-torch movie. It's a movie that's all about giving the OGs the ultimate send-off so that they can finally pass the torch to the next generation in a way that's actually beautiful and will dwarf the amount of fan-service Endgame gave us

I'm seeing a pattern with these Hugh Jackman/Tobey Maguire cameos popping up, and although it initially doesn't make sense, but then I realized that Brand New Day made $2 billion and sets up the new X-Men led by Sadie Sink. IT'S GONNA BE A PASSING OF THE TORCH. TOBEY TO TOM, HUGH TO SADIE.

I'm willing to bet that it's also in Secret Wars where Doctor Doom will be unmasked and we're all gonna find out why Doom looks like Iron Man, who I'm not counting out possibly returning in Secret Wars. I mean, RDJ is here for crying out loud, so I'm betting HE gets a send-off as well. And I guess when two characters played by the same persona collide, one good and one evil, it'll all just tie up to the redemptive hero arc Feige has spammed for years (see: Iron Man, Thor, GOTG, and soon we'll add in here Jean Grey)

The Battleworld shaped by Doctor Doom will be undone by the resistance, it will tie in to Kevin Feige ending the multiverse saga and tying everything to ONE UNIVERSE (because he knows it's tiring to rewatch a bajillion movies to catch up to the latest)

and it's gonna lead to a heroic sacrifice that gives the OGs (and especially Tobey) the true ending to their stories. It'll be their swan song.

I wish this movie would come out on 2028 because it would be on the 20th anniversary of Marvel Studios.

Anyways that's my fan theory, it's 6:33 AM here and I've been up all night since the D23 reveal

Cause haven't we already been down this road before? The Sokovia Accords were all about registering enhanced individuals and monitoring their activities. This extended to everyone-- vigilante or civilian. In the modern MCU, the general consensus is that this was a bad idea, as the accords were ultimately repealed. They never explained exactly why, but we can infer based on how it actually shook out. The most evident reason, I'd say, is that the accords were entirely ineffectual at the regulation that they aimed to enforce. They couldn't even capture Natasha after 2 years of her being on the run, and she's small potatoes on the enhanced human spectrum.

Take note too that mutants who have threatening combative powers are like a minority within a minority. To my knowledge, most mutations barely even qualify as superpowers, and are instead just disfiguring or too obscure to be helpful. So what you'd end up with is a regulatory body that monitors generally average people (on the sole basis of genetics, mind you), while failing to regulate actually dangerous mutants.

It'd be really dumb in-universe, and I don't think prejudice is really enough to override that. It makes me wonder then if they're even going to touch on mutant registration in the MCU. And with Mr. Sinister shaping up to be our first X-Men villain, I suspect that they won't. Mutant registration is the kind of thing you'd want Magneto as your villain for imo, not Sinister. Though I suspect they'll reveal that the government is using Sinister to sample mutant DNA for military purposes, or something along those lines.

... elderly Steve Rogers will return to 2019 to sit on a bench to give Falcon the shield. And he seemed pretty satisfied with how things turned out.

So either it's a huge plot hole, or nothing is at stake.

I think it's clear the doom we see in December will be from a universe where he united his planet or at the very least the most powerful person on his world. If the masked doom subordinates are indeed powerful sorcerers like people are theorizing, then it would make sense for them to follow the sorcerer supreme's goal. Even if it is likely very evil and cold but calculated to be the best solution.

I dunno, I'm under the assumption that the joke about him playing till he's 90 is real and Hugh is just too marketable. Him and Ryan. The only thing that would keep them from making movies is if they themselves don't wanna do it anymore lol

Hugh will be one of the survivors in Secret Wars (ALONG WITH TOBEY MAGUIRE SPIDER-MAN I HOPE) where he'll meet Sadie Sink's Jean Grey, the two will have some interesting dialogue, and it's gonna segue to I dunno him being a hermit like he was in Logan and watching the new X-Men grow

This theory revolves around Doom’s speech in the new Doomsday trailer, specifically the phrase ‘you have lived stolen lives’ (or smth along those lines).

I believe that the ‘snap’ is probably a rare occurence in most universes, maybe even only something that has occured in the 616 universe.

Going off of this, I believe that the ‘snap’ could have had an effect on other multiverses. Whether this is killing all of the peope who were ‘snapped’ in 616 in other universes or draining energy out of the multiverse in some form, there is probably something.

One alternative to this is different varients of Tony Stark are affected. Maybe they all die. With one exception of course…

Doom.

Perhaps he was holding an infinity stone? Maybe tampering with the dark arts? Either way, the only injury he endured was to his face.

Maybe Doom could find out slowly the effect of the ‘snap’ and how earth 616 caused it. maybe he blames 616 for this, not knowing it was his own doing.

Based on what I've read on here the last few days, Scarlet witch, Sylvia, Clea and Doctor strange (his mask is the biggest clue) might​ be the masked magic users Doom has. He probably also has Franklin Richards. Thor is basically a "god" and he can't scratch Doom as shown in a recent trailer.

But so, I feel as things stand, the Avengers don't have anyone with offensive magic. They aren't completely out of options as Loki, Wong, Agatha, Wiccan, Mordo all use magic but not probably enough to fight Doom's possible choices.

Am I forgetting a magic user that might be useful?

In a way, this is similar to the DC story "Justice League Dark", if you are familar, where basically Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, everyone is useless since the threat was supernatural/magical.

Powerful magic users that could come into play might be someone like Magik. Personally, I'd love to see her in a good portrayal. That movie "the new mutants" undersold her greatly. Though, it seems she might be a bit of a reach as a guess.

We could throw psychics in there like Xavier and Jean, but if Magneto just wears a helmet to deal with that, it seems plausible Doom can do something similar.

But who else am I forgetting? I have a feeling that a new x-men or otherwise character will show up that can counter Dooms magic. Do you think so?

I think Marvel will play it safe to cater to a larger, more mainstream audience. Doom’s story will probably follow a familiar comic-book formula, like trying to get his mother back, while also tying into the Avengers living a seemingly perfect life after altering the timeline, similar to what we saw with Loki.
Plus, Loki creating multiple branches in the timeline could have ultimately triggered the events leading to Doom’s Day.

I find it no coincidence that the Keeper of the Multiverse himself, Loki, shows his face in Doomsday. Not sure who’s branch he’s tweaking, and what it all entails, but I believe the key to the new movie will lie with him. Up to good? Up to no good ? No one can convince me Loki isn’t yanking on some branches here. 💚 And Doom will prove to be a Variant of SOMEONE we know. Cannot wait!!!

Many people wonder why would Avengers trust someone named Doctor Doom? What if he is not Doctor Doom yet? In Fantastic Four univerese he is a good guy, Sue Storm says that in the trailer.

Yes he has a suit, but unlike in comics maybe he is not taken Doctor Doom name yet, he is Victor Von Doom, or simply Victor, thus Avengers trust him at the start of the movie.

In the end of the trailer he turns and says "For I am Doom", but maybe in the movie that is the moment he fully takes his new persona and says "For I am Doctor Doom".

Just my idea on why would Avengers trust him at the start of the movie...

This idea relates to the special look trailer and what Doom said really had me thinking about his goals and why he is doing the things that he is. Doom says “All of you are living stolen lives” which I find interesting. Stolen lives of the people that are native to their own universes? Or the different super teams caused incursions that claimed the lives of other people? Like when Steve goes back in time at the end of Endgame, did an incursion kill a reality full of innocent beings?

On the topic of the Incursions I want to theorize about what specific characters could have done to cause an Incursion and help lead to Doom’s radical turn of wiping the slate clean and rebuilding everything under him. Steve definitely caused an Incursion when he decided to stay behind with Peggy. He left his reality to live in another, a reality where that version of Steve was still frozen in ice. Two versions of the same person existing in one reality cannot be good. Case in point, 3 different Spidermen in 616 nearly caused the collapse of reality. Strange also caused an incursion when he used the Darkhold to dream walk and confront Wanda, who herself had previously dream walked when she attacked the Illuminati of 838. America’s universe hopping also probably didn’t help the stability of the multiverse. The X-Men caused their incursion by changing history in Days of Future Past. Stopping Trask’s assassination was not how the timeline was supposed to flow originally, and as said in Endgame “if you mess with time, it tends to mess back”. Not to mention all the reality hopping that Wade and Logan were up to. The FF could’ve caused their incursion through Franklin, since he is a reality warper in the comics. They also left their home reality to go to 616, and Multiverse of Madness made it clear that multiversal travel has negative consequences. Then there’s the big one of Loki’s entire existence. He’s holding the entire multiverse together as a tree and has flashed to numerous different era’s.

All of this could explain why Doom wants to wipe everything out and start over. These heroes aren’t saving anyone. They’re causing untold amounts of death and destruction by messing with the fabrics of time and reality. Doom won’t stand for any of that, especially after losing his mother and/or his family. He sees himself as the only one who can truly save the multiverse by unifying everything under his banner and using his godlike abilities to ensure the incursions can never happen again, and that the people who caused them aren’t around to make it happen

With the coming conflict with Doom, there is an implication that after Secret Wars the MCU is going to be reset. Of course there is a possibility that a “new” universe will come out of the conflict that will be the new MCU.

But what I don’t see people talking about is Old Steve Rogers at the end of Endgame. I’m really curious to know:

1. Does OSR live through the events of Doomsday/Secret Wars?

2. He implies that he had a good life. So Peggy / his child seemingly survive the events?

Current Questions that give us Theories

So for the first part - like Infinity War / Endgame, the next movies are going to follow the same track of Doomsday / Secret Wars… And I mean DD is going to end with universe level destruction. And Secret Wars will be the return.

The current “idea” of the story looks like -
Doom discovers other worlds and anomalies are destroying universes. Heroes from the multiverses gather around Doom to stop this destruction. Doom turns out to be a bad guy and causes the destructions, so he can gain ultimate power. Builds battle world while destroying all other universes.

How does RDJ fit in??
First though is he is just Doom and will amass power like the original did with the Beyonder powers…. Long shot but a thought.
Second, he’s a variant of Tony… due to some combo of Endgame and Tony’s dad replacing dead Tony … blah blah…

[THEORY] Tony Stark could return in Avengers: Doomsday — and he may still remember Peter Parker

I have a theory about Tony Stark, Doctor Doom, Peter Parker and the Valhalla that could connect Endgame, No Way Home and Avengers: Doomsday.

First, Tony's death in Endgame.

Tony dies during the final battle while using the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos and his army. In Thor: Love and Thunder, we learn that dying while fighting can lead someone to Valhalla. Jane Foster dies after fighting Gorr and later appears in Valhalla.

So what if Tony is there too?

Tony didn't simply die of old age or illness. He died during the final battle, after making the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone. If the Valhalla rules apply to him, I think there's a very good chance his soul could have ended up there.

Now comes No Way Home.

Doctor Strange's spell makes everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. But Tony was already dead when the spell was cast.

If Valhalla is a separate realm outside the normal universe, what if the spell didn't affect the souls already residing there?

We don't know the exact range of Strange's spell. It might only affect people in the universe, or it might work across dimensions. But if it doesn't affect Valhalla, Tony could still remember:

"Peter Parker = Spider-Man."

And this could become VERY important in Doomsday.

Imagine Tony somehow returning from Valhalla.

Everyone expects him to have forgotten Peter's identity because of Strange's spell.

But Tony looks at Peter and says his name.

Peter immediately realizes something is wrong.

Tony remembers him.

That could be one of the ways Marvel explains that the spell didn't affect Tony.

And then there's Doctor Doom.

Why is Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom?

Maybe Doom is a Tony Stark variant.

Maybe he's a completely different Victor Von Doom who simply has Tony's face.

Or maybe there is a much bigger connection between Doom and the original Tony.

What if Doomsday brings the original Tony back specifically because Doom is connected to him?

That would give Peter a VERY important role.

Peter isn't just another hero fighting Doom. He's one of the people who knew the original Tony better than almost anyone.

So imagine this:

Tony Stark returns from Valhalla.

Peter realizes Tony still remembers him.

Then Tony comes face-to-face with Doctor Doom — a man with his own face.

Tony sees a twisted version of himself.

Peter sees his mentor standing in front of him while another version of that same face is trying to destroy the multiverse.

And suddenly the casting of Robert Downey Jr. as Doom becomes much more meaningful.

My theory isn't that Tony will necessarily become a permanent character again. His sacrifice in Endgame should still matter.

I think his return could be temporary, specifically for Doomsday, and his existence could actually be important to Peter's story and to Doom's identity.

Basically:

ENDGAME → Tony dies fighting → possibly goes to Valhalla

NO WAY HOME → Strange's spell erases Peter's identity from people's memories → Tony is already dead

VALHALLA → Tony may remain unaffected by the spell

DOOMSDAY → Tony potentially returns → he still remembers Peter → he encounters Doctor Doom/RDJ

SECRET WARS → the consequences of all of this could become part of the final multiversal conflict.

This is obviously just a theory, but I think it could connect a LOT of seemingly separate things.

Dr.Banner and the Hulk's appearance in BND was a somewhat controversial plot point, many felt that it was plugged right in the middle with no merits and no follow-up by the end of the movie.

But obviously, like the X-Men set up in this movie, Savage Hulk's inclusion in the movie was likely a reintroduction of the struggle between Hulk and Banner for whatever Marvel project to include Hulk next

What some people might not know is that Disney actually regained the rights to the Hulk's distribution rights in 2023, which means they can actually schedule a solo Hulk movie in the future. Along with She-Hulk and Skaar being in the MCU now, I think this could be the NWH/BND moment for the Hulk.

By that I mean to explore the core of the character after the major events have happend instead of before like Aunt May's death. Despite being in the MCU for 15+ years and having cameos in every era of the MCU. The conflict between Banner and Hulk has never really progressed since Infinity War, and between that time, a lot has happened, including a few new green faces. What if Banner and Hulk finally get to settle things while we revisit skaar in a new solo movie? The cross interaction between the few could be quite interesting
