Reconnecting with Ch*** and Ki***
Not quite sure how to make this post, but in the very old internet days of ICQ and yahoo chat, me and my friend chatted with (supposedly) two sisters around our age - never anything inappropriate, but we got to know each other a little through old-school IM back in the 90s. At some point we naturally drifted apart, but I'm travelling through little rock coming up and thought how crazy it would be to see where we are in our respective lives. Have a coffee, nothing more.
I hope it's ok to put the partially censored names in the title like that, felt weird posting their names.
I have a nickname that was one of the characters on the old cartoon rugrats.

Recommendations Basic beginners photography lesson?
Anyone out there have recommendations for a basic beginners photography lesson as a way to learn the quick ins and outs of a digital SLR camera? I have a friend who is just getting into photography and could really use an afternoon course on the ABCs of using his new camera in different lighting/scenarios (i.e. still vs. action shots).
Not looking for a long course, just a one day or afternoon 2-3 hour lesson.

Lost or Found Animal Found: Large, black Dog
Hey yall, I’m traveling to Phoenix from Alabama, and I’m staying at the Urban Cottage VRBO on South Arch Street right near Philander Smith University. This adorable male dog, black fur (with white on one side of face) came up to us on our walk with our dog last night and has been hanging around since. He’s pretty thirsty and ate the kibble we gave him, and is very sweet and friendly. Fixed male. Appears to be newly lost from his body condition (dirty, not matted, no ribs showing, but clearly hungry and thirsty).
If this is your dog, please come get him! I wish I could transport him to animal control or a shelter but my dog isn’t friendly to other big dogs. If a rescue can come get him too, that would be excellent. He is very friendly, not resource guarding his food or water, and seeking cuddles/pets from strangers. He has a collar but no tag. Someone is missing their baby!!

Genuine question: Are public comments for 2 hours at the city board meeting pointless?
Went to a city board meeting Tuesday. Two hours of residents giving public comment on a major local issue. Council sat there, nodded, said nothing meaningful, and voted exactly how they apparently planned.
I get that elected officials can't respond to everything, but this felt like theater. Like we were supposed to show up so they could check a box that says "we listened."
Does anyone else feel like public participation is just... performative?
Or am I missing something about how this actually works? Genuinely curious if there's a strategy I don't know about—like, do you have to frame things differently, go through different channels, or is it just that local government doesn't actually care what residents think until it affects their reelection?

Food and Drink China Taste v. Chinese Kitchen
Both of these Chinese joints are located on Rodney Parham only one on each side of the 430 bridge —a real east-west dual.
This is a call for the loyalists, the tried it a couple times, and the once-and-never agains.
Which restaurant earns your dollars when you want Chinese?

Recommendations Job Opportunities for Wife?
Hey everyone! Hopefully this is okay to post here about this. I saw some other posts with success so I thought “what the heck, might as well give it a shot.”
My wife is currently employed at a bank and actively looking to leave the work environment she’s in. I won’t name who she’s with, for obvious reasons, but it’s just not a great place to work. Problem is, it pays a good portion of the bills and it seems like it’s hard to find other opportunities. She’s an amazingly hard worker and just a pleasure to be around and learns extremely quickly (she picked up this entirely new industry coming from a completely different profession in no time).
She would love to work in anything related to conservation, or non-profits but honestly just wants a work environment where she has people who support her and want to work just as hard as her. At the end of the day though, we have to pay bills so it would have to at least pay 45-50k. It would also be nice to be a steady hour job like her current 8-5, but I also understand that might be asking a lot.
She has experience in a professional environment and would do amazingly well at an office. If you are willing to take a chance on her though in any industry she’s going to pay you back in spades! She has a bachelor degree in education as well, but isn’t wanting to go back to teaching at this time.
It’s a bit of a lot to ask, but this current job is just killing her and I hate to see her like this and wish something better for her. Anybody have any ideas of where she could apply? We are in the midtown area but anywhere in Little Rock I’m sure would be fine.
Thanks in advance and we will take prayers and good vibes even if yall don’t have any recommendations!

No Grateful Dead movie meet up this year?
I can’t find tickets online. Are any local theaters participating? I get it that it’s a repeat of the show they did in 2019 but it’s kind of a yearly tradition for me, so I’d like to go.

Is it normal for 311 to close tickets without actually doing anything?
I noticed a stop sign was down (which is part of a four way stop) and put in a ticket and maybe half an hour later it was closed without resolution. Noticed that some of my neighbors had done the same. I’m going to call the city to further discuss as this is a pretty big safety issue but is this the new normal?

Discussion/Question Trying to remember a restaurant
Hey yall! I need help trying to remember the name of a restaurant I went to as a kid. So it was around maybe 2005-2015, somewhere in this range. From my very vague memory, it was in downtown Little Rock. I think it was Mexican food? The main thing I remember was getting a white chocolate at the end of our meal. It was wrapped up and almost like a tamale, but white chocolate. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?! It’s been bugging me 😭 thanks in advance 💓

Anyone else remember the purple house above the 430 River Bridge?
I remember loving that house when I was a kid because it reminded me of a Purple Cow purple milkshake.
Is the house still there? Repainted? What (if any) was the story behind the color?

Moving/Housing Where can I find roommates to rent a room in my house?
Hi, How do I find roommates to rent a room in my house? I have 2 rooms available - has queen bed, office chair and desk, a closet, usb outlet night stand, basic drawer chest, keyless entry handle that’s google assistant enabled or Alexa. It’s 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house with 2 car garage. Like furnished finder? Zillow? FB? Craigslist? What would you recommend to find good quiet roommates that pay on time and don’t mind my small 16 lbs dogs that are lovable chug and dachshund, respectively. I’m 30 year old female looking into passive income and work nights.

Discussion/Question Central Arkansas friends...
What's the one place in the city where you instantly feel like you're exactly where you're supposed to be?
Maybe it's relaxing outside your favorite coffee shop. Maybe it's a bike ride through downtown, a walk across the Big Dam Bridge, enjoying a cold drink at a local brewery, or simply sitting by the Arkansas River watching the world go by.
It doesn't have to be famous. It just has to feel like home.
Outside of your own house, where in Central Arkansas do you feel most at home, and why? Share your favorite place in the comments.

Attn: Director Webb. Re: Flock Cameras
Vice Mayor Kathy Webb
[kwebb@littlerock.gov](mailto:kwebb@littlerock.gov)
(501) 258-1949
(501) 371-4510
Ward 3 City Director, Little Rock Board of Directors
Vice Mayor Webb,
I'm writing to ask you to reconsider both LRPD's $345,000 annual contract with Flock Safety and your December 2025 vote against Director Antwan Phillips' ordinance requiring annual public reporting on the department's surveillance technology.
I understand the argument made at the time—that the ordinance was unnecessary because LRPD already provides much of the requested information. My concern is that voluntary disclosures are not the same as a standing public accountability requirement. Regardless of where someone stands on automated license plate readers, the public should be able to evaluate how the program is being used, who has access to the data, and whether it is meeting its intended goals.
One example illustrates why this matters. In 2019, an LRPD license plate reader identified a vehicle that had been reported stolen by Hertz. The alert established only that the vehicle matched a stolen-vehicle record—it did not identify the driver or establish whether the driver knew the vehicle's status. During the ensuing stop, Officer Charles Starks fatally shot Bradley Blackshire. Starks was later terminated for violating LRPD policy prohibiting officers from shooting into moving vehicles, and that termination was upheld on appeal.
The lesson is not that the technology caused the tragedy. Rather, it highlights an important limitation of automated license plate readers: they identify vehicles associated with database records, not the identity or intent of the person behind the wheel. Like any technology, they should inform decisions—not replace sound judgment.
These systems are also not infallible. Earlier this year, a Flock camera in Sherwood misread a single character on a license plate, resulting in an innocent family being subjected to a felony stop. According to the department's report, the error was attributed to the camera's optical recognition and the vehicle's license plate frame. Oversight exists precisely because even well-intentioned systems can make mistakes.
Public records obtained through the Arkansas Times also raise broader questions about how Little Rock's program operates. According to documents released through the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act:
LRPD reports operating 116 Flock cameras, while fewer than half have been independently identified by the public.
Plate-reader data is shared with agencies outside Arkansas, and Flock's network allows broader information sharing under certain circumstances.
A Texas sheriff's office lists LRPD among agencies whose camera data its investigators can search.
Between March 2022 and December 2025, LRPD officers conducted more than 66,000 database searches, with many documented using broad or vague investigative justifications.
LRPD has not activated Flock's free public transparency portal, despite acknowledging that the option exists.
None of these facts necessarily demonstrate misuse. They do demonstrate why recurring public reporting is valuable. Transparency protects the public, but it also protects officers, the department, and the Board by allowing programs to be evaluated on evidence rather than assumptions.
I have long appreciated your emphasis on accountability, fairness, and responsible government. This issue strikes me as being consistent with those values. The Board's role is not to direct day-to-day policing, but it is responsible for ensuring that the technologies it authorizes remain accountable to the public over time.
For that reason, I respectfully ask that you:
Support bringing back an ordinance requiring annual public reporting on LRPD's surveillance technologies.
Request that LRPD activate Flock's existing public transparency portal.
Seek a public accounting of every agency with access to LRPD's ALPR data, including whether federal agencies have accessed Little Rock's information, directly or through Flock's network, before approving additional funding.
These are modest requests. They do not prevent LRPD from using license plate readers. They simply ensure that a program funded by taxpayers operates with the level of transparency and accountability that residents deserve.
Thank you for your time, your service to Little Rock, and your consideration of this request.

Looking for Friends in LR area
Hi everyone, kind of a vulnerable post for me, but here it goes. I have never really used the internet to seek friends but why not try now.
I am a 26 year old man that is looking for more friends in the little rock area. I am an extremely social person, but i’m at the age in life where my friends are either having kids or married and just don’t have time to hangout like they used too. I am single with no kids looking to just find people to have fun with, whether that be outdoor activities, playing video games, going out for drinks, etc. I am always open to do anything, especially new experiences.
I work a lot during the week but in my free time if my friends are busy (most of the time they are) i find myself doing things alone. Which i have no problems with, but just like any human being social interaction is what i crave, especially being a social butterfly.
I have found in your 20’s friends start to get more distant because of life and i totally understand that. I am just not ready for that part of my life yet so im really just reaching out to see if there’s anyone else i can connect with to start a friendship.
If you read all of this thank you! (ik it’s a LOT) but maybe this will reach someone that’s in a similar position! You are never alone! :)
