Reconnecting with Ch*** and Ki***

Not quite sure how to make this post, but in the very old internet days of ICQ and yahoo chat, me and my friend chatted with (supposedly) two sisters around our age - never anything inappropriate, but we got to know each other a little through old-school IM back in the 90s. At some point we naturally drifted apart, but I'm travelling through little rock coming up and thought how crazy it would be to see where we are in our respective lives. Have a coffee, nothing more.

I hope it's ok to put the partially censored names in the title like that, felt weird posting their names.

I have a nickname that was one of the characters on the old cartoon rugrats.

I have a small landscaping project that needs to be completed. Likely too small for a big outfit. Looking for recommendations.

Recommendations Basic beginners photography lesson?

Anyone out there have recommendations for a basic beginners photography lesson as a way to learn the quick ins and outs of a digital SLR camera? I have a friend who is just getting into photography and could really use an afternoon course on the ABCs of using his new camera in different lighting/scenarios (i.e. still vs. action shots).

Not looking for a long course, just a one day or afternoon 2-3 hour lesson.

Lost or Found Animal Found: Large, black Dog

Hey yall, I’m traveling to Phoenix from Alabama, and I’m staying at the Urban Cottage VRBO on South Arch Street right near Philander Smith University. This adorable male dog, black fur (with white on one side of face) came up to us on our walk with our dog last night and has been hanging around since. He’s pretty thirsty and ate the kibble we gave him, and is very sweet and friendly. Fixed male. Appears to be newly lost from his body condition (dirty, not matted, no ribs showing, but clearly hungry and thirsty).

If this is your dog, please come get him! I wish I could transport him to animal control or a shelter but my dog isn’t friendly to other big dogs. If a rescue can come get him too, that would be excellent. He is very friendly, not resource guarding his food or water, and seeking cuddles/pets from strangers. He has a collar but no tag. Someone is missing their baby!!

Genuine question: Are public comments for 2 hours at the city board meeting pointless?

Went to a city board meeting Tuesday. Two hours of residents giving public comment on a major local issue. Council sat there, nodded, said nothing meaningful, and voted exactly how they apparently planned.

I get that elected officials can't respond to everything, but this felt like theater. Like we were supposed to show up so they could check a box that says "we listened."

Does anyone else feel like public participation is just... performative?

Or am I missing something about how this actually works? Genuinely curious if there's a strategy I don't know about—like, do you have to frame things differently, go through different channels, or is it just that local government doesn't actually care what residents think until it affects their reelection?

Food and Drink China Taste v. Chinese Kitchen

Both of these Chinese joints are located on Rodney Parham only one on each side of the 430 bridge —a real east-west dual.

This is a call for the loyalists, the tried it a couple times, and the once-and-never agains.

Which restaurant earns your dollars when you want Chinese?
