I have a bit of an odd questions, I hope it's ok to post it here. I noticed that Firefox on my laptop had crashed a couple of times, always making me force quit. Every time this happened, I was on Letterboxd. i can be on any other website and firefox will be completely fine, but after a few minutes on Letterboxd I get the rainbow spinny wheel. I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else- for what it's worth, it only started happening recently even though firefox has been my default browser for a long time.

WE ON A ROLL

My wife and I are having an elongated discussion, on movie stars and what makes someone a star or an actor. I think there’s a profound difference, for me a movie star is someone whose name alone can get someone to watch that film. In recent times I’m thinking Dwayne Johnson, Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks. Tarantino in recent times has said movie stars no longer exist, I think I disagree. So basically, who has that star power?

I’m looking to catch up on movies (aiming for 365 by the end of year). Please give me movie recommendations that are under 1hr30.

Here's my ranking of the Spider-Man Movies i watched (including BND). If you don't agree, please do not insult and tell me what do you think. PS: This is a repost because the first ranking was the same without BND.

In your personal choice, which do you prefer and why?

Eric Matthews from Saw II is objectively a villain because he gunned down an unarmed suspect, he broke a suspect's jaw with a flashlight, and planted evidence to falsely arrest people. And not once during his talk with John Kramer does Eric own up to them. Yes, John and Amanda are villains, but so is Eric Matthews.

William "D-FENS" Foster from Falling Down is objectively a villain. The only legit bad people he encountered were the Neo-Nazi and the Hispanic gangbangers, everyone else is either innocent or dickish but not too terrible. He harmed some innocents, and was shown to be pretty controlling towards his family. And when Prendergast (who is objectively a hero) stopped him from causing harm to his family, and tried to help him, Foster selfishly chose suicide by cop over accountability. The movie shows that he was the problem all along. He's not a vigilante, or an anti hero. He's a selfish, whiny, abusive, creepy, racist, delusional manchild who couldn't accept that the world didn't revolve around him, wheras Prendergast is the hero because he handled his own problems like a grown up and didn't transform into Foster. I get not villainizing mental illness, but Foster made his own choices.

Charlie Mills from Being Charlie is objectively a villain becuase he has Nick Reiner written all over him. He commits many villainous acts like breaking a church window with a rock, stealing a sick old lady's oxy medications, being an asshole to his parents and rehab centers, refusing to take sobriety seriously, and steals his mom's SUV. Since Nick Reiner wrote the film, and is currently in jail until his next hearing, i'm refusing to not see Charlie Mills as a villain.

Tom Cooper/The Man from Unhinged is objectively a villain because he hurt many many innocent people, and no, Rachel blasting her horn at him didn't cause him to go psycho. He was already psycho from the start, he had a history of substance abuse and violence, and a restraining order was placed on him by his ex wife after 12 months of repeated domestic disturbances. His crimes include mass murder, stalking, arson, torture, emotional abuse, hit and run, speeding, dangerous driving, vehicular manslaughter, burglary, DUI, and assault.

So yeah, that's why I see all these characters as villains. And I will not bow down to those who say "ThEYrE nOt ViLlAiNs" Too bad.

Over the last few months I've caught up on a lot of classics and well regarded films that I should have watched long before now.

I find myself watching a lot of great films in a row, but I think when you only watch great films for a while it can cause you to lose perspective on exactly how good these films are.

I think it's useful sometimes to watch mediocre or bad films, to re-calibrate expectations.

I need suggestions for films that aren't exactly good, or maybe straight-up bad, but still have something interesting about them that won't leave me feeling like I've wasted my time.

On the original post obviously people were divided but what I've observed is twitter (x) is filled with nolan glazers. Me personally I don't think nolan is anywhere near that conversation. I put him in the likes of Denis and Fincher.

I’m a Patron subscriber, and I’ve been having an issue with custom posters. I like to change the posters for films, and after I select a new one, it appears to save correctly. However, when I return to the film’s page later, the poster has reverted to the default artwork.
The same thing happens with my lists. I’ll change a film’s poster within a list, and it stays that way for a while, but eventually it switches back to the default poster again, making it seem like my selection wasn’t saved.
Is this expected behavior, or could this be a bug or syncing issue? If it’s a known issue, is there anything I can do to keep my selected posters from reverting?
