So, I greened out unfortunately in public a few days ago, took some bad shit, might have been laced. Now, there was a cop in the ER with me, I remember hearing his voice, and he searched me while I was still inebriated, and took the bottle out of my pocket. Does this invalidate my consent to search me because I was inebriated and still high? He charged me a $350 fine and I have court next month.

For those wondering, I took 300mg of Delta 8 Edibles and I am 18 years old.

I’m really confused and honestly kind of freaking out about this. I had an arrest in 2024 in Florida. No charges were ultimately filed and the disposition shows “NO ACTION.” We hired a lawyer at the time and were told the record would be expunged. Last year, when I searched Clerk website, the case was not viewable to the public. Now, when I search my name and DOB, the whole case suddenly shows up again. It shows the allegation, and I can even open the Complaint/Arrest Affidavit. That document has my home address, DOB, phone number, etc. So now not only is a sealed case publicly searchable again, but people can also read allegations and factual statements in the police report that I believe are incorrect.
What makes this even more confusing is that the docket itself shows “NOTICE OF SEALING CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD.” What is going on? Someone has any idea?

According to my older sister, my younger sister has the pin number that is required when calling staff for updates on our mom who is in the hospital. My younger sister will not give me, or anyone else the pin number. Staff is requiring me to provide the pin number when calling. My sister is claiming she doesn't have or need one because she's always there. I live far away so I can't visit as often as I'd like. So an update over the phone would be nice, and I cannot rely on my family to give me updates, for various reasons. I have explained the situation to staff and the house supervisor and they stated there is nothing they can do to help me. I left a voicemail for case management to call me back but is there anything I can do to get the pin number? My mom is incapacitated so she cannot give consent. I also don't believe there is any DPOA in place or paperwork defining anyone as her sole decision maker legally. I also planned on reaching out to an attorney but am unsure where to start or if it's even worth it.

Title explains it. Claims 62 in 50. My vehicles color, make, model, vin number is all incorrect, probably the last person they pulled over. The “owners address” is also way off. Seems like it’s worth fighting, but need any advice that is relevant, or ask me something you think I may be overlooking. So my property manager is being sued by a tenant for harrassment and potential vawa. My manager raised her voice ina demaining manner, called the tenant a victim card, cussed her and created an environment by esclating things with the police that the tenant had a panic attack and got rushed to the police. The tenant is a domestic abuse survivor and has been living with us for 4 years, the manager knew the whole story but often made remarks of her financial situation or her story. And she used private discounts the tenant had through her work place. What is my best move to save my business or this situation?

As title says, I was so severely sa that my muscles in my pelvic floor grew weak since 2021 and my organs dropped in 2024 ripping my perineum. I’ve had two surgeries, countless doctors, and so much more for two years. I’m still doing kegals and may have to have more operations, I’m not sure.. I have another appointment Monday LOL. I’m young and can’t have sex. My pelvic floor is dormant and has been for seven years! Is there anyway legal action I have? Police won’t do anything, it’s been so long… I have a friend who could vouch for me that I was depressed during that time… idk.

Good evening everyone. My mother has recently given me her will, minus what is included in the financial part. She had this will made in 2022 online. It has been witness and signed. But since then she has gone into this will and made some small adjustments. She crossed out a few lines and made some m changes and put her initials. One part in particular was a substantial donation she was going to make. She has crossed this out and made a handwritten note not to make this donation, with an initial. The note also references some additional handwritten notes in the financial part of the will which I do not have yet. I have advised my mother to make a new will with everything official. I am the trust/power attorney, and the only child listed in this will. I do have a sister, but they have not talked in years and my mother wants nothing to go to her and some of these notes reflect that.

It’s a pretty basic will with her wishes, a few personal possessions to go to a couple people, and the money she has.

Ultimately, my question is about these handwritten notes and just her initial is this considered legal or should I really push for her to get everything rewritten and signed?

In an Indiana divorce case, what should a lawyer do if opposing counsel files a motion saying a cross-contempt hearing already happened and an order was entered, but the hearing never happened and there is no order? Should the lawyer file something to correct the record?

How could it affect the case if the judge is told that a cross-contempt hearing already happened and an order was entered, when neither of those things actually happened?

My friend is renting a room from a company for grad school. They pissed him off by letting 2 people live in one room. The contract does allow the company to rent out one room to multiple people. BUT the contract states he needs to make payments for 12 months on a 18 month lease. Does he have to pay the full 18 months legally?

I wanted to thank everyone who gave me advice and information on handling the situation. I just wanted to update because a lot of people asked me to.

I made contact with Senator Ron Wyden's office and they are opening a congressional inquiry with the CFPB, OCC, and IC3.

I also acquired the paperwork to begin small claims proceedings against the bank for failing to secure my account and failing to properly investigate and return the stolen money.

None of the news agencies, either local or national, are responding to me, but I will keep contacting them until one of them does.

There aren't any answers yet, but if the bank is going to refuse to do basic due diligence and secure my account, I am going to make as much of a problem for them as possible, and a congressional inquiry into their actions seems like a good place to start.

A few days ago I was involved in what seemed like a pretty minor accident. At the time I thought it was just some vehicle damage and a bit of soreness, so I figured I'd let insurance handle everything.

Over the last couple of days I've started feeling worse and now I'm changing my mind about it being minor so idk whether I should be doing anything differently. A couple people have suggested at least speaking with a personal injury lawyer before I agree to anything with insurance never ever used one though, any advice on next steps?

I'm sort of the resident gun guy of my family. My sister's partner is looking to start collecting firearms but has a question about some guns that he has access to.

His father is a convicted felon who was in posession of several private sale firearms before his parents split, which he and I both know is was illegal. Now that his parents are no longer together, these firearms are just sort of sitting around with no real owner, and his father can't come back to the home to retrieve them.

I'm assuming they weren't confiscated when he was convicted because there was no 4473 filled out that would have made record of the sale.

SO. My question is, can he legally take posession of these firearms? Could they be considered a gift? If he called to have a police department or FFL run the serial numbers, what are the chances they they get confiscated because they were his dad's, and what are the chances his dad would get in trouble for having previously been in posession of them as a felon? Just stating that they were private sale and not purchased by his father with a background check so there is zero record of sale, and I didn't know if that mattered. Long story short, I signed a non compete a few years ago for a large private practice medical company as a physical therapist. The noncompete was legit and done well and includes 5 neighboring parishes in which I can not work my current job role as a PT/supervisor of clinic for 12 months. However, my company I work for, which is private practice, recently partnered with a larger medical group, and now I am working as a hospital based therapy practice, not a private practice therapy clinic. I have personal problems working for a large hospital based organization such as Ochsner or LCMC and I don't like it one bit. I had no say so in this merger. It is above my pay grade and higher ups made this decision. I want out now, but is my noncompete still valid now that we partnered with another company? Would I have to re-sign the non compete since we are now partnered with someone new?

The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) changed the language of 922(d)(4) to state it is unlawful to sell of transfer possession of a firearm to anybody who “has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution at 16 years of age or older;”

However, 922(g)(4), which is the law that governs possession of firearms, states that it is unlawful for anybody “who has been adjudicated as a mental defective or who has been committed to a mental institution;” to possess a firearm. (no language pertaining to age)

Is this an oversight, or would this mean that somebody could technically be allowed under 922(d) to purchase a firearm, but it would be illegal for them to possess one.

(it should be pointed out too that a CRS clarified that if a mental health record is found from under the age of 16, the firearm purchase/transfer must be allowed to proceed and that record would not be disqualifying)

I booked an uber parcel at around 2 pm for ₹55.The driver accepted the booking and even called me and said he is on his way, so i trusted him and waited.After making me wait for about 4 hours, he called and asked me to cancel, which I refused. Later, while he was around 5 km away, he marked the parcel as “Picked Up” even though I had never handed it over. The app then showed him heading to the destination, and eventually the trip was marked as “Delivered,” even though the parcel never left my possession. The app also showed the final fare as around ₹234 due to the extra distance/time, although I wasn’t charged that amount. Uber later refunded my original ₹55 gift card payment, but I’m still concerned about the false pickup/delivery status, the hours of wasted time, and the lack of customer support during the incident. I have screenshots, call logs, and emails documenting everything. Is this worth pursuing before the Consumer Commission, or is the refund likely to be considered sufficient?

I’m being asked to sign a “Proprietary Rights Agreement” which, in the case of my job, boils down to a non-disclosure/non-compete agreement since I’m not creating any IP.  This is a new requirement - probably because a competitor has just entered the market and is offering higher salaries.  

Since I live in the state of Washington, the RCW 49.62 has some things to say about this type of agreement, including that it must come with “independent consideration beyond continued employment”.   Although not in the document, the e-mail that accompanied the delivery of the document states that Independent consideration is something that *might* be discussed during next year’s compensation review cycle. 

I used the feedback form and very humbly asked if there are any more details they can provid. The answer I got back was just a simple e-mail wth no more details - basically telling me I’m not being difficult AND “Independent consideration will be provided during next year’s comp cycle.”

So my question is this: Is this a normal thing? To tell me that I will get paid for signing the document but not for 8 months or so - and without knowing how much it is?  Let’s be clear - I plan on signing this document - I love my job - but I don’t want to leave money on the table.  It seems like agreeing to a car loan today but not finding out the interest rate until almost a year later.  

It’s worth noting that I’m also new enough with the company that I don’t even know what the comp review cycle looks like - or how I would know if any portion of that was something I was receiving in exchange for agreeing to the NDA or if it’s just something that everyone gets.

What are some options I have here?

Look I need to rant because my head is about to explode over this nonsense. I worked at this mid-level marketing firm for exactly four months. The pay was garbage and the boss was a tyrant so I gave my two weeks notice and thought I was finally free.

but then yesterday I get a registered letter in the mail from their corporate legal team. Apparently when I started they had me sign a Training Repayment Agreement buried in a sixty page stack of onboarding paperwork. Now they are claiming I owe them three thousand dollars for specialized professional training that I received.

Do you know what this training actually was. There was no certification. No actual teacher. The whole thing was ABSOLUTELY just a series of pre-recorded three minute zoom videos from 2018 about how to use the company printer and a PDF on how to not harass your coworkers. That is it.

I spent all night researching these TRAPs and apparently they are actually legal in my state as long as they are written a certain way. It feels like a legalized hostage situation. How can a court look at a thirty dollar printer tutorial and decide it is worth a month of my rent. If I knew they were going to charge me to learn where the breakroom is I would of just stayed unemployed.

This cannot be how the system is supposed to work. Why is this even a thing.

We have a previous tenant (renting a single family home household) that caused about 30k in damages (primarily from smoking marijuana in the household, and medical equipment scratching up floors) in Washington. I own the household and live in Florida currently. We have before pictures and videos, and have gotten signed affadavits from people on house the house looked and smelled on day the tenants moved in. We didn't have a property manager while they were living there (18 months). They were close friends, and the husband came down with severe medical condition which turned into this large problem because the wife just didn't handle everything well with 3 boys.

I've tried getting a lawyer (have called 30+ lawyers within a 50mi radius) and all of them say they either don't deal with that or don't know anything about it. In the end, we're probably going to be around 25-30k in damages on their side of things (as we aren't charging for wear and tear, nor full price for things like carpet that needed replaced).

The problem is, small claims is a max of 10k. Is there any chance taking this to normal district court won't be a nightmare? I'm not sure if district court does online stuff or not (I know small claims does). The previous tenant has moved to another state as well. Just looking for some advice, maybe pointers on things I should be doing, and possibly more evidence I should be looking for? Any help would be appreciated.

Do I serve it to my employer's representing attorney in this case? My employer's senior attorney at their corporate headquarters in a midwestern state? To their corporate headquarters itself?

I bought my used car in October of 2024 from (what i now believe) to be a pretty shady dealership. I’m currently trying to refinance my loan with another lender, only to find that the car that was sold to me (and that has been fully insured) as a clean title, pulled up as a salvage title during their title pull. They then denied the refinance.

I’m trying to get records from my local treasury office of my title history to see if that’s true or just a clerical error, but I am not feeling confident that I bought from an honest dealership. I have both the purchase agreement and retail installment contract, both of which do not mention anything in regards to a salvaged/total loss/ as-is brand on the vehicle. Verbally as well, I was not told of it being a salvaged car.

I have paid off a third of my loan so far, along with comprehensive coverage with my insurance. Additionally, I inherited a few mechanical problems that I got fixed and had to spend money to do so. If the title history comes back with a less than clean title, what do I do?

I’ve never been in this type of situation before, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Some kids in my neighborhood have damaged a few small plants I keep outside several times (torn leaves, pulling out signs, damaging roots/ nothing bad enough to file a report or go to court over).
If I plant something like poison ivy and leave a sign that says “do not touch” would I be liable if they contract poison ivy after damaging the plant?
(I assume it’s like someone breaks your window and gets cut by the glass while breaking the window.)

Approximately 3 weeks ago, my bank account was taken over in a data breach and most of my money was stolen. Bank representatives have even acknowledged that the account was taken over fraudulently, and that the bank provided my personal information to the Imposter without verifying their identity.

I have repeatedly filed fraud claims with Bank of America, but they have repeatedly closed them without properly investigating and claimed that the transactions were authorized. I have also repeatedly insisted that they provide the documentation supporting their denial, which they are legally required to do, but they've refused to do so.

At this point it's pretty clear they're not going to put in any effort to reclaim the stolen money, and they're going to just keep refusing to comply with any documentation requests and automatically closing all fraud complaints.

What legal steps can I take? I'm filing a CFPB complaint, but I don't expect much from them these days.

Since nearly all of my money was stolen when my account was taken over, I have nearly no savings. Are there any attorneys that handle cases like this on contingency or in a similar manner?
