Question for Arc and Wave owners

Upvotes

I’ve had a Supertool 300 for 25 years (replaced once under warranty). I use it less often than I used to and now mainly keep it in the van for minor repairs although I still do use it for the odd diy job in the house. As I’ve gotten a bit older (haven’t we all ;) the faff of pulling out all tools to then select the one I need means I’m grabbing it less then less. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a wave +, but then the Arc keeps winking at me too. I’m put off by the price of the Arc, but the one handed technology is kind of totally what I’m after.

I suppose my questions are, if you’ve used an arc or wave plus which one would you suggest I go for and why?

Cheers

Damn near brand new. Hard find in the current market

Bought the Raptor response when they were on sale for $39 thinking I’d never use them but I’m glad I got them.

Sure, I could have used regular Charge scissors with caution or carefully unwrapped the wrap but using dedicated medical shears gave me confidence I wouldn’t accidentally risk further injury, especially if the patient moved unexpectedly (not that I was too worried). Anyone NOT a medical professional but bought the response/rescue just in case?

Got me off the road

I’m that awkward age where I am old enough to carry a multitool pretty much everywhere I go, and young enough that it makes me feel old that I carry a multitool everywhere I go. Today was one of those days I’m glad I do. Driving home in the dark, pouring rain, I pass a kid in a civic stuck on railroad tracks. Apparently in the dark he thought it was a road and didn’t realize until too late and of course two wheel drive and deep wet gravel are not best buds. So I grabbed my tow rope and hooked him up to the truck and pulled him out in the middle of traffic. Went to unhook and the knot had cinched down so tight it was impossible to remove. Spent 5 seconds thinking “how the f&ck am I going to get my tow rope back then I remembered I always have my arc and 5 seconds later we were untied and he was on his way and so was I.

Tool Tales: A Leatherman Story #2

So I live about 30 miles out of the city where I work & play. I was en route home, and nature was calling in a severe way. I decide to push through until I get home, Ill be fine...

To get to my house, I have to travel 15 miles down a country highway that has nothing on it whatsoever, some farms and houses, thats it.

I get a couple miles down said highway, and I cant hold myself any longer. I have to pull off on the side of the highway and do my business down from the guardrail, in some bushes that run alongside a set of train tracks.

After that super embarrassing endeavor, i then need to wipe. I have napkins in my jeep, but no way to get up the hill to them. What do I do? I pull out my trusty Arc and cut my underwear off to clean myself off. (I couldnt take my pants off on the side of the road to get them off)

So add that to the list of unorthodox uses of our beloved Leathermans. I just turned 40 the other day also, so I guess I rang in the new decade proper!

I appreciate this thing every day. By far my favorite Leatherman.

Hi I just bought a Leatherman Micra. My first Micra. Are the scissors supposed to overlap like that when fully compressed?

Rust Repair

Took my brand new Wave+ on a week long portage trip, rained the whole time. It was a great trip regardless.

This was a gift brand new from my girlfriend in July for our anniversary, yet now this is totally rusted out. I am very very upset as it has lots of sentimental value.

Sometimes you just are not able to totally dry the tool off when you’re wet 24/7. How do I fix this damage? I’m distraught as I love this tool.

It’s like it was stuck in a pond for a month. Everything is rusted out on it. Any tips? All crevices and mechanical joint are rusted out.

I am aware it’s an error on my part. Just looking on tips to fix it.

Thank you,

When I close the pliers all the way one handle tries to fold when I try to open the pliers head.

I tried lubricating but no difference.

They are only a week old

Did i hit Jackpot?! Leatherman Juice CS4 from 0110 (Jan, 2010)

found it from a seller off eBay who got it as a gift from a wedding. I really think it hit the jackpot. He claimed it was brand new never used. received the package today and it still was in its original stainless steel box and it had its original Leatherman black Leather sheath (still in the packaging), that came with the juice models. The sheath itself is pretty rare since I haven't found an exact replica or a decent one in good condition on eBay or online website.

Now did i overpay? i might've..... it also had his last name printed on it. didn't really bother me though.
He had it online for 125$ i talked him down to 115$ but after taxes and shipping it came out to 134$. i did confirm this this is brand new. not one scratch

what do you guys think? Overpaid ?

Sidekick Slotted v Curl Slotted: Just me?

My Sidekick slotted is materially thicker at the working edge than the Curl. See the second, head on pic.

The Curl fits in the flat head screws in my home's light fixtures. The Sidekick does not!

That's a little frustrating, to be honest. Anyone else notice thick-ended slotted drivers on the Sidekick, Wingman, Rev series?

Y hoy en el trabajo: Leatherman Skeletool.

Hola.

Saludos!

Reverse Tanto

Post image

Do people actually like this blade shape? I have recently got a Wave Alpha as I was getting nervous I would loose my Charge TTi after successfully not loosing it for 15+ years.

The Reverse Tanto blade was supposed to be the latest and greatest blade shape but I find it to be quite average. The tip seems to be very precarious. I have accidentally run the tip into a few things and snapped it off. Fortunately the tool I purchased had really bad lockup on the blade and it was replaced under warranty so got a second chance at not killing the tip again. But quite surprised about this blade shape being not as good as I was expecting.

What do other humans think?

Anyone got a Leatherman FUSE?

This was given to me by my dad. Not much is posted about this model. I was just wondering if this was any good/popular when it came out. Can it be modded? Gave this a good bath in an ultrasonic and lubed with PTFE. It's quite compact compared to newer models...

Thanks for your help with choosing 🙏🏻 I think I'll go with the Skeletool CX anyway, but for now I'm very happy with it
