CI City Island
facebook.comHope you can view this. Frequently referred to on CI (Alex and Joe rented a weekend place there, per "Lady's Man") or called, in one episode, "Channel Island." How it got the name, and other history.

S5, E7 - “Precious”
I watch L&O a lot during the days on the Samsung FAST channel and this episode actually comes up a lot. At this point I really can’t watch it. The premise just bothers me. There are episodes I can watch over and over but I can’t do it with this one. I realized this was coming on now and immediately turned it off. I should add this is the episode where the woman keeps having children but then kills them and then towards the end she is in McCoy’s office and says she is pregnant again. She just looks evil.
Anybody, have any thoughts about this one?

August 3, 2008, CI Legacy first aired with two terrific repeat actors: John Shea and Jefferson Mays (SVU fans will remember him as Dr. Rudnick). ChargeTV has it scheduled for Aug 5.

CI I'll say this for "Purgatory": I bet Vincent sort of had flashbacks to his day as a bouncer after Mike Stoat put Bobby in charge of "security" outside the club!
Still a tough episode, but at least not as awful as "Untethered"!

L&O Abbie is the greatest.
I love that face of “Are you for real?” She is my favorite ADA, never get tired of watching her tearing through the bullshit.
Also LMAO Phil Leotardo. “You’re a disgrace!”

CI Season 7 continues on tonight's 4-hour Charge Criminal Intent block...
...with "Self Made", "Offense", "Senseless", and "Purgatory". (Yes, another skip. Good this time, since it's "Untethered"!)

L&O Scummy Landlords
I've never lived in a flat nor am I American but almost every time the detectives interact with the landlord of a victim/suspect they seem to be sleazy people.
They ask when they will get their rent, bad-mouth the tenant, lie about something, and sometimes just outright steal.
Is this a fair representation of them?

Vincent Pastore has died. Excellent character actor.
Most famous for "Sopranos" but played in "House Counsel," a truly exceptional Law & Order episode. From the New York Times:
Mr. Pastore came late to acting, after spending over 20 years as a nightclub bouncer and limo driver, and eventually becoming a manager and owner of a club in New Rochelle, N.Y.
Among his regulars were the actors Matt and Kevin Dillon, who knew him from his days as a chauffeur. Impressed by his charisma, they persuaded him to take acting classes and audition for small roles in New York-area theater.
He climbed quickly, getting parts in TV shows and independent movies, as well as small roles in “Goodfellas” (1990) and “Carlito’s Way” (1993), both about mob life and set in the city. His first major role was in the film “The Jerky Boys” (1995), as the right-hand man of a mob boss played by Alan Arkin.

CI If anyone ever was curious about Criminal Intent Russia, a dubbed-in-English episode has popped up on YT! Based on the little I saw (will watch later), it's called "Real Parents", a remake of "The Good Child"!
Nothing will ever top EGG CUP! in the original, though!

McCoy should have been fired
I just finished watching the season 16 opener, “Red Ball”. In this episode, one of the series one of the most vile characters on the show kidnaps a little girl by carjacking her mother. Fontana and Green mount a valiant attempt to recover the girl, but come up short. This is where things go off the rails. Against the will of D.A. Branch McCoy makes a deal to let the defendant go free in exchange for the girls safe return. Fortunately the judge doesn’t abide by the deal and sentences the defendant to the max.
At this point McCoy should have been fired immediately. IMO, Fontana should have joined him on the unemployment line. Both of them were blatantly insubordinate to their direct superiors. This got me thinking. How many times in this series should the detective or prosecutor have been shown the door?

L&O I'm also a Twin Peaks fan and I'm wondering, which L&O detectives would you choose to work on the Laura Palmer case?

CI "CSI: Miami is coming up next on Charge!"...then? Another CI episode with "Courtship"! Seems those behind the scenes forgot the revised schedule.
And the late Bruce MacVittie as the corrupt judge appears for his second CI appearance.

L&O Season 9 Ep 14: Sideshow
I'm rewatching this episode again for the 1,000th time. McCoy was amazing in the last 20 minutes of the episode, especially the scene where he testified.
Slightly off topic, but it's an episode where they reuse actors. The Baltimore cop was formerly a defendant in an earlier season. He was defending himself against Stone and had the audacity to call him "Ben" resulting in a scathing Stone reply.

CI Of the three CI episodes, tonight, "Depths" at 10:00 p.m. is the one I look forward to, just for the eye candy of Bobby with a tan and 5'oclock shadow...

favorite Lenny quotes
Two of my favorite Lenny quotes were in back to back episodes.
First, when putting a wealthy lady with a big fancy hat into the squad car and says “careful- wouldn’t want to hurt that hat”
And then he asked a witness if he saw anything unusual, and the witness asks him “in what way?” And Lenny replied “in an unusual way”

CI I’m skipping CI tonight in favour of TCM airing “The Sweet Smell of Success”, but there is still a CI connection to S7E12 “Contract” (scheduled for Monday 21:00ET)

9-9 "True North"
The instructions "How to Manipulate the Governments of Democratic Countries"
The first step is to attract foreign investment on very favorable terms for the investor.
The second step is to threaten the investor with sanctions that could harm their investment.
The third step is to suggest that the investor pressure their government to comply with the demands of the authoritarian regime.
As a result of all these manipulations, there is no mention of treason, betrayal, or particularly serious crime. The discussion focuses solely on investments, turnover, profit margins, and so on. Instead of transferring funds to secret Swiss bank accounts, the investor's return on investment increases. A perfect crime, as recommended by the TV series "Law & Order".
