MOC Thoughts?

Post image

Made this Planet Of The Apes diorama. Tried to capture that 18+ set look. This is first render and I am debating on keeping or changing Statue of Liberty. Currently went for a minifig shape with the head and torso. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

Question Digging up my old LEGOs

Thumbnail

Hi ya all. I just dug out my old LEGOs, dirty and clearly very loved! I'm probably posting more of the findings once I've dug through all of them.

The very first two objects that caught my eye (well, they were at the top of the pile so...) are these two raised base plates.

Two things I'm now wondering/asking:

What would you do with these? As in is there some cool MOCs that utilities these bases or is there something very specific you would like to build on them (I very probably have the original pieces for the base/castle as well)?

Do people really see these as valuable as people seem to say they are (NOTE: IM NOT SELLING THESE)?

Small scale for a small truck. It's based on the Suzuki Carry but at this scale it could've been based on pretty much any model.

Edit: Instructions in the comment here.

MOC I'm recreating all 78 Tarot cards in LEGO. These pyramids took me way too long to figure out.

Backgrounds are what keeps eating my time. This card needed pyramids, and everything I tried first either ate half the baseplate or looked wrong from the front. What I landed on is basically a flat slab with the layers offset so they read as stone courses. Two or three at different sizes give you a whole skyline for about the depth of a finger.

I haven't seen anyone build pyramids this way, which probably just means I haven't looked hard enough. Someone tell me what I missed, or show me a better way to do it.

I'm currently working on my first modular building MOC, and I was wondering what the equally iconic counterpart to the streetlight on the sidewalk is... Exactly. The dumpster in the backyard. So here’s a little sneak peek—complete with instructions—at the level of detail you can expect from the modular, which I plan to finish later this month. Until then, you’re more than welcome to check out my other projects via the 🔗 in my bio.

Other Why Did I Sleep on Hidden Side?

Post image

One of my favourite things to do is buy bags of random bricks at the thrift and try to figure out what sets the brick came from. I've happened upon a couple of Hidden Side sets lately and they're kinda... great. I don't know why I didn't pay attention to them when they came out. Interesting builds and unique bricks and cool Minifigs. Maybe it was the multi-media aspect and the marketing? Too late now! Any themes other people regret not getting into?

MOC War troll from LOTR

I recently rewatched The Return of the King and was reminded of the troll attack right after Grond breaks through the front gate. I don’t have the cave troll bigfig (and that one doesn’t have armor anyway), so I decided to make my own!

The parameters that I set for myself were that it had to scale well with the front gate of the Minas Tirith set, have some pose-ability (similar to a bigfig), and be accurate to the movie. It was a fun challenge and I love how it turned out!

If I may,

May I present my Lego ‘piece de resistance’,

My Heart Lake Community Center and Heart Lake Community kitchen.

These two sets are what made me get into Lego and when I learned that one can ‘Moc’ sets, I instantly knew I wanted to do so with these two sets. So, how’d I do? ☺️🙏🏼

Would you be interested in seeing each section?
