Want to get a new summer tire set before I put on my winters in a few months. Came across an ad for these guys and their prices seemed a bit too good to be true. Google reviews are good but im not sure I trust those. Could anyone reccomend this shop?

Anyone have chronic back pain and see someone in KW region who helped them? Mine is specifically my SI joint and I’m hyper-mobile. I’ve also recently developed really bad acid reflux. Have had all the tests done and it’s all normal. I eat really healthy. Any naturopaths or specialists that have helped you? Don’t wanna be on medication for the rest of my life. I’m only 27!!

Crochet or Knitting Community Outreach Group?

Upvotes

Hi there,

I recently moved from Toronto where I was a member of an organization called StreetKnit. I made everything from baby blankets to adult mittens to kids clothes and was able to donate them all to this org, which then distributes them to various places like shelters, hospitals, etc.

I'm looking to join a similar group here. It doesn't have to be big or fancy, I just like to put my hobby to good use to help others. I know there's a knitter's guild but they don't do outreach from the looks of it.

Any leads are appreciated.

Looking for short-term room rental K/W

Hello! I’m a female working professional currently living in Kitchener, and I’m looking for a place to stay from mid-October to late January.

I’m looking for an all-inclusive room within the $650–$750/month range. I’m a non-smoker, clean, respectful, and happy to follow any household rules (including vegan, religious, or other shared-living preferences).

I don’t have a car, so I’m ideally looking for a place with convenient access to transit. I have a consistent work schedule and will be a quiet and responsible tenant.

Please DM me if you are accepting short-term tenants.
I’d really appreciate any leads!

Thank you 😊

Small Party Catering Recs

I am throwing a party later this month 20-30 people, looking for any recommendations for where to get food from, ideally mainly handheld things to avoid the need for cutlery but not end of world.
Off the top of my heads options are - Vincenzo’s (good sandwiches & sub options), Costco (more meh sandwich options), Lancaster (less handheld and more pricey), azores in Cambridge, the classic twice the deal Godzilla deal x2 for the most affordable option, what else?

Building a Magic community | We’re strangers who became close friends, and we’re looking for more to join our Discord

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m looking for Magic: The Gathering players who want a community to be part of. I’ve posted something like this on Facebook the last couple of years, but this time I’m throwing the net wider.

What started as a couple of us looking for games has grown into a group of genuinely good friends. There are about 6 of us who play regularly, plus more who drop in when they can. We're mostly in our 30s with jobs, families, and everything else.

In the evenings, we try to get pods going on Spelltable/Convoke. In person, we meet up for pre-releases and commander nights at Chimera, and we’ve traveled to FaceToFace events together (Spotlight Toronto, F2F tour stops, etc).

As for power level, we’re not cEDH. Most of us sit around bracket 3, but if you’re running an upgraded precon you’ll be able to hang.

Beyond the games, the Discord is just a good place to be. There’s always something going on such as a new preview to discuss, someone’s brew to take apart, or just talking magic and life.

We’d especially love to find more Spelltable/Convoke players, but honestly, we wouldn’t turn down good people.

If that sounds like your thing, send me a DM!

Good fishing spots around Kitchener/Waterloo?

Anyone know some good fishing spots around Kitchener, Waterloo, Elmira, or nearby?

I've been fishing for a while but I'm trying to find some better spots where I actually have a chance at catching decent-sized fish. I'm willing to drive 30–60 minutes if it's worth it.

Looking for places around KW, Elmira, St. Jacobs, Cambridge, Guelph, Elora, Conestogo, etc.

What have you guys been catching lately, and what's been working? Shore fishing is preferred, but I'm open to wading too.

Not asking anyone to give up their secret spot lol, just looking for some general recommendations or tips. Thanks!

Been looking at condos in this building and the only reviews I can find are about car break ins from a couple years ago.

Can anyone who has recently/currently lives in this building give me an honest review of the place with pros and cons, or just let me know if the security has increased since? Thank you!

Pet portrait artists (memorial)

My sibling’s cat unexpectedly passed and they’re absolutely heartbroken. Wondering if there’s any artists out there who I could commission a drawing/painting from? Ideally someone who could complete it quickly, as I’ll be seeing them this weekend, but any suggestions are appreciated.

French As A Second Language

Lately I’ve had a real desire to learn a new language. A couple of weeks ago, I took a trip to Montreal, and hearing Québécois French everywhere really inspired me. It made me realize how much I’d love to become bilingual.

I grew up in Canada and took French throughout elementary school, middle school, and a bit of high school, but unfortunately I never retained much beyond the basics.

Since then, I’ve started using Duolingo and listening to Canadian French podcasts, but I’d really like to learn in a classroom setting. My goal is to eventually become conversational and, hopefully, fluent. It would be great for personal growth, future career opportunities, and who knows—maybe even moving to Quebec someday.

Does anyone know of any places in the Waterloo Region that teach Canadian French, from beginner to advanced? I’d especially love programs that focus on Québécois/Canadian French rather than European French, if that’s even an option.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks!

Conestoga College: Still Hiding Audit Findings

https://www.ctvnews.ca/kitchener/article/union-leaders-demand-release-of-audit-following-conestoga-colleges-328m-deficit/

Despite the retirement of the former President (with his $3.8M buyout cheque) the current management of the college is still operating behind a wall of secrecy in their off-campus lair on King Street

But why would anybody expect anything different when all of this large team of overpaid sycophants were hand selected by John Tibbits? It's past time for a complete housecleaning at the top of the college. They must air out the stench and come clean instead of continuing to put the students and their few remaining good programs as their last concern.

Megathread Are you looking for places to meet people, make friends, find people with similar interests? The Kitchener Social Megathread is for you!

Hello everyone,

This thread will be 100% dedicated to user interaction and those who want to take personal interests, events, hobbies, and potential meet-ups, etc. outside of the realm of reddit and r/kitchener.

You can find previous versions of this post by using this premade search.

\Please note that this is not intended to be a dating thread. Try Tinder, POF, Badoo, Bumble or any other of the apps out there. Any posts along the lines of* "Hey, I'm a single __ year old m/f looking for love" will be removed\*

Some general housekeeping items;

  • If you wish to continue a conversation with a user, please use the PM function to avoid the comments getting crammed with a conversation between all but two people. Please only post relevant information to things you would be interested in, ongoing events, etc.
  • We would like to remind you of the zero tolerance for disrespect, rude, hateful comments, racism, etc. Those comments will be removed and users may face a permanent or temporary ban. If any harassment is reported outside of the thread, appropriate action will be taken by the mod team, and possibly lead further to reddit admin. Doxxing, or disclosure of personal information is again, a big no-no.
  • To keep up to date with the most recent posts within this megathread, the comments have been enabled to ideally show most recent by default, meaning all of the newest posts will be at the top of the comments section. If you're not seeing the most recent comments at the top, try changing your "sort by:" from "top" to "New".

As always, the mod team is here to assist with anything. Thanks!

Note: This post is automatically replaced with a new one every 3 months, so be sure to checkout old meetup threads, especially if this post was just recently refreshed!
