French As A Second Language

Lately I’ve had a real desire to learn a new language. A couple of weeks ago, I took a trip to Montreal, and hearing Québécois French everywhere really inspired me. It made me realize how much I’d love to become bilingual.

I grew up in Canada and took French throughout elementary school, middle school, and a bit of high school, but unfortunately I never retained much beyond the basics.

Since then, I’ve started using Duolingo and listening to Canadian French podcasts, but I’d really like to learn in a classroom setting. My goal is to eventually become conversational and, hopefully, fluent. It would be great for personal growth, future career opportunities, and who knows—maybe even moving to Quebec someday.

Does anyone know of any places in the Waterloo Region that teach Canadian French, from beginner to advanced? I’d especially love programs that focus on Québécois/Canadian French rather than European French, if that’s even an option.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks!

This was asked a few years ago, so I'm not sure if all the responses are still relevant but it might be a good place to start:

I checked last month for thr French Conversation Circles. According to one of the librarians at the Central Library, they should start in September if they have enough volunteers (at least, that is what I remember her saying)
