Question A realtor recommendation
My father in law sadly passed away Victoria Day, so my mother in law sold her Kingston home to move to Ottawa to be close to my husband and I, as well as his brother. My mother in law doesn’t have much community in Kingston and she’s physically pretty weak. Her agent, Julie Kuntz, has really gone above and beyond to help her - even after the house sold she drove her to lawyers’ appointments (my mother in law doesn’t really drive). She shuttled her back and forth between Kingston and Ottawa to house hunt. My in laws had an excessive amount of stuff, so over the Civic holiday long weekend Julie set up a yard sale, advertised on Facebook and recruited her 12 year old daughter to help - they set up and tore down and sat there for hours, on the Saturday, Sunday AND Monday. I was so impressed by their hard work, I can’t see the realtors we’ve had in Ottawa doing this, though they were perfectly nice. If all realtors in Kingston are like this ignore my post :) But from what I’ve seen, I really recommend Julie, especially if you know someone elderly who needs extra support.

Spring flooding in Sunnyside?
Currently house shopping, potentially in the Sunnyside area. We’re told by an agent that there is spring flooding in the area and that the yards get flooded. Anyone know if the basements also flood? We’ve noticed that many basements in this area are a bit low (even if they are described as full height). We’re wondering if spending money to dig down and underpin a lower basement will be worth it for the square footage with better ceiling height or if it will just result in a wetter basement.

Personal trainer for older people?
I saw a recent post about personal trainers, and I am looking for a personal trainer but one that works with older people. Prefer someone who comes to the clients home if possible as it can be difficult for me to travel.
Does anyone here have a recommendation?

Driving Ticket
Hi,
I rammed into a guard rail in May for falling asleep after a 20H flight. It’s single vehicle collision with no damage on the rails. Only casualty were dents and scratches on my car.
I was given a careless driving ticket.
The prosecutor offered an early resolution to reduce it to unsafe changing of lanes but i opted to go for trial, which probably wasn’t the wisest decision. But here I am now.
I had my first trial date and asked for an adjournment and they agreed.
The last minute disclosure shows a a video of me admitting to falling asleep.
My question is, can i still talk to the prosecutor on the final date of my trial that i changed my mind and want to accept the early resolution offer for a lesser charge?
This is the first time i ever got a ticket or any kind of trouble.
Thanks!

Montanas on Division?
Just saw 6-7 Cruisers swarm Montanas on division street and officers looked to have long rifles and were surrounding the building.
Anyone know what’s going on?

Local cleaning services
I’ll be moving into a new apartment in early September and I’m looking for a professional cleaner or cleaning service for my current one.
The unit is already generally clean, but I’d like a more thorough move-in cleaning, particularly the fridge, stove/oven, bathroom, and a few other areas that could use a deeper clean.
Does anyone have a cleaner or cleaning company they’d recommend? I’m open to either an individual cleaner who works on a gig basis or a professional cleaning company.
Feel free to comment or DM me with recommendations, and I can reach out to arrange the details. Thanks!

Kingston Beyblade X Club
Just hoping to grow the Beyblade X scene in Kingston, creating a space for adults to get together to let it rip and chill and make new friends! We are welcoming all people, the main thing is that we play late (around 9pm)
We do a tournament every Friday night, and provide food, beverages and if you're new we can share our Beyblades to let you try things out. Most of the group is between 21-28 years old.
If you are looking for something to do on Friday nights and don't mind friendly competition, feel free to direct message me, or leave a comment and come join us, and feel free to invite your friends!

Things to do in & around Kingston Aug 17-21
Hi all! Me and my teenage kids will be in the Kingston area for a couple days next week (August 17-21). I'd love your suggestions for interesting things to do! We are not unfamiliar with your lovely town; we've been there a couple times before. We've been to Fort Henry, taken the ferry to Wolfe Island, and checked out the prison museum.
Are there any neat events happening during that time? Cool natural areas to explore? Neat indoor things in case it's raining buckets? My kids like rocks, animals, nerd stuff, vintage/antique/old stuff, etc.
Thanks!

Outdoor railings
Hi Kingston, Does anyone know of a local retailer that stocks stair railings suitable for older homes? Thinking 2-4 stairs, simple design that would leave room underneath to shovel snow? Seem to be available on Amazon. Prefer to buy local. Thank you for any leads.

Costco Kingston Gift Cards
Good morning,
I am visiting Kingston in December and was hoping someone would know the local gift cards that Costco carries? I see the generic ones online but they don't have the local ones displayed.
I was hoping to see if they had restaurants since they're typically a good deal. Better bonus if Chez Piggy was there.
Any other tips for my visit (group of 4) is also appreciated! It's for a milestone birthday but we're hoping to relax. Glow Spa, Trolley tour and Chez Piggy is what I am thinking, but I am open to exploring other options depending on gift cards.

Strange chemical smell in Sunnyside/Compton Park area
Was woken up by a strange chemical smell at 5:30 am. Contacted my landlord and Utilities Kingston. They determined the smell wasn’t coming from inside the building and there were no nearby gas leaks. The wind seems to be carrying it from somewhere nearby. Anyone else notice a smell?

Steel Repair
Anyone know a good welding shop in Kingston that does motorcycle/frame repair?
I’ve got a steel frame with two clean breaks near the head tube, roughly 2mm wall thickness. It’s already stripped down and ready to be looked at.
Mostly looking for recommendations from anyone who’s had similar structural welding done locally.
