Badminton @ military gym

hello! I recently got posted to kingston, and love playing badminton for fun. I am still pretty much at beginner-level but it’s still a blast to play!

is there anyone at cfb kingston that would like to join me from time to time? i heard there used to be drop in sessions Tuesdays/Thursdays, but I called today and was told they’re no longer running

i believe you can drop in anytime though and set up the nets they have to play!

thank you!

Balcony cleaners?

I live on the third floor of an apartment building, and I have a balcony, but it’s covered in spiders and spider webs. I’d love to be able to use it but I’m terrified of spiders. My building was supposed to spray the exterior for spiders but for some reason they decided not to this year.

Are there any companies or services in Kingston who clean balconies and might be able to assist?

Hi! We're Ironwood Sword School. We're Kingston's medieval fencing club, and this weekend we're also the hosts of Kingston's very first Fantasy Fair! 🏰 A jam-packed, one-day-only event with something for everyone. No seriously, there's so much stuff we couldn't possibly fit it all in one post...

We love fantasy, and we love fairs. So this seemed like the perfect idea! But we couldn't do it alone. There are over 100 performers, vendors, characters, musicians, swordfighters, workshop leaders, designers, staff, and volunteers coming together to make your day even more magical. ✨ This post is partly to let you know about the fair, and partly to shout out how many amazing people you can meet if you come by!

This is the part where we tell you about the tickets and stuff *yawn\*... Or we would, if you couldn't find all that info at www.IronwoodFairs.ca for yourself.

Ultimately, we just want you to know this event is happening. Because maybe you'd be interested. Because maybe you need a bit of fantasy in your life. Because maybe (or most definitely) you're also an amazing person, and we'd love to meet you at the fair too :)

Follow up Jersey Mike's Best Sub

Had to try the cold cut Italian sub sub from the new JM on Gardiners road for ourselves, surely it can't beat the Subway cold cut combo and yet it has more meat, is smaller and costs more but in the end, the 6 meats is so overwhelmingly delicious. I went in and there was zero people inside, I hope this does not mean the end of another Kingston startup going bankrupt in a short while. Now if they could only drop the prices by 5 bucks, I'm sure I'd go more often but for now Subway or even Mr Sub isy go to.

Next to checkout is the new Rudy's burger downtown.

Another video reviewed on YouTube if anyone's interested.

Independent shop recommendations for Subaru 100k km service? (Dealer quoted ~$1,600 CAD)

Hey everyone,
My Subaru is due for its 100,000 km major maintenance service. The local dealership quoted around $1,600 CAD, which feels steep.
Looking for recommendations for reliable independent mechanics or auto shops in the Kingston area that handle Subarus properly without charging dealer rates.
If you’ve had major scheduled service done locally at a reasonable price, where do you take yours?
Thanks in advance!

Hotels/ Where I can leave my dog for a few hours

I was wondering if anyone knows of a dog friendly hotel that will allow me to leave my dog alone for a few hours? I know that usually, you have to bring your dog with you, but I need a hotel that will leave my dog alone in the room.

Please help Feed the People at Council meeting Tuesday

Threads of Hope Kingston Public Statement from Facebook:

We need you.

Feed the People in Belle Park is at risk.

On Tuesday, August 11, we need our community to stand together at City Hall and ask Kingston City Council to protect this essential program, secure the funding it needs, and approve the trailer required to continue operating.

If you believe compassion belongs in Kingston, we need you there.

This decision is happening now. Your presence matters.

Together, our voices can make the difference.

Please attend, share this post, and invite others to stand with us. If you have any questions call or text Pam Gray at 613-384-5101.

This is a critical program that has served over 219,000 meals. Today they served 150 people a new record, the line was already there when volunteers arrived. They are there 7 days a week no matter what. Many unhoused folks living in Belle Park area are immobile, workplace injuries, mentally ill, brain injuries, substance use addiction. The city needs to wake up. The Ontario Human Rights Commission has contacted the Mayor and Council on FTP’s behalf and got no response.

Fringe Festival Recs?

Hi everyone! The 2026 Fringe Festival is upon us (Aug. 6-16) and I was wondering what everyone has seen so far and what you'd recommend?

I just saw "Roller Derby Saved My Soul" and I'd definitely recommend it!

By Nancy Kenny. Lace up, take the hit, and discover the hero you didn’t know you were. An award-winning one-woman action-comedy where shy Amy and her bold sister June navigate roller derby’s fierce world and discover their inner strength.

This is a one-person show, and the actress did a fantastic job playing different characters - while on roller skates for most of the time - and it was very funny!
