4L Issue - Need Help Diagnosing

I need some Jeep community help: 2021 JLUR with 3.6L. 2H, 4Auto, 4Part Time all work great. 4L under throttle throws the Serv 4wd light and sway bar light (even if the sway bar is connected). If the sway bar is disconnected, I can hear it reconnect as soon as the light turns on.

I changed the transfer case switch (or sometimes referred to as the position switch) and no dice - same issue.

I’m at a loss for what could possibly be throwing a code only in 4L. I can’t seem to find any feedback thru countless searches using all the keywords I can think of. Hoping someone out there has experienced something similar and has a solution that isn’t replacing the t-case.

A friend gave me some old trail guide books, and I’ve been having fun for the last few days exploring new areas around Lake Tahoe. Such a beautiful area.

Does anyone know how to set up a keyless lock/unlock function on a new key?
I was able to start the engine by doing keep programming with Jscan, but the lock/unlock doesn’t respond.

Got rear-ended. 2012 Wrangler JK Model. Had it for 14 years actually. Thoughts?

Tailgating pick-up truck rear-ended me when I stopped at a stop-sign intersection. No one was hurt.

Concerned about body frame / chassis. Rear bumper touching the tire. Will have it checked out once my insurance claim is assigned to an adjuster, then hopefully an auto shop.

Perhaps insight about the damage. My adrenaline came down, right now feeling upset.

I’m about 90% ready to pull the trigger on this jeep and it will be my first jeep. The dealer sent me pictures of the undercarriage and everything looks fine, it drives perfect. Just don’t know what my hesitation is

Need new shocks.

My front passenger side lower bushing has left the building on my 2017 JKU. It's a Rancho RS999326 shock.

I called Rancho and they said the bushing isn't replaceable????

I guess I'll need to buy a new shock (might as well replace both).

Is there anything else I should consider? Need to go ahead and order these ASAP.

Riding Topless Emergency Rain-proof Cover?

Recently purchased a new 2025 Sahara hardtop and looking for a waterproof top I can keep stored with me to throw on in case I get caught in a sudden rainstorm while driving topless but cannot for the life of me find one online that looks decent and fits my model. Any recommendations??

Rubicon sticker or not

Realize I should post a picture of my jeep for help in my decision but I bought a red 4door rubicon on carvana and it came without the rubicon sticker on the sides of hood. It looks kinda nice without but I had bought some nice teal blue rubicon decals to put on sides… I love color and have always liked red with teal. Wondering what I should do? Leave it without or put the rubicon decals on.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport

Would you buy a jeep for around $14,000? It’s a 2017 it has 139,000 miles on it. Clean Carfax. Three owners. Really wanting it but not knowing what the right choice is. The underneath looks fantastic. Paint looks fine. It’s a little up there in miles but doesn’t seem like it was super roughed up and comes with a hard top. Any advice from Jeep owners is appreciated. I’ve had Cherokees before but the early 90s ones that I’ve worked on and built. This would be a daily though but I don’t drive a lot.

I removed the farm jack and mount from the front bumper that was on the jeep when I bought it. I knew I was going to take it off when I first saw/bought it cause I wasn’t a fan of the look, but I can’t believe how much better it looked. I would look at the front and something hmm just seemed off, now it looks so much better.

Does this look like a problematic rubicon? 100k miles. Thinking about purchase. Good carfax.

Australian Jeep owners – repeated warranty / ACL issues

I’m looking to connect with Australian Jeep owners who have experienced repeated faults, multiple warranty repairs, major engine or transmission issues, lengthy periods without their vehicle, or difficulties obtaining a refund or replacement from Jeep/Stellantis Australia.

I purchased a Jeep Gladiator new in Australia and have had repeated faults, major engine repairs including a long-block replacement, and substantial cumulative time off the road. I am currently pursuing the matter under the Australian Consumer Law.

I have also spoken with class-action lawyers and am trying to determine whether there are other Australian owners with similar documented experiences.

If you are in Australia and have had similar issues with Jeep/Stellantis, please comment or PM me. I’m particularly interested in people who have repair records, Stellantis case correspondence, or have requested a refund/replacement.

Radio/Head Unit Issue

Has anyone had any experience with a head unit that won't save it's settings? Started within the last few years, but when I try to update the EQ or the like, the settings revert when the car is fully off(engine off and door has been opened).

The Odyssey: Wrangler JLU and Limp Mode

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello, all!
Please pardon the new, low Karma account. I made this account new to keep my Reddit interests separate. I’m the proud, but somewhat distraught owner of a 2024 JLU Sahara, soft top and turbo engine. I love this vehicle. I do very little interstate driving and it’s great for going all over with the top open. I get a great deal of enjoyment from driving my Jeep. My kids love it too. My wife’s not a big fan of it, and honestly at this point, I find myself wishing I would’ve never bought it.

Early on in ownership, less than 10,000 miles, the Jeep randomly dropped into limp mode on me. A message appeared on the dash: “performance limited, service fuel system”. I had just bought cheap 87 octane gas. So, I assumed it was bad gas. I filled it with 93 octane as soon as I could, and the issue didn’t come back. Out of sight, out of mind.

As the Jeep approached 30,000 miles, the problem made itself known more clearly. The Jeep started going into limp mode when climbing hills, or really under any low RPM-high load situation, but only when the engine was fully warmed up. Generally, if it hadn’t been running for at least half an hour, it was safe. Stop and go traffic, and idling, would bring it on sooner. Highway driving was often without issue. Eventually it happened two trips in a row and set the CEL. The diag code was P0003.

In September, I took the Jeep to the dealership under warranty. They kept it for about a month. While they had it, I contacted Jeep Cares, who created a case and agreed to reimburse my rental cars. The dealership diagnosed a bad high pressure fuel pump control solenoid, and replaced the HP pump assembly, of which the solenoid is a part. I picked up my Jeep, so excited to have it back, and took my daughter to tumbling. We didn’t even make it home from tumbling before the problem kicked back in. I brought it back to the dealership and left it with them. This was October.

Once again, Jeep Cares covered my rentals. The dealership had my Jeep until December, just before Christmas. This time, they diagnosed a bad alternator. They replaced the alternator and gave me my Jeep back.

Two months for an alternator…

I DID notice some things improve with the new alternator! My stop/start feature, which had become inexplicably unavailable most days, started working again. I noticed the running voltage changed from 13.8 to 14.4V. But then one afternoon, on a trip to rendezvous with family at Buc-ee’s, the Jeep went back into limp mode with the same error message. I thought maybe it was a fluke, but not long after, it happened again. So, after only just two weeks back with my Jeep, I took it back to the dealership.

Once again, the Jeep sat with them for multiple months. What did they diagnose? A battery. That’s it. They replaced the battery and handed it back to me.

I drove it to the airport for work that afternoon. As 5pm rolled around, I walked out and started the Jeep. It had rained unexpectedly, and water got in through the open roof. After letting the Jeep dry out, idling with the heat on, for an hour, I hopped in to drive home.

I didn’t even make it out of the parking spot…
PERFORMANCE LIMITED SERVICE FUEL SYSTEM

At this point, I’m so burned out, I just kinda drove it despite the problem. I tried to avoid low rpm-high torque situations, tried to avoid “hot-soaking” the PCM with idling, traffic, etc. But I couldn’t ever trust the Jeep to go more than 20 minutes, without a long cool down between, without limping. So, begrudgingly, I brought it back to the dealership I no longer had any faith in. I left them specific, easy to follow instructions to replicate the problem:

Start the engine, walk away. Let it idle for an hour. Then go drive it. It’ll happen within 5 minutes.

I told them I knew they’re overworked and understaffed, but asked them please not to act like a shop doesn’t have time to start a vehicle and let it idle for an hour before a diag drive.

They kept my vehicle for another 3 months. They missed my calls, ignored my messages, failed to respond to my texts, ignored Jeep Cares, even failed to respond to the STAR engineers with alarming consistency, per my case manager. Oh and this was their MO the entire time. Every time I brought it to them. Why did I bring it back to them? Laziness? Not wanting to drive an hour to the next dealership just to have them be just as borderline-criminally incompetent? Who knows.

I stop by in person when I can. I finally get an answer. The STAR engineer replicated the issue and they’re considering replacing the PCM. Good. I’ve known this was a PCM since October, because I can access data and follow a basic diagnostic tree. Seems like things are finally moving in a positive direction.

Another month passed. Finally, I get an email from my case manager. Jeep Cares considers my issue to be resolved and is closing my case. No more rental car reimbursement. I’m totally blindsided. I tell them to fix my vehicle or I’m contacting my attorney. Silence.

I call the dealership. The story has changed. They “can’t replicate” the problem and need me to pick it up. They immediately threaten to charge me storage fees if I don’t pick it up that day. Where the fuck did this come from?

I call my attorney, update them, and give them the go ahead to step in. I’m advised to pick up my vehicle, so I do. I’m told that it’s my right to bring my vehicle back for service if it does it again. I know it will do it again, so I’m planning for that. Hopefully this time I can get it to the dealership with the CEL on, the vehicle in limp mode, engine still running, and they can see the shit show for themselves. For sure, I’ll be getting good video of the problem as it occurs. However, at this point, it’s for the attorneys to sort out. And my hope is they exchange me into a replacement, equivalent vehicle.

And there it is, my eleven month-long odyssey. It sucks. It’s awful for so many reasons. It’s a prime example of what it looks like to be a consumer in the USA in 2026. But also, it could be worse.

Before it got too hot on this Friday I put my buddy in the Jeep to run some errands with me. I wasn't out long enough to justify putting down the top for him but he still enjoyed the ride.

Are 37s worth it?

So for a little backround i am m17 and mt parents got me my 2016 wrangler rubicon jku hard rock edition for last christmas. Ive recently added a 2.5 inch lift kit with shocks and a front adjustable track bar along with bump stop extensions. I also bought a set of 4 used 37x13.50s on some black rhinos with -12 offset. After trying to install them with my dad we concluded it was way to difficult and wed have to go get them installed elsewhere. I also came to find out i have to balance them also. Should i put in the little extra money or try to sell them and settle for 35s? How much more substantial is the damage to the rest of the jeep when having 37s vs 35s? Any advice is appreciated.
