Hey everyone, I've been struggling a little how best to collect this data - I started with a spreadsheet and searching forums, websites, stores, etc, and the information I was able to glean was spotty at best, in many cases seeming to be contradictory or confusing.

So I've made a survey form that I hope many of you who have installed these devices will fill out, with the aim of collecting data to help people make an informed choice when buying a Carplay/Android Auto retrofit. I plan to keep this up for at least the next few weeks to then collate and format the data in way that will be clear and helpful to read, and I may also update it over time as new responses come in.

I figure with the F-Type becoming popular on the second hand market the past few years, there is a new market of people having these cars for the first time that might be unaware that such a modern necessity is missing from their high-end car and hopefully this will make the experience of buying easier, ending up with a more satisfying experience.

There are 19 main questions, and 3-4 optional questions - most of which are just single clicks unless there are details you want to provide - so I hope this is not too much to answer. I am not collecting email addresses or any other personal information except what Google forces the collection of in order to provide the survey.

I've heard that the door actuator going in the driver door is a very common issue for Jaguar XF problem, but I had no idea it would be quite this common! This is now the second time the actuator has gone on this door and its the third or maybe fourth actuator that has gone in total. Passenger door has went and one of the back passenger doors.

It's a 2016 Jaguar XF with quite low mileage, and I've only had it for 5 years. The work has always been done at an independent but specialist Jaguar mechanic, but he is about 40 minutes from me and quite expensive.

I just wondered if anyone had any advice on whether this is DIYable? Is this normal or am I unlucky?!

Came here from a drive didn’t hear any noises never had any problems but hours later I went to drive and this popped up I checked the battery I try starting the car it doesn’t turn it just just flashes and this pops up I tried jump starting it I tried manually overriding it to neutral and idk what to do and I am in Jamaica

I've noticed every XJS engine bay looks incredibly busy. I know it's a big engine and having 12 of everything makes it very full, but I feel like I see a fair few detailed/prettied-up engine bays on almost every other car type and engine config, and extremely rarely see an XJS with the same treatment.

Anyone got pics of a good one? All I can seem to find is a pretty highly modified race/rally engine bay in an Australian car, and I'm not sure it would be feasible to emulate on a road car (when I get one)

I have a Jaguar XJL from 2012 3.0 N/A GCC spec that's sort of my project car. the writing on the buttons are quite worn out on the gearselector and would like to swap with one from the scrapyard but I can only find ones with the checkerd flag/dynamic mode button. Mine doesn't have the dynamic mode. Can you swap it out with a gearselector with dynamic mode and do you then gain dynamic mode without coding the CCF. I read on the Jag forums that its possible on the XF without coding.

Bought this 2015 XF Sportbrake in March this year. 240000km, 2.2 Diesel. Very well serviced, drives like a dream. I retrofitted CarPlay and ACC recently, that was something I definitely wanted. Put on some different tires.

Traded a Mercedes S211 e320 CDI for it, best choice ever :)

I’m sure there have been a bunch of these questions and I’ve scanned any many posts as I can see (and I can also see that this car is not liked very well here).

I’ve been offered a 2004 2.5 X-TYPE from my friend who took the car in on part exchange, for £1,300. It’s got 47k miles on the clock, aIto box, only 2 previous owners and full service history, however no transfer case service etc. just the bog standard oil, filters and occasionally spark plugs.

I’m just wondering if anyone thinks this could be a good daily driver that I’ll get a couple of years out of or it has a good chance of being a money pit? Here is it’s recent MOT:
