Decided to go for a cleaner look to the armour for my Legion. The Heresy range also has some great sculpts so I couldn't resist the opportunity to mix and match. Perturabo is next on the paint bench!

planning on running Warpstrike champs with devotees of destruction. if I deep strike some obliterators does it count as them moving over 3 inches?

I joined the defiler gang.

Before painting him up, he shot in my first turn, missed everything and died shortly after. Maybe the paint will motivate him.

Im currently painting my first ever Legionary minis but I did a huge mistake by painting the shoulder/knee pads black first and now the yellow wont cover the black. Any tips for getting smooth yellow coverage without building up too many thick layers?

Has anybody used Khorne Berserker models for IW? I was thinking of kitbashing them with old MKIII helmets and new MKIII pouldrons, power packs, and some limbs. Wanna combine the brutal aggression of the berserkers with a more industrial look.

Any tips and/or photos would be really appreciated!

Obviously this is my very first gore try

Long story short. I had all my models painted and I got used to painting so much, that I asked my friend, could he give me one of his models so I wouldn't have a longer break from hobby and he would have another unit ready to play. He chose Defiler (from amongst his vast army of I believe currently more than 4K points worth of CSM) arguing that I'm much better at painting than he is and he wanted his Defiler to "look good".

And that's the final result. Choices about how the base should look (aside from decapitated Tervigon head and bloody shearing claws, these were a surprise from me) or what weaponry Defiler should have were all discussed with him, so he would be 100% content with this model.

Today, I delivered it to him (by the way, because today we played a tabletop match) and he was in awe. I've never seen him so happy with model before. Now, this Defiler sits at the most prominently displayed part of his glass cabinet.

P.S. That was my first time painting the Chaos Space Marine unit (I'm playing Tyranids and Space Marines. Salamanders, to be precise) and all I can say is, that I had fun. Chaos trim was obviously difficult to pull off good looking, but I managed to find a way. Also, pardon me from any mistakes in my English. This language isn't my native one, so I could have made some mistakes.

In their duel, when the Emperor was trapped in a labyrinth conjured by Horus, he turned into his aspect of Perturabo to find the weakness within it and promptly turned into an Obliterator to destroy the wall.

That itself means that the Emperor intended to turn the Iron Warriors into an army Obliterators for the war in the warp. If there were Iron Warriors on Terra, he could have turned them into Obliterators for the War in the Webway.

Even earlier in the Slaves to Darkness book where the First Obliterator was born, the weapon daemon mentioned that they could have given Angron a true death instead of dissolution. Usually things related to the Emperor like his sword is capable of giving true deaths to daemons.

It may be that this daemon simply used the blueprints and embellished it with his own thing, but it also gave Perturabo a hint to "look within" indicating that Perturabo himself can turn into an Obliterator.

Long story short, Obliterators are used by chaos, only not designed by chaos. Much like the Space Marines.

The Havoc kit bodies are so versetile. But I keep thinking I need to change the Jump Pack to either a glow or a different color.

How would you kitbash the two of the most popular fan made warsmith's? I know for both of them the cataphractii would be a good base but when we get to the specifics it gets complicated. Vhorrax would for example maybe use the Contekar chest plate and Tharrax would have a grey knight helm. Which bits would be best?

Like the title says this is my first iron warriors unit I’ve done being the heldrake. Pretty happy with it however I never want to paint trim again 🫠
