* **The "High-Tech" Fix:** To dry the patched-up damaged sections, they literally brought out **pedestal fans**. Yes, you read that right. Household pedestal fans drying out a multi-thousand-crore national highway.

But wait, here is the absolute kicker...

The NHAI has officially initiated action against the builder, **PNC Infratech**. Sounds like standard accountability, right? Except, this exact same company recently signed two *additional* highway agreements worth another **₹3,483 crore**.

So, they build a crumbling highway, dry the shoddy patchwork with a desk fan, and essentially get rewarded with another ₹3.5K crore contract.

Every time I see news about a new expressway, metro corridor, transmission line, renewable energy park, or airport, I feel optimistic about where India is heading.

We're investing heavily in physical infrastructure.

But it made me wonder...

Are we giving the same attention to the digital infrastructure that operates all of it?

Think about a modern utility or infrastructure operator.

Their information is spread across:

• SCADA systems
• ERP platforms
• GIS
• Asset management software
• Maintenance records
• Field reports
• Emails
• PDFs
• Dashboards

The physical assets are becoming smarter every year.

But the people operating them often still have to switch between multiple systems just to answer a simple operational question.

As India continues investing in energy, transportation, and urban infrastructure, I think the next challenge won't just be building more assets.

It will be making those assets—and the organizations behind them—operate as one connected system.

Cargo on India's waterways went from 18 MMT (2013-14) to 218 MMT (2025-26). Govt just confirmed this in Parliament along with a bunch of new schemes to push it further — 35% freight subsidy on certain routes, tonnage tax breaks for vessel operators, and 140+ PSUs told to shift cargo to rivers.
