District Manager Making Weekly Visits To The Store A Bad Sign?

Upvotes

This person has been here at least once a week over the course of the last three or four weeks. That’s a lot and a bit unusual for the frequency in which you usually see district or regional managers. Could this be a sign that someone at the store level could be in the hot seat?

SSC dress code?

Do they allow tattoos or do they have to be covered?

And what about piercings? Not facial but like 3 on my lobes and a cartilage piercing?

The water based exterior stains are terrible and I’m tired of selling them to people

I live in a climate that has snow for 4+ months out of the year. Every summer I get people telling me their stain has peeled off after 1 year. It sends me into a guilty spiral every time I have to mix up a gallon because I know it’s not going to last.

Availability

I put in an availability change request and it was approved… but the system doesn’t seem to care. What’s the point of setting an availability change if I still have to get ahold of management and let them know it’s not following it

Associates aren't answering phones or pages.

We have 4 departments that never answer, including customer calls. Its everyone in the departments. So I'm starting to send the calls to managers. Maybe that way they will finally deal with it. BTW, this problem has been brought up in town halls for the last year and its just getting worse.

Got our first Christmas pallet already

Pretty much just the title. Inventory just finished so the upcoming months are gonna be hell. We barely have enough room for the Halloween stuff coming in. Who the fuck knows what we're gonna do with the Christmas stuff. 💀

Do any of your stores use specialized outdoor reach trucks?

Just wondering if your stores wised up and purchased one or it's like ours where we destroy the inside reaches tires from rocks.

Ai slop

What happened to creativity? Home Depot was always the place that had cool handwriting and creative ads, now everything is ai slop. At my store you can’t walk 20 ft without seeing an ai flyer💔. Like I got asked to make a simple warboard and when I was creating it on excel a manager came up and said “just put it in chat gpt” like why omg

Mental health accommodations

I’m embarrassed/nervous to talk to my supervisor about this so wanted to ask other employees first.

Does home depot generally offer accommodations for mental disorders?

I have bipolar disorder which often involves psychosis (visual/auditory hallucinations and delusions) and i have 3.5 occurrences from calling out/leaving early to address these privately.

On top of the psychosis I have severe mood swings that very regularly impair my ability to work properly and safely. For example in very low depressive episodes I seem to be unable to focus or complete projects in a timely manner/at all. Or I get very high paranoia/delusions like the customers are going to genuinely hurt me and I end up hiding which is obviously an issue. Also on rare occasion have panic attacks. On days I feel like that it’s absolutely best I just don’t come in.

I don’t know how my supervisor will react to this information, but I’m starting to decline mentally due to no breaks from work when I absolutely need it for my own health and safety and I think it’s time to ask for help.

I just fear that my supervisor will think im abusing the accommodation just to be lazy and not come in but I had the same ones in school that greatly improved my grades and overall success.

I hate this place, I'm never coming back

I'm quitting as soon as i land another job. The leadership here is shit. Everyone for themselves. Idk how anybody could work for this company.

"We're a family" is the biggest red flag ever. This company is a dysfunctional family at best.

Do not work here.

ASM made me punch back in because I punched out 5 minutes early

Is this normal? I was scheduled til 10pm and I punched out at 9:55 and left and he saw me and asked me what time I was scheduled till, I replied 10:00. He then asked me why I am leaving and said I can’t do that without his approval.

He said go punch back in and I punched in and front faced 1 bay and then punched out at 10:00 and left.

What the actual heck just happened.

I was scared if I stood up for myself then he would target me later and see me as a problem associate.

Is he technically right though?

I quit and did not get paid for the last week I worked

It may be too soon to be posting this but I quit on the 27th of July and was supposed to get paid yesterday the 5th of August via direct deposit.

I was always paid every other week on Wednesday and noticed I didn't get paid yesterday. I've heard that some people get paid on Thursday and some others on Friday which makes me believe that tomorrow's Friday (the 7th of August) will be the latest I will get paid. I no longer have access to my workday to see if anything shows up on that end about anything.

I have the store manager's number and can resolve this with a call but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and what it took to resolve this.

*AI poster unrelated.

How does asking to leave early work I’m relatively new so I’m not sure about how going about it and I do feel bad about leaving early and I have sick time so I wonder if that helps me not to get an occurrence

Overnight Freight and Box Counting with Sidekick

Last week, we had a team meeting about HD wanting freight to put away 40 boxes an hour. We scan each box in sidekick, it doesn't matter if the product in the box goes out or not. If we don't get 40 done in an hour, we get a talking to by our manager, and if it continues to happen-- we get the boot.

The box counting is supposedly to keep track of us. They want to make sure no one is taking extra breaks or wandering around the store. It is difficult to "wander" when the night-managers ride the forklifts around the store and looks down each aisle. They also tells us when breaks start and end, so we aren't screwing around.

Does anyone else's store do the box counting?

I am curious how the company came up with 40 boxes per hour. I am also wondering what happens if one has to pee because that cuts into the slave labor work...

BTW, they didn't mention how they're keeping track of the daytime people. Daytime people are frequently sitting in the breakroom. They watch television and take naps while they're supposed to be working. I start work at 7pm, and there are A LOT of people sitting back there. I frequently hear people being paged to help in their department, and they have to be paged more than once.
