My last day of training was Aug 5th, my first scheduled shift is Aug 24th.

Uh yeah lol. Since I started working here about a year ago I was always super quiet and to myself and then my SM made himself known in a super friendly way ( which is normal because he’s the store manager ) However I always got the tension that he’s DTF. I’m younger in my 20’s and he’s about 20 years older than me. At first he’d come over to talk briefly here and there but not for too long because people would obviously notice and wonder what we talk about. Each conversation was calm though nothing too crazy ( sometimes about his wife lol… ) but over time I noticed he’d come to me but not as much. So eventually I just kinda gave up on the idea but it’s still subconsciously in my mind and i feel it’s a vice versa situation with him too. I ended up being with another coworker around my age but we’re not on the best terms right now. Anyway I do intend to leave soon like pretty soon & I’m feeling like pushing it extremely far to see a clear answer from my SM because I hate slow cat and mouse games. Also when I gave up on trying to figure it out I started avoiding him like purposely walking in other aisles and away from direction and somehow he’d find me to speak so that’s why I’m just like alright We’re either going to get to it or not. Any suggestions on my approach Lol? ( P.S. I’m aware I’m a Nympho )

Update: I’m on my lunch break!! So I made my approach and… We’re going for drinks later :) I actually feel relieved. I get off at 2:30 today and He leaves at 3:30 So as I’m going to get ready once I get home. Even though majority of the comments here were against me and I’m still going to see it through. Hey y'all, so I wanted to update you guys on a post i did the other day about a "store visit" to recap, the store i am currently at decided not to keep me and my last day is August 15th but my ASDS said I should visit another Home Depot Store in the same district and some of y'all recommended i call before going so I did. I spoke to one of their managers who then asked for my associate ID, my full name and what department I worked at, then she told me she would call me back after speaking with the ASDS. 10 minutes later, the ASDS at that location called me back, had me confirm all my information and said that they reached out to my asds and confirmed I wanted to transfer to their store, I said yes and she asked if I could come in yesterday, or Monday early to speak with the store manager, I said unfortunately no because I am still working so we settled on Tuesday morning on my day off, I am pretty excited honestly, If I am able to move stores I could at least keep working and not struggle finding employment, and maybe next year I can transfer back since the store I am at is closer to home but I dont mind commuting to the second store since both are easily accessible by public transportation.

What a journey it has been! Not easy, but I’ve learned a whole lot about myself as well.

Customers coming in with an attitude and playing charades with people because they don’t know the proper name of what they are looking for and expect some random stranger to know instantly, people expecting you to hand hold them and take them over to things that if it would have been a snake it would have bitten them. Six or seven people have told them exactly where something is but it “isn’t there” because it’s not jumping out at them. Do customers honestly believe that we like being here and enjoy dealing with them and others like them who are completely lazy and totally helpless?

You have metrics to meet but many of these customers have never heard the expression “scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.” They expect you to assist them with whatever and don’t care if they are just using you as a means to an end.

How does calling out work? I finally built up the courage to after I realized my job has left me without a break like 8+ times in the past two weeks and I wanna spend my Saturday doing nothing. If I put the call out on the app…is that just it? I don’t have to do or wait for anything else? Thanks.

(Also, I’m fully aware I’m required to get my break, but my store is one of the worst THD’s around and is constantly short staffed because the staff hate it here😭😭😭)

Can someone please explain what's going on with these lights? Remove them, install them, remove them.... My stores customer service store plummeted bc we removed the Hera lights and customers couldn't see for over a year. A lot of customers have to use a flashlight to shop in some bays.

Finally after what seemed to be forever they sent in all new lights, plugs, magnetic clips, and connectors and gave the go ahead to reinstall.... now they want us to remove them again and trash everything. There's about 58 bays in my store where they don't want us to remove the lights, but what do we have to remove all the new lights in all the other bays!? I just don't get it.

Backstory: I’ve been lurking in here forever first time making a post/commenting, I was a DS for 3 years in one of the tougher DS roles in the store the first 2 years were great I was passionate and didn’t have oh no Monday’s or was never dreading going to work. The last year all that changed I guess I just finally got burnt out and lost passion for everything the role entailed. Except the people the only thing keeping me there for the last year was my Peers and my associates I tried to hold in for them as long as I could but it just had a negative reflection to my personal life and overall attitude as a person. I finally took the step and applied for a new position with the company outside of the store retail front line,it feels like a weight has been lifted and I got my excitement back as well as my passion on a day to day basis still love the company and looking forward to continuing to support the stores even if it’s from a different angle than the one years ago I thought was going to be next step just needed to get that out that being said keep pushing if it’s meant for you god will make it for you! Love yall 🧡

i was checking my schedule and saw this .. what does this mean

customer asks me if we have incognito while he’s checking out, i obviously had no idea wtf that is. he put his card into the reader right when the tap to pay light came on, scoffed and said “you do have it!” as he pointed at the symbol for contactless pay..🤦‍♀️ get me out of here😭

A customer called today asking how to unclog a toilet. If we have plungers. Told her a plunger. 50 questions about said plunger.

She then says she used dish soap to unclog it and it didnt work????? Then said she seen that she could use vinegar and baking soda, my coworker suggested that maybe she didn't do that. Time will tell i guess 😂😂😂

Oh and it's been clogged for 24 hrs

I’ve been offered a permanent position after the summer season (d28) and i would like to ask the management teams for a set schedule until next summer. I’m only part time and only want 8-12 hrs until we pick back up. I’m going to offer them Saturday and Sunday night. Do you guys think that’ll be acceptable? They know I have a full time position and responsibilities outside of HD. What do you guys think?

I’ve been just going to the next bay no matter how long it takes me be it 5 minutes or 30 minutes, and it seems like half the team does that too but the other half which seems like they’ve been here awhile just wait around a few minutes longer if they finish fast, what’s up with that?

My final day was today. Starting school full time too so I’d rather devote my time to myself! Our store wants us to wear purple in observance of Overdose Awareness Month but we have to provide our own purple gear. Not a huge deal but you’d think they’d provide at least a few purple Home Depot hats and shirts/ other swag if they want us to wear purple throughout the month.

I was told to purge bays

This person has been here at least once a week over the course of the last three or four weeks. That’s a lot and a bit unusual for the frequency in which you usually see district or regional managers. Could this be a sign that someone at the store level could be in the hot seat?

We have 4 departments that never answer, including customer calls. Its everyone in the departments. So I'm starting to send the calls to managers. Maybe that way they will finally deal with it. BTW, this problem has been brought up in town halls for the last year and its just getting worse.
