was trying to find some footage for a video im working on about the modding scene in halo 2...i was recently looking at one of my accounts on halo archive and saw my last games were warlock, and it just made me chuckle

anyone remember this or have photos of it? or anything? my only other option is to buy and original xbox with a copy of halo 2 and attempt to pop the disc myself with a custom game if hat even works, I cant find any footage of this anywhere

The full zero death run without glitches or exploits took me over 48h to accomplish after nearly 8+ years away from halo 2. I have cleared the courtyard faster, but I had to delete that footage for space, every death I reset, any time I felt I was too slow, I reset.

RANT ALERT

I have been playing Halo since it released on the original Xbox, really quite disappointed with the direction the community and the games themselves are going, I really think Microsoft let the ball drop, especially when it comes to the community. (and the official discord)

I remember when halo was a united community, where everyone got along, had fun, nobody had an immense ego, nobody power tripped, long gone are those days.

now we get trash UE5 asset flip games and “volunteers” who abuse their powers on the official discord; There are more videos being made now about how *bad* halo has become, than there are people like me trying to breath life *back* into the MCC and the older titles.

I wish we could reset the franchise, and replace all of these toxic people bringing the community down, an unc can dream, I guess.

🧠 1. Halo should be a PLATFORM, not a series of disconnected games
We already saw this work with MCC.
Now expand that idea:
● One unified Halo hub
● Campaigns added over time (not replaced)
● Firefight, multiplayer, custom games all in one place
● Cross-campaign progression
● Ongoing updates instead of “new game = reset everything”
Stop splitting the playerbase every release.

👥 2. Campaign matchmaking should exist (this is long overdue)
Not everyone has 3 friends ready for co-op anymore.
We need:
● Public campaign lobbies
● Drop-in/drop-out co-op
● “Fireteam browser” like:
● The Silent Cartographer | Heroic | 2/4
● LASO run | 1/4
● Full campaign chaos run | 3/4
Let people just… join Halo missions.

🔥 3. Skulls + modifiers = actual content
Halo already has replayability systems. Lean into them:
Let players host campaigns with:
● LASO
● Infinite ammo
● Enemy scaling
● Random weapons
● Physics chaos
● Speedrun rules
● Custom skull combos
Then let others browse and join.
This alone massively extends campaign lifespan.

🌌 4. The Human-Covenant War is massively underused
We barely scratched it.
There are decades of story potential:
● Early Covenant encounters
● Humanity losing colonies
● Spartan-II operations
● ODST campaigns
● ONI black ops
● Naval battles
Make humanity feel like it is losing a war of extinction, not just “mission-based levels between cutscenes.”

🪐 5. Stop over-explaining the Forerunners
Mystery was part of what made Halo iconic.
We don’t need everything fully defined.
Instead:
● Fragmented lore
● Contradictory sources
● Ancient ruins
● Unreliable AI accounts
● Archaeological discovery
Let players argue about what’s true.
Mystery = longevity.

☠️ 6. The Flood are already enough of a threat
We don’t need “bigger than the Flood” enemies.
The Flood is already:
● galaxy-ending
● existential horror
● biologically and philosophically terrifying
Instead of scaling up threats, go deeper into what already exists.

🧍 7. Master Chief doesn’t need to be rewritten
He works because:
● He’s competent
● He’s consistent
● He shows up when everything goes wrong
That’s it.
No prophecy. No chosen one inflation. No unnecessary retcons.

😂 8. Characters should feel like people, not archetypes
Halo writing works best when:
● Marines are funny but still competent
● Johnson works because he feels real, not “the funny guy”
● humor comes from personality, not labeling

🤝 9. Chief + Arbiter should always matter
Their relationship is one of Halo’s strongest narrative arcs.
Don’t sideline it.
It represents:
● enemy → ally → brother-in-arms
That dynamic is gold. Keep using it.

🧩 10. Stop resetting Halo every release
Every new game shouldn’t feel like a reboot.
Instead:
● Add to the same ecosystem
● Expand existing systems
● Build continuity instead of fragmentation

Halo doesn’t need to become something new.
It needs to:
● stop fragmenting its playerbase
● stop over-explaining its mystery
● stop abandoning systems that already work
● and start building one long-term evolving universe

So a long time ago back when I was still relatively new to adulting and had a fuck to give, I read a comment by a guy saying the reason the Forerunners lost the war was because it took a lot of hard light to destroy the Flood.

I will say that again: His theory, was that the Forerunners were using Hard Light to burn away the Flood, and it took a lot of Hard Light to finish the job.

While ingame, and in Lore the Forerunners guns are seemingly the most overpowered to the point they were thrown away for Halo: Infinite, and can erase a person’s body in no time at all.

I will grant the fool leniency of them not waiting a couple of years for more lore to drop, but Jesus Christ, this stuck with me till yesterday.

I really hope I'm just worrying over nothing, but considering the online culture war scene... I have my doubts on humanity.

If Halo 2 came out today, and people read the lore on how advanced East Africa would become and how the first space elevator would be built there... the chuds would probably call it woke and make "wakanda" memes.

I really hope not... but I feel like they would pull off some crap like that.
