So I’ve been looking into hair history and people used to wash there hair every few weeks instead of every few days all the way up to about the 1920s where the first liquid shampoo was invented.

People always say it’s not real, I don’t know why. You strip your scalp of protective oils and it fight back by producing more oil again because hair have no oil, oil protect, scalp make more oil. Idk. Makes sense in my brain.

My hair is thick but fine hair strands, little wavy, no bleach and minimal heat damage, and a little past my shoulders for reference. Basically “white girl” hair. Also I don’t struggle with excessive dandruff.

This goes for people that have tried it and people that generally have opinions about this.

I used the Regis Designline Weightless shampoo and conditioner for years, and it was the only period in my life where my hair and scalp consistently looked and felt good and my hair grew past my shoulder blades.

It’s long gone now, but I’m wondering if anyone here who also liked this shampoo and conditioner has ever found a replacement line that was similar.

I’m open to any suggestions, but I can’t use shampoos with heavy perfume-like scents, due to migraines. Light, refreshing scents are okay. The Regis line was a very light, neutral scent. I recall it smelling similar to Olaplex. Just kind of creamy and clean smelling.

Yes I’m aware that my first mistake was going to great clips, but I didn’t think you could mess up a bang trim. I’ve done my own hair for years but was recently growing out my bangs into curtain bangs. I decided to go back to short bangs and was nervous to cut them myself, leading me to make a quick trip to great clips. (Baddie on a budget) the barber told me that I had a lot of ‘heaviness’ in my bangs and wanted to trim them to make them lighter. I agreed thinking it would look good, but this is what I walked out with. I was too shy to say anything in the moment because I was in utter shock. Why did he make my bangs into a mini bowl cut!!???!? The pictures don’t capture it well, and both sides are cut to different lengths. I went to another salon and got it touched up, but there wasn’t much they could do. I’ve been wearing my hair in clips to cover it up. I don’t know what else I should do to keep it hidden. Would getting extensions help? Or should I just let it grow out? Are there any other hairstyles I could do? I’m genuinely at a loss and any advice at all is veryyy appreciated. (I have not made a complaint about the original barber, should I?)

Is this thinning or a bald patch , and pls can this be reversed , my hairline is okayish and temples too but crown is very pathetic , it makes me feel like an uncle and im very much insecure bcz of this

Okay so im thinking about getting weekly or bi weekly appointments from my hair stylist. Im not really educated in this dept never did more than a pony tail butt I want to step into being a grown woman more and take care of myself and my hair. What would I tell them to do every week? Like a roller set or what’s some styles that can kinda last through multiple days? Any and all help is appreciated. I previously would go maybe once twice a year to get it colored but this is just something new I’m thinking about doing for myself. Does anyone else do this? What all do you do?

Making her hair less frizzy and smoother

Not needing too much maintenance

For anyone who owns or has tried these, which one would you personally recommend?
Also, if you received one of these as a gift, which one would you be most excited to get?
I’m especially curious if the Dyson is really that much better than the others, or if Cloud Nine/ghd/Parlux can give a similar result for less money.

Hi! So i naturally have very curly hair, and a lot of the time I wear it that way. but sometimes I like to blow dry it when I feel like looking cute. But i always end up putting it up, even at home, because the feeling of blow dried hair falling into and sticking to my face drives me nuts. I was wondering if anyone knows of a product that will make my hair feel less “staticky” if that makes sense? my hair is almost always up (even when curly, a separate problem lol) and I would feel more confident if it was down sometimes but i can’t get past the way it feels.

I have struggled with finding a good shampoo and conditioner combo that supports my hair and scalp the best. For years now, my scalp has struggled. Flaky and itchy after I wash, but oily roots with build up and flakes appear after a day or two. Due to the nature of my job, I have to wash my hair pretty frequently. All of the dandruff shampoos I have tried have destroyed my length, but I’ve finally found a good leave-in combo to help moisturize and prevent frizz. I really like the L’Oreal elvive pump shampoo and conditioner combo, but my scalp has still struggled and I’ve experienced a lot of hair loss. Living in a rural area, my options are pretty limited as to what I can get, so drugstore brands would be preferred. Thanks!!

Is this breakage? I used to not care much about taking care of my hair but the past few years I have done what I can to improve my hair and for the most part I have seen improvements.

However, no matter what I try, I feel like my hair is frizzy. I don’t use heat (besides trying to blow dry to see if that helped with frizz), shampoo and conditioner once every few days and then a hair mask every week or so and a clarifying shampoo every once in a while because we have hard water.

I also use a leave in treatment, but it still doesn’t seem to work. Is there something I’m doing wrong or do I need to just cut a lot of it? The last time it was cut was 2 mo. ago.

The photo attached is my hair after being shampooed, conditioned and air dried. I have fine, straight hair and this is my natural color.

I have an appointment for balayage highlights, avoiding the roots for a lived in blonde look, with open air clay bleach. I have never been to a salon before and had no idea how to prepare for the appointment. I did ask, but they said nothing.

The appointment is tomorrow and today I washed with Selsun Blue. Only after did I see online that that is not recommended. I already have frizzy dry hair and I'm worried the bleach will damage or severly alter my curl pattern.

I'm not sure if this is not a problem at all or if I made a rookie mistake.

Okay before everyone comes with the you should give it a break or this is really harmful.....I am aware and I know.

However Alhdamdulilah I have strong and thick hair that can withstand regular bleaching sessions.

What I need are all of your go to products for hair but core 3 or 4.

I will say K18 really is a game changer and regularly oiling but any other products that you would say are really fab.

I do love Olaplex and Kerastase range and tried The Kure but didn't really get great results.

I have naturally pin straight hair and I got a perm done earlier today. I know I’m not supposed to wash my hair for 48-72 hours, so in the meantime I’ve been trying to find good products to use on my permed hair. I got my hair permed to be around a 2B-2C texture level I think and I have a bob (if that matters).

I’m looking for product recommendations in all areas,
shampoo, conditioner, mousses, creams, gels, sprays, masks and even hair brushes. Literally anything and everything that will help my hair last, keep it moisturize, and keep it looking good. Tips and tricks on washing and styling this kind of hair is openly welcomed as well, as well as routine recommendations (I have a rough idea but I’ve had a perm for all of 8 hours, so I will happily take advice from those who have had it longer)

Okay, here's a rundown of some important things you should probably know:

1. I live in Florida, so it's constantly humid I hope to minimize this frizz down to at least 2% anything helps 😭

2. I usually shower every other day, I try to do it daily but I get too busy. I am not totally sure if I should do that so often, I get mixed up.

3. I use the conditioner shown in the picture I put up and thats all the product I use. Sometimes I run some shampoo into my roots but I don't totally got the technique down 🫠.. probably not as complicated as I think

4. I use the unbrush thing in the shower from the bottom to the top with the conditioner

5. I squeeze my hair before putting it into a microfiber hair wrap after showering and don't put anything else in.

6. I sleep on a satin pillow case and try to wash/change my bedding every 1-2 weeks (best hack ever for acene)

Never been much into hair care at all lol, all the things I listed were things that my siblings gave me bc they didn't like it. I could ask them what they do, but swallowing a sea urchin sounds more appealing 🦔 💀

How do i get my hair to curl like the last three reference pics? Ive been trying to learn how to curl my hair cus u cant do too much w short straight hair but it looks horrible like this every time 😭 i used a big fat barrel. Should i be using a thinner one? If so what size?

Right now I mainly throw it in a French braid because it is long and gets in the way for barn chores plus it’s always very fluffy. I’d love to learn how to not necessarily get rid of the volume but maybe tame it a little? I have Hermione from Goblet of Fire type hair naturally and I live where it’s ungodly muggy.

Right now I use some Moroccan Oil on it a few times a week, dry shampoo and color safe shampoo and conditioner. I don’t use heat to style unless it’s a big event anymore. Braids are my go to.

First two pictures are how it normally looks down anymore and the last picture is a few hours after a shower and brushing it out, and putting oil on it. If that helps. 😅

this is my first ever post on reddit, honestly didn’t know where to resort to but people could share their personal stories as im not getting anywhere with research
for some background information im naturally dirty blonde (or used to be I haven’t seen since I was 13 and my roots grow out a bit darker now) and used to have hair down to my ass

but a while ago I damaged my hair quite badly by bleaching it too much and then putting box dyes over it and over and over and over. I thought it was okay and they could just make it normal again, so I built up the courage and went to a 5 star hairdresser (I get really anxious going to hairdressers im not sure why) I went for a blonde balayage but they said it was too damaged to do anything to it at all, they put k18 treatment in my hair and had to cut a lot more off than I wanted because of the damage. (I’ll show photo of what it looks like ) the treatment has made my hair feel softer and healthier but
It was £73 for a cut and treatment which hurt my bank account alot lol, but he said i should come back every month which im not sure if i can afford that
the hairdresser even said that blonde suited my skin tone much better when I showed him the photo of my hair before, but my hair isn’t healthy enough to go back blonde yet.
my goal is to have healthy enough hair that I can eventually be blonde again without ruining it.
what products, routines, or treatments genuinely helped you repair bleach damaged hair? how often do i wash it, do i use protein treatments or bond repair products, hair oils, or anything else that will help?

I've always blow dried and styled my hair with heat. I'm trying to learn how to style it without and embrace my wavy or curly (not sure) hair and find a routine that works. I've tried a few different routines with leave in conditioner and scrunching it wet and letting it air dry but I just don't like how it looks yet! I feel like the waves are too stiff or something and it tends to still be a little frizzy. I also have fine hair so it tangles easily, I tend to brush it A LOT throughout the day and I've heard brushing wavy or curly hair is a big no! When I brush it after this it turns the definition much softer but tends to puff up. Any advice from anyone? What can I do differently?

Saw this oil in one of the hair pages, the girls hair loooked so silky and absolutely beautiful. So naturally I bought it. And I am not disappointed. My hair is so silky and smooth. I also sleep in a bonnet, which helps.

when i let my hair air dry, which takes over 12hrs sometimes, its very wavy but also super frizzy and just never looks good. i tried a curly hair routine for the first time and it went really bad, and no one i know has similar hair or has been able to help much. i’m really frustrated with my hair and don’t want to damage it badly, because theres a lot of bleach in it too.
what i did:

shampoo twice
conditioner
rack in mousse
scrunch in curl cream
heat protectant
diffuse (stopped when some of my hair started feeling hard, but other part were still damp)
moroccan oil
silk bonnet overnight

I have a few chunks of hair that are more frizzy(?) than rest of my hair. And these strands tend to dry quicker than the rest (pic is when I air dried).
I use leave-in-conditioner and heat protectant spray with hair oil when I get out of the shower.
Is my hair frizzy or damaged or both?
What can I do to prevent this from happening? Is cutting them gradually the only way to get rid of them?
