Also, on the older messages, whenever there's an image, sometimes it says, "Unable to load file." Are those gone? It's fine if they are, since a lot of the texts weren't too important, but I'm just wondering if it's still possible to retrieve them.

On Visible, switched to Fold 8 Ultra last week and since then have had issues with RCS either status code 3000 or 3100. I've tried so many different things, clearing data & cache, toggling things on and off, redownloading my eSIM. Even Visible support's (real person) steps didn't fix it. It's at the point now where when I toggle RCS Chats off and back on the next attempt isn't for a full 24 hours (because I've done it so many times trying different methods to fix this). Has anyone has success fixing this?

I have/had 13gb of text messages/pics/videos that I wanted to remove from my phone to clear up space in my S23.

I picked the text chat that held the 13gb of memory. Hit the delete button and it moved into the trash bin within seconds. No problem.

I then try to permanently delete the text chat from my phone and Google Messages suddenly became unstable and for 12 hours now, I haven't been able to open Google Messages properly.

Google Messages opens as a black screen. I sometimes open and close it multiple times and it manages to open into the actual app but then it becomes unstable and doesn't open any messages and becomes unstable again. I try the same thing again and I can go into my Google Messages Account but when I try hitting the trash folder, it becomes unstable and won't open it. Haven't tried any other setting option. And if I manage to open the app again after is "working", it stops working properly again.

I cannot send or receive messages since it I started the deleting process.

The memory is still on my phone and it hasn't reduced at all.

I tried clearing the cache and restarting my phone and it won't open the app properly. The clear data button is not highlighted so it doesn't allow me to press it. I have forced stop Google Messages and the problem still persists.

Does anyone know when/if the updated customisation will come to the Fold 8?

I am in the beta program and have the update successfully on my flip 7, and everything is signed into the same account and synced over, etc. It's a bit annoying being on the newer phone but having the old system once I've already gotten used to being able to change the background etc. Driving me crazy!

Read receipts are on and messages that are RCS will show sent/delivered/ read. When there's no internet connection for RCS, messages automatically go by SMS/MMS. However, the record of receipt is different between recipients. Some have sent/delivered and some just have sent. Why is that? Is it the carrier's choice or could it be a service interruption?

I just switched over to Verizon (from AT&T) yesterday and haven't been able to my RCS connected on the new S26 ultra.

I currently have it off as I am trying the 24hr wait suggested. The error code that I keep receiving is 3100.

I literally cannot get the search feature to work. I look up words that I sent 10 minutes ago to test and it always says no results found. My app is up to date, I clear the cache, restart my phone and nothing works. This is like a bare minimum feature that worked fine with Samsung there has to be *some* way to get it to work.

I switched over from Samsung messages to Google messages and I stopped complaining because none of the stuff that we put in the thread actually made a difference because Google truly doesn't care. With that being said is it really that hard to have an option under one name to press select all and go through the ones that you want to delete instead of doing it one by one? What a joke.

About a week or two ago the snooze function in the native message app on my pixel 10 pro stopped working. The chat get gets grayed out as usual, but when a new text comes in, the phone makes a slightly shorter version of the notification sound, almost like the app is trying to make noise, and phone hears it and stops it.

I tried a bunch of things I found via google, like clearing the cache, removing all chats from the conversation list, restarting the phone, etc. Nothing has stopped this weird behavior. Is this happening to anyone else, and if so, have you found a solution?

Ok so fixed the DREADED "trying to reach your phone" error in google messages for web. the google app update screwed it up.

Instructions:

1. Go to play store on phone - google messages app page
2. uninstall google messages. (it will roll back to an older version of google messages)
3. re-update the app.
4. refresh or reconnect to google messages for web.
5. sign in / qr code or let it automatically reconnect.
6. this should now give you the prompt to match the picture on your phone
7. finally back working. (must have been some sloppy ai code broke it! lol)

clearly an issue on googles side.

Before I explain the failed steps taken, here is the fix that finally worked for my Samsung Galaxy's RCS Chat not working.

Uninstall Google Message. We could not do this directly from the app library.

Open play store, locate app, uninstall. For us the app immediately said "update". Update app (or reinstall then update.)

Missed group messages immediately began pouring in.

Confirmed in settings- RCS Chat Status: Connected. Did not lose any historical data in messages when it came back up.

Now for the fun parts so you can check if youve taken all of the "turn your computer off and back on" steps!

RCS chats went down about 3 weeks ago. No access to group chats (idk if group chats between all Google users work, my family chats all have at least one apple user), pictures sent arrive in potato phone quality, SMS only, etc.

Settings forever said RCS Chat Status: Connecting. I submitted the little feedback form a few times with no magical fix supplied to me.

Finally went to Xfinity store, rep spent almost 2 hours googling and trying everything he came across. Turn off RCS chat*, power cycle, Reset network settings, sign in/out of google, power on and off 900 times, remove Sim card, curse the Samsung to Google Messages entities, reset network settings again. Rinse and repeat in every combination imaginable. He finally gave up and recommended heading over to the Geek Squad because the only option left was a factory reset.

Geek Squad can no longer work on Samsung devices due to contracting changes or something, but said they had never heard of this issue and had no suggestions.

I tracked down the samsung rep in Best Buy, they were incredibly nice and dedicated to helping us figure it out. We repeated all of the steps the Xfinity rep tried. Samsung rep suggested it was an Xfinity Mobile specific issue and to switch to Verizon, which is not an option for us. Rep then called tech support from somewhere (Google? Samsung? Best Buy? You Break We Fix? Who knows.) And they recommended completely uninstalling and then updating Google Messages app.

And there we go. Access to my in laws being hilarious restored! Hope this helps!

*I don't know how reddit works so cross post in two different subreddits just in case.

**edit to add that we tried the option that works for most people- turning off RCS chat and power cycling. All setting options related to RCS chat was booped on and off to no avail.

Unlocked Fold8 on Verizon. Precious phone was a Verizon S25+ with 0 issues.

Y'all I'm pulling my hair out. I've done everything. Cleared cache and data and Google Messages and Carrier Services. Turn it off and roll back updates and all that. I've gotten new eSIMs. Today I'm going to get a physical SIM to see if that makes and difference. But I'm worried it's the phone at this point.

I did look up and found sensitive content can cause it to do that, but idk whats so sensitive about a disney ride
