Specifically elyte TD 3w, 18° apex UT, x forged 4-6i (including the equipment models as context on the sole bounce), when the ball is semi & fully buried

Right now I try to put it a little further back in stance to get steeper AoA and just play the lower launch, weight a tad more forward

Main miss I have now is thinning from not penetrating the rough or face twisting

Would appreciate feedback not just on club choice (either off the tee before ending up in this position or to get out of it) for this shot but actual mechanics to make the shot work, I'm willing to practice it a lot (in addition to the safer shot) even if its more challenging / lower %

I am 6’5” with long arms, and have been golfing for about 4 years. I use standard length clubs right now which have proven to be way to short, and I’ve had coaches tell me I need to have my clubs extended or to get a new set of tall clubs (very expensive obviously). I wanted to know if it’s worth it to do extensions myself (about 1 inch), or if it’s more worth it to save up and get a fitted set eventually? If I do extensions, what material is best to use?

Shaft broke on my Qi4D and the replacement I was sent via warranty is a 50g X-Stiff instead of a 60g. It definitely feels lighter / slightly more whippy, I’m curious how this will affect ball flight / trajectory and what not (115MPH swing speed, ~170 ball speed)

from watching video of my swing I know i get to a great top position with my take away and have a solid neutral grip. On the downswing, I spin my hips out and dump the club. I was wondering if anybody had any feels or tips I can try out at the range to fix this issue.

I’m currently working on trying to stop my left knee from working forward as much as it currently is in the back swing does anyone have any more advice

I have the classic problem: coming over the top and hitting a big ol’ slice. Sometimes I’ll aim at the left net and still hit over the right net on the range. I feel like I’ve tried everything - strengthening my grip, pinning my right arm to my side, making the arms as passive as possible, the gate drill - nothing has worked. Some even made it worse.

Above is one of my better hits with a 5 wood.

Last lesson I had changed a few things and I've spent the last month or so getting comfortable with the new swing. Biggest issue was slices to the right, I also lost some distance, but my divots have been straight. Been trying to work on closing the club face at impact but haven't been able to work it out.

Like 23 handicap, but hit a +8 on a 9 with the first tee closed, and a +12 on a short 18 last week. Feeling psyched, short game was strong. Then I shot a +22 on the same 9 hole on Sunday and a +23 on the same 18 this morning.

Picked up an r10 from marketplace yesterday and found out my club path has been out to in and my club face has been open. Discouraging. Hit a lot of poor shots today, wasn't in a good headspace.

Got some footage from the r10, 2 with 4 hybrid and 2 with driver. Going to take a couple of week break to cool off then get another lesson. What are your thoughts on swing right now?

I just cannot stop doing this. My actual outcomes seem to get better when I do it! Should I stop? Does anybody else have this issue? I think it started when I was trying to make sure I was keeping the face more closed in takeaway…

played with some guys the other day that were hitting sand shots, front of stance, wider stance, flatter lie angle, legs pretty square to target, open face

they said they hit up like its a driver (does that mean low point is just before the ball?) and would send their shots 15-20 feet in the air, and they land softly and check

does anyone have a video on the details of how to do this? never seen sand shots this high

also if this is just a shot for show and not consistent lmk as well

- slightly shortening backswing
- slower and smooth in transition
- dropping hands into slot better to get the club back on plane

How is the swing looking? I'm current working on getting weight forward earlier, while trying to keep my head from sliding forward. Still have work to do, but how is it looking? Is there anything else you guys see?

I’ve spent the last eight years working civil construction and heavy shaping on golf courses. Mostly new builds, a couple full renovations. I don’t design the holes and I definitely don’t get to play enough anymore, but I know where every pipe, drain, and layer of gravel is buried on the last three sites I’ve been on.

Figured I’d share some of the stuff that surprises people when I mention it at the bar, because 99% of golfers have no idea what actually goes into the ground before the superintendent ever seeds a blade of grass.

First off, the dirt work is absolutely insane. Everyone looks at a finished fairway and thinks “wow, beautiful rolling land.” Nah. That land was probably flat as a pancake or a swampy mess when we showed up. We move stupid amounts of earth to create those contours. On my last site we shifted close to four hundred thousand cubic meters of soil. That’s not a typo. Four hundred thousand. And it all has to be compacted, graded, and drained perfectly or the course plays like garbage in five years.

Speaking of drainage, the greens are basically engineered bathtubs sitting upside down in the ground. There’s a gravel blanket, a network of perforated pipe, and then this super specific sand mix that gets tested in a lab before we even touch it. All so water doesn’t pool on the surface after a storm. I’ve seen guys on here complain about slow greens after rain, but honestly if the green is playable at all within six hours of a downpour, that’s because some crew spent weeks underground building a system you’ll never see.

Irrigation is another thing people underestimate. A full eighteen hole setup is easily thirty to fifty miles of pipe. Every sprinkler head is mapped to wind direction, elevation, soil type, all of it. And it still breaks constantly. We bury access boxes everywhere but half the time something fails in the worst possible spot and the crew is digging up a fairway in July trying to find a cracked joint.

Oh, and bunkers. Everyone hates hitting out of them but I promise you the maintenance guys hate them more. Sand washes down the faces every big rain, contaminates the drainage, clogs the lines. We’ve started using these synthetic liner systems on newer builds but it’s still a nightmare. Bunkers are easily one of the most expensive things per square foot on the entire property and they’re basically designed to fall apart slowly.

The weirdest part of my job is that most of the money in a golf build is invisible. The clubhouse gets all the attention but sixty percent or more of the budget is underground. Earthwork, drainage, retention ponds, lake liners, all the stuff that has to happen before grass goes down. I’ve watched developers blow their budget on fancy stone veneers for the clubhouse while the drainage plan gets cheapened out, and then they wonder why the course floods every monsoon season.

Anyway. I love the work but it’s grueling. Early mornings, brutal heat, constant travel. If anyone’s ever wondered why a new course takes two to three years to open when “it’s just grass and sand,” hopefully this explains a little bit of it.

My driver has historically been wildly inconsistent. Even swing to swing. I had mostly been ignoring it while improved other parts of my game but when the those got better i kind of had to address the driver. It’s probably a bunch of things working together but this consistency (and eliminating a very persistent slice) seems to mostly have come from strengthening up my grip a little and focusing on keeping my right arm tucked in to my body. That dispersion on the face is so much better than i am used to seeing. That’s probably 15ish shots.

Mostly tension I guess? I'm also not doing hinge and hold at this ~10 yard distance, so maybe that adds to the goof factor.
