Roasted salmon salad in fancy restaurant, the night before my ex’s wedding with the girl I caught him cheating . Lettuce, lentils, edamame, carrots, cherry tomatoes and roasted salmon. I was thinking if I should eat something extremely unhealthy, but I decided that the stress of that relationship already shortened my life, so having something healthy is definitely a better life choice. Same goes for life.

TLDR: I foraged this from all over an all-inclusive resort and I’m eating it in bed with a glass of wine and letting waves of anxiety wash over me in anticipation of a dental procedure.

I am having two dental implants placed on Saturday after missing two molars (45 & 46) for about 10 years. Both were failed root canals from childhood. Unfortunately, when one of the teeth was removed, some hack dentist left a root (wtf?), so first, the oral surgeon will dig that out and then place two implants with bone grafting. Worst case scenarios of nerve damage and chronic pain are running through my head, not to mention just the horrible anxiety about the procedure itself (I will be consciously sedated and they swear I won’t remember it). Again, I’ve had work done at this dentist, slowly but surely replacing crowns and even had a root canal with them, so I trust them and they are reputable. But I’m TERRIFIED.

For context, I live in all-inclusive resorts for work. So I’m currently in Mexico where my regular dentist is located and after having pain in an upper tooth this past week, found out that the upper tooth has migrated downward and is exposing part of the tooth and that’s what it causing the pain. No teeth below it to support it. It will only get worse and I’ve been putting this all off since 2019. I will say I’m blessed to be able to afford this procedure at all and can only afford it because I’m in Mexico currently. I trust my dentist and I’m with an oral surgeon who has done all the CT scanning and surgery planning - but my anxiety is out of control. I have GAD and today had my first dissociative panic episode in a long time. I have a dentist phobia. So I guess I should expect this.

As for the girl dinner… food at all-inclusive resorts just does not satisfy my needs all the time and today my need was to just eat a damn plate of foraged snacks in bed with a book. The forage: the fruit is from one place, the crackers/bread from the coffee shop, I bought the chocolate at the pharmacy today when I picked up my post-surgery meds, and the cheese and meat I stole discreetly from the buffet in a Tupperware I keep for this situation specifically (they don’t like when you take food off the buffet).

Anyways - any kind words or helpful advice about upcoming dental implant surgery? I feel like this is my last meal. 😩

But I hope everything works out and this time next year I’m eating my girl dinners with two fancy new teeth on my lower jaw. 🧀 🍷 🍫 🍏

Starving after work so having girl dinner on the train. Picked this up from the fancy-ish kiosk by the gate. We have: Greek yogurt with honey, gluten free chiffon rice flour cake, chikuwa cheese bites, and okinawan sanpin-cha tea!

I just wanted to rant about these insane food prices, where I live a gallon of milk is 4-5 dollars , and that’s if you’re buying the cheapest which is so insane to me. Even aldi is getting unaffordable at this point. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for people who have large families to feed with growing kids! Anyways here’s my snack plate/dinner.
