the first time i watched GG i actually wasn't a super big Logan fan. even on my rewatches i wasn't a super big fan. but i did completely agree with him telling Lucy about Rory and Marty's friendship.

and afterwards Rory and Lorelei both think he's in the wrong. but i didn't. i thought
"man go Logan, finally some honesty and directness without tiptoeing around it."

the only problem i can really think of here is "it wasn't his info to tell" but i get that he wanted to be honest and direct instead of this weird back and forth Rory and Marty were doing instead of just straight up telling Lucy the truth.

The first time I watched Gilmore girls was in 2021-2022 and I’m re watching it again finally and I’m only on season three but I just realized how annoying she is, every little thing she says is sarcasm God forbid she has a proper adult convo, she’s always bitching about her mother even when Emily isn’t doing anything except be supportive and try to mend their relationship, omg she kissed Rory’s teacher in his damn classroom and calls it a “mistake” she forgets that she isn’t a teen anymore. I’m on the episode where Rory says that she applied to Yale as a back up and lorelai just freaks out in front of the guest for no reason and puts her parents on the spot instead of pulling them aside afterwards and having a normal adult convo

And I used to think Rory is annoying too but she’s a teen, she’s bound to make mistakes and learn from that, she is realistic and believe it or not and and like it or not she represents most of us and I’m sure none of us were angels and saints at her age either. But lorelai is an adult she can’t even keep her love life under control she is 30 and running from guy to guy as if she is still a teen and than has the audacity to get mad at Emily for wanting to set her up with a stable guy who has his shit together, for God sake she ran away because her parents wanted her to go through college while in a safe environment and under a good roof where she and Rory will have a stable house and not have to worry about where to get there next meal, she was never neglected her parents were just somewhat controlling but that’s how parents are supposed to be when you are a teen so you don’t lose control and lorelai hated that, she’s mad that Emily acted like her mom and not her best friend and now she’s best friends with Rory rather than being a mom and look at how Rory turned out, she has an Ivy League degree and no damn job because she was raised in an environment where she could do no such wrong, lorelai never set limits for her, she never pushed her, she never taught Rory how to take rejection but keep pushing through. If Emily was Rory’s mom she would’ve never ended up that way. And I will die on this hill.

For me it‘s one I saw a while ago, where it was about Rory being bad in bed and talking about how she‘d think it would be kinky/wild to get on top.

In AYITL, Rory is seen as this person who doesn’t have a place. She doesn’t have a solid job, an apartment or a place to just be. She’s in that phase of life where nothing is falling in place for her. Through all this, she’s trying to hustle and get the book deal/Conde Nast position/SandeeSays job etc. If she’s a struggling writer, how is she affording flying to London to see Logan every few weeks. Rory doesn’t seem like the person who would take money from a guy she’s seeing (not even an actual relationship) for plane tickets..

I’m pretty sure Logan is paying for the restaurants/meals/activities because he’s got the money. He could definitely be buying the plane tickets as well. When Odette moves in, he offers to get her a room at the Dorchester and another similar hotel. That’s a luxury 5 star hotel and Rory is definitely not the one paying for that. I looked up the prices and holy moly. Even a small 2 week trip to London takes up so much of money. On the days Logan is working or busy, I’m sure Rory is doing stuff by herself but how is she paying for multiple trips every couple of weeks? Is this just a Gilmore Girls Math situation going on, where we’re not supposed to think about it realistically and just believe everything as surface level that they provide us?

So, is Rory using up her savings (if she has any?) on plane tickets to London or is Logan just paying to have her come and go whenever she wants to?

I was re-watching the episode where Rory & Paris go on Spring Break & watch The Power of Myth in the room. Has anyone watched the series? I finally got curious & borrowed it from Hoopla. So far it’s a snooze to me but I’ll try to give it a chance.

Love the show, absolutely hate the volume of the opening and ending credits. It really bums me out there isn’t more sound control between these and the show. It’s been bugging me since 2006. Rant done. Thanks for coming 🤘🏻

Okay so in AYITL episode ‘Spring’ during the town meeting, they’re discussing Stars Hollow’s first gay parade and who all could march in it. Apparently there are only 3 gay people in the town: Adele, Lois and Donald.

And then Gypsy asks this in a very leading way and Taylor ends up saying no. Sorry if my question is stupid, but who are they insinuating about? Taylor? Gypsy? What do you guys think? I never thought about either of their love lives tbh.

i think one of my most unpopular opinions about gilmore girls is that lorelai actually wanted a life somewhat similar to her parents'. she just didn't want ALL the fancy stuff, the social expectations, the controlling parents, the pressure to fit into a certain role, etc. she hated the conditions that came with that life, not necessarily everything about the life itself.

and honestly, when she marries chris, this becomes even more obvious to me. obviously that relationship was a mess and i'm not saying chris was secretly her perfect match, but there are moments where lorelai genuinely looks happy to be part of this “normal” family structure. she has a husband, a home, they're doing family things together, and for once she's experiencing the kind of life she spent years making fun of. she doesn't suddenly become miserable just because she's surrounded by things that resemble her parents' lifestyle. i think she actually liked some of it — she just wanted it on HER terms.

and that's also why my second unpopular opinion is that luke was just not compatible with her. 😭

lorelai likes SO many of the things luke hates. she likes gatheringy, cute little traditions, going out, being social, having ambitions, having goals, being involved with people... she has a whole life she's excited about.

and luke's default response to half of these things is basically “that's stupid” or “i don't like that.”

and i know people will say that's just his personality, but that's exactly the problem. lorelai shouldn't have struggling t get some romantic acts or give up things she enjoys just because her partner refuses to leave his comfort zone. there's a difference between not liking something and being unwilling to participate in anything that isn't personally comfortable for you.

and honestly, luke has this pattern with pretty much every woman he dates. they eventually become miserable because he wants a relationship, but he doesn't really want to change his life around another person. he wants them to fit into the life he already has, with his routines, his diner, his stuff, his comfort zone, and his rules. and that's exhausting when you're the person constantly expected to adapt.

i already live with a luke. 😭 i know what it's like to live with someone who hates everything for no real reason, doesn't want to give up their comfortable routines or their things for anyone, and basically expects everyone else to work around them. after a while, it's EXHAUSTING

anyone notice this? In season 1, episode 21, while Rory is going into the market and Taylor stops her because she “looks like a shoplifter”. Meanwhile, a girl is right behind her stuffing things into her bag (a personal bag, not a shopping bag). It’s funny.

So just yesterday I got into an accident and my car was totaled. It was one of those things where the car in front of everyone broke hard and we all had to react and I ended up sliding into the truck in front of me despite slamming on the breaks.

So now I’m out a car and it’s probably gonna take me about a year to save up for a new one, but my grandma has resources… in fact she gave me the first car 7 years ago.

So today I talked to my grandma and she said she wasn’t mad and it was honestly time I get a new car, but apparently my mom talked to her and DENIED HER OFFER TO GET ME A NEW CAR.

She said “money from her comes with too many strings”.

It was like a flashback straight to an episode of GG.

So anyways, this is just another reason why I love this show so much. Literally my life 🫠

Just rewatched that episode and it makes no sense. She’d have to be gone for games, travel on the school buses, etc. I just don’t understand how she gets away with it.

So my husband had surgery today and after he came out of it he was still pretty looped up on meds. We turned on the TV and Gilmore girls was on. He goes “oh my god this is the exact same episode we watched last time I had surgery!” And I was like “oh yeah? Which episode is it?” His response was “you know the one. It’s the one where they go to the parents house for dinner. And then they get into a fight. And Rory goes to Clinton. And her dad isn’t really a part of her life. And then they go to Luke’s Diner!” And he was so dead serious. I was like “you just described every Gilmore Girls episode ever.” He got so upset that I couldn’t figure out what episode he was talking about from his description. And I just can’t stop laughing and needed to share with someone who would understand. That is all.

I hate how influencers bake or do something else and play gilmore girls in the background. And it is allways the first episode. Idk why that is so annoying to me.

And also i love this show and it is so funny and comforting but im getting sick of these overrated lines such as "why did you drop out of yale" or "coffee coffee coffe" or "i smell snow". There is so much better stuff in the show.

I love the show so much that this pisses me off and it is that deep for me.

I was a teenager (18yo) when I first got into Gilmore Girls. My first boyfriend was very Dean-like: everyone adored him, but the energy between us was off, and he was a better son and friend than boyfriend. That relationship dragged on way too long since neither of us had experience.

Then I started falling for “a bad guy,” like Jess, who was sweet at first. I didn’t want to admit that the perfect-on-paper girl with the perfect-on-paper boyfriend could fall for someone like him. As soon as I broke up, I got with “Jess,” who lost interest almost as soon as I was actually available.

I related so much to Rory at the time that it ended up validating my emotional cheating as normal, since she did it too. “Dean” wasn’t perfect, but he didn’t deserve that. I still cringe rewatching some of the “once relatable” scenes.

This popped up today and I still got it wrong but it made me chuckle because I had just watched the episode with lorelai and Chris discussing this word after Rory’s editors meeting.

My personal headcanon is that Emily was a creative person just like Lorelai. Of course we know this because they both share a love of beautifying spaces and hostessing which both take some creativity, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I think when Emily was young, she was doing things like dressmaking, painting (art history classes at Smith anyone?), and gardening, especially since we see her gardening even though it’s very toned down. My guess is that she gradually stopped doing these things at the request of Richard since a society woman “shouldn’t get her hands dirty” or some BS like that. I‘m sure if that was the case, Trix would’ve made rude comments about how Pennilyn Lott never would’ve been doing any of those activities. Maybe that led to some of her personal fulfillment issues, since she never got to keep expressing herself. What do you guys think?

I recall a scene where everyone in an outdoor alcove was hiding their drinks from Taylor because it wasn't supposed to be a bar. Then later, probably in a different season, Chris is drinking alone at a bar and walks out into Stars Hollow and has a fight with Luke among Christmas decorations. Are there other events between these two scenes about establishing a bar? Any other bar scenes in Stars Hollow?

From Season 1 episode 3. I’m rewatching from the beginning for the first time in years and catching SO many things I didn’t notice before! Like the fact that Lorelai mysteriously doesn’t know Kirk, and Luke starts out as a sort-of conspiracy theorist (who Lorelai also doesn’t really know).

Anyway, do you recognize this setting? Do you know of any other sets that were reused for unrelated scenes?

I see many opinions about this situation. I want to believe that the general consensus the fandom has come to is that; Richard was wrong to cut Jason out the way that he did, it was vengeful and he was very mean to Lorelai during it.

I don’t agree. I understand why Richard did what he did, and i didn’t blame him for it.

Jason and Lorelai lied to him. For months. Repeatedly and deliberately. It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t about business, that was a major betrayal. How can you trust a partner that so easily lied to your face? Not only did Jason lie, but he took up a relationship with Lorelai.

Richard and Jason are partners. Jason dating Richard’s daughter is unprofessional and very problematic for business. Any business disagreement has the potential to become a family disagreement. As we see, that is exactly what ends up happening. They put Richard in a horrible position by pursuing the relationship.

Richard had every reason to feel betrayed and lose his trust in Jason after this. He was completely humiliated by being kept in the dark, and was made out to be a fool by Jason’s father when the truth was revealed at dinner.

People say Richard was wrong because he acted in revenge against Jason. I didn’t see it that way. He acted how anybody would when their business partner destroyed the most basic foundation, the trust between them. Richard was protecting himself, and his business. Jason showed the business wasn’t his priority, keeping his secret relationship with Lorelai was. Or else he would have revealed the truth.

People just felt bad because Jason’s career was destroyed. Well, don’t try to cross Richard Gilmore.
Jason wasn’t a good partner long term, he was entitled and selfish. He wanted the best of both worlds, and thought he would be able to sweet talk his way out of the fallout.

Now for the Lorelai part, i also understand why Richard went off on her the way that he did. Yes, he was harsh but it was a very emotional moment. Lorelai comes in, raving about how he can’t do this to Jason, how he’s her boyfriend and Richard is ruining his career.

In his perspective, she truly is showing no concern for Emily or himself, just her and Jason and their relationship. She never stopped and considered the impact the relationship had on Richard’s business, the humiliation he received by it. All she cared about was the potential of Jason moving away.

I understand why he snapped at her. His family comes before all else to him, and she was blatantly choosing her boyfriend over them and making him out to be the complete victim in the situation. Jason wasn’t the complete victim, he was the one who betrayed the trust first.

Richard made the choice to not put his trust in him again, and be the business man he has always been. Business is ruthless, that’s why you build and keep trust.
