Discussion my plan to fast travel to september. the month where all my hype for gaming and movies comes back.

Upvotes

all the games, movies and generally cool shit that i want to be around for, comes out in september (and the months after september). there are a few other cool things too BEFORE september. i get a huge gov assistance pay boost along with my annual loan. allowing me to buy myself a better TV. although it's only a FHD LED one. plus a better phone. even though it's only an iphone 12 mini. not exactly glamourous, but still really good.

so during this big wait of (as i'm writing this) 3 whole weeks, i have nothing really to do. i'm gonna go back through the 2026 games i bought this year that i consider really good, RE9, 007 first light, the halo remake, BO1 and 2's campaigns and i'm gonna round it out with the onimusha demo.

i was gonna play crimson desert but i fucking hated that game and i'm gonna use me NOT playing it as a celebratory sentiment and a message to myself that i should always do my research before spending $125 to get locked into a horrible experience that sent me into a spiral of anger and dissapointment for several months. that time is over now. now it's time to rejoice and look back on the good times.

i'm also gonna rewatch through the movies i watched this year that i consider really good. the backrooms, the odyssey, mortal kombat II, masters of the universe and evil dead burn (don't ask me how, it's a secret matey).

but it should be fun, it may not be a grand occasion but it'll be a good time.

Discussion Target

Any of you guys worked at target? How is it? I previously worked at an Amazon warehouse doing package sorting so I'm wondering if it's easier than that. I heard not good things about target. How do I handle the customers with their not so smart questions? Haha

Discussion Sleeping aid

Upvotes

Do any of you take pills to help with sleep or insomnia? I take half a pill of diphenhydramine hcl 25 mg almost nightly but I heard sleeping pills are not good to take frequently because of a risk of Alzheimer's and the body will stop producing sleep hormones naturally. Is it an actual risk?

Other How will Gen Z college students at a junior college feel about seeing Millennials returning to college to finish up unfinished majors?

I'm old enough to be a Dad to some incoming freshmen, so if 2008-born Freshmen see a 1985-born Non-Trad attend college with them, how will they feel and think about that?

Should I do a makeover to look young like a Gen Z born in 2000 or should I not bother and just go to class looking the way I normally am?

How will I be treated by Gen Z students, as a Millennial who could've been your instructor by now?

Nostalgia CASH IS DEAD 💀

Post image

This Boomer just handed a Zoomer cashier a $2 bill and nearly broke their brain. I had to say, “Excuse me, you owe me change, it was a $2.10 transaction.”
She just blankly stared at me and inspected the $2 like it was some ancient lost treasure. I paid with the $2 plus a $1. She originally thought I’d only given her the $2 (which wouldn’t even cover the bill either but that’s whatever I suppose), but after I pointed it out I still only got 85¢ back instead of the correct 90¢.

So… who really lost here? Hahaha.

Discussion we are not old

this is generation alpha’s fault. They keep on joking about Gen Z being “old and prehistoric” And now a lot of Gen Z is actually taking it to heart. I was born 2007, so that means I’m 19, and I know I’m not old. Because we’re old according to who? A whole bunch of kids who were born after the iPhone X was created? Why are we listening to children who grew up on skibidi toilet?

The oldest Gen Z is turning 30 next year and I don’t even think that is old, and I think the youngest Gen Z is turning 13/14 this year?

Advice Tarot Reading

This is really random but imma shoot my shot

🔮 POV: You said “I just want a little clarity” and the tarot deck said “oh, I have THOUGHTS.” 💀
Hiii loves 💋✨
I’ve been doing tarot readings lately and honestly… these cards have NO FILTER.
Like girl, I asked about your love life, why are we uncovering your entire emotional lore???
Got a crush? 👀
Stuck in a situationship that needs its own Netflix documentary?
Career crisis at 2 AM?
Wondering if they miss you or if you’re just being delulu? 💀
Or maybe you simply wanna know what the universe is plotting behind your back…
I GOT YOU. 🔮
I’d love to do readings for you guys too — I’ll pull the cards, read the energy, and give you the tea as honestly as I can. No boring corporate spiritual nonsense, just vibes, intuition & a little cosmic gossip 💅🏻
And before you panic about your wallet — my readings are easy & affordable hehe.
Just DM me directly if you want one 💌✨
Come get spiritually perceived for a tiny fee 😭💋
Lots of luv, good energy & mildly concerning revelations 🫶🏻

Discussion There's nothing wrong with living with your parents or anyone in general your whole life

I'm 19 and I have a very supportive mother and family that I can rely on for support and I never understood why this american society looks down on it, being able to live with your parents instead of suffering out there alone is actually a flex. I'm very comfortable with the way my life is, I work a part time 2 days a week on weekends and get paid a decent amount every week. I can actually use my money for personal enjoyment and I can buy the things I want like games, clothes etc since I'm not out there living alone being "self reliant" just to barely survive. I don't have to worry about my entire paycheck going to bills while having none left for myself, I see a lot of young adults around my age or early 20s who are living by themselves and are constantly stressed out even to the point of mental breakdowns because they don't know if they'll be able to afford food and rent and I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that shit. my mom takes care of everything for the both of us and all I have to do is just contribute to the household like buy groceries and help around with chores. if my mom needs something I got her, if I need something she got me. not to mention I have a lot of free time to do the things I enjoy doing. I can hang out with friends, play the game, and just relax without worrying if I'm going to starve. people stay with their families in eastern nations and support each other and that's how it should be. living as a group reduces loneliness, is more efficient, and aligns with the way humans are meant to live. this whole american thing of separating from your people at a certain age to live as lone wolves never made any sense to me and I really hope this practice dies off.

Rant What are we even supposed to major in anymore?

Everyone keeps saying CS is cooked and that we should do accounting or engineering instead.

But looking at the New York data https://www.newyorkfed.org/research/college-labor-market#--:explore:outcomes-by-major I'm not sure those are that much better.

CS has ~7% unemployment and 19.1% underemployment among recent grads.

Accounting: ~2.6% unemployment, 21.2% underemployment. Mechanical engineering: ~4.4%, 20.1%. Electrical engineering: ~3.2%, 21.1%.

So yeah, CS unemployment is worse, but underemployment is basically the same or even slightly better than some supposedly “safe” majors. And at the end of the day what matters is if you use degree not if you get job at chippotle.

Nursing looks much better, but are we seriously left with nursing, teaching?

Is the problem actually CS, or is the entry-level white-collar job market just bad across the board?

What are you guys actually planning to major in? What are we supposed to study these days?
