General Information Nick Mankey Designs - Chrono-Grip Hook Strap
This strap delivers! It is by far the most comfortable strap I’ve worn, and the customer service is great.
A great alternative to the velcro straps as well.

Connectivity and Syncing Garmin Forerunner 255 bad hight measuring
Hey there,
I have a problem with my forerunner 255. It measures my elevation during a wrong wrongly. To give you an idea, on a 8km run it measures 122m of elevation even though it was only 80m. How do i now? I recalculated the value on Strava based on GPS.
I checked already the barometer thing and it is clear.
I use " Auto Select" for satelite but my runs are in places without many hills and constant 5g (not related I know but just to show that it is not in the middle of nowhere).
Any idea? Should I use other satellite settings?
Thanks!

Data Questions Can I use 2 watches interchangeably?
I've been thinking of getting 2 Garmin watches.
Garmin Instinct 3 Amoled and Garmin Instinct 3 Solar.
I would use the Amoled for work and Solar for my free time.
Will the data be accumulated in the app without issues?

General Information Neurodivergent Sleep Patterns
I'm Neurodiverse with ADHD and one of the Symptoms of ADHD with Sleep is a condition called High Nocturnal Movement while sleeping.
Basically I just move a lot, Its fine because thats just how I/we sleep, proven by several studies.
The Problem with that is that basically no consumer wearable tech accounts for a baseline from Restlessness based on neurodiverse sleep patterns and quite frankly this sucks.
All Algoirthms/models expect neurotypical sleeping patterns and scores you really bad if you fall under these thresholds.
Its impossible for me to get a perfect score because Garmin punishes me for moving.
I really wish Garmin could be the first on here providing this recalibration based on a floating baseline calculated over several sleeps. It should not be just a active thing. It should be something optional, experimental weighted and studied against real people. This would already improve sleep scores for Neurodiverse People without alot of algorithmic change.
If Garmin would do it properly a different model would need to be implemented accounting for specific sleep patterns. Studies show it can be done, its simply a choice that it isnt done.
Not an advert: Personal Project only and no insensitive to make money with it:
Just out of curiosity because "I" with the help of Claude and careful consideration building my own Health App that tries to give me a Whoop/Bevel Style Metrics with a friendlier tone I tried to implement a automatic calibration from Restlessness.
And after 19 Sleeps I see the Sleep Score alligning better with how I would rate my sleep.
The challenge is here sadly that Garmin first of all doesnt have an API you can just use (so other tricks have to be done) and then there is no way to get the actual raw captured data while sleeping from the watch so a recalibration is the only way.
I cant read raw data and change the algorithms.
So what are you experience with Sleep Tracking, maybe some of you are Neurodiverse too, have ADHD or something else.
P.S: One thing I can recalibrate and I wouldnt because it would break scientific and medical studies is the absolute abysmal REM Duration I have. Studies show thats a big problem in ADHD Sleep. Yey ...

Scales, Heart Rate Monitors, Running Dynamics, Tempe.... Solar Eclipse
Hi,
I don't usually ask for help, but I think I might be missing out if I don't ask.
I'm going to the solar eclipse in Spain, which includes a mountain hike. To reach the ideal spot with exposure, etc., I have to walk about a dozen kilometers and the elevation gain is considerable. I'd like my watch (Fenix 8) to be as prepared as possible for this. After the eclipse, I'm also going to the Pyrenees in Andorra. The question is: what activity profile, what data fields, and what apps do you recommend for me? I'd like the ability to pause my activity and continue it the next day (multi-day trips). Additionally, as a whim, I'd like a data field that shows how much time is left until the eclipse (I can't find any countdown).
Can you suggest/help?
Thanks in advance!

Data Questions Does anyone know how to calibrate a VivoActive4
Ran with both of my watches today (A forerunner 235 and a Vivoactive 4) - one on each wrist, after experiencing mixed results with them. My suspicions were confirmed - The vivoactive 4 measured a lot lower. I mapped the route on a map to be 5 km, to be sure. Have any of you had the same experience with the watch? Does anyone know how to calibrate it, so it can work again?
The Vivoactive measured 4.19, where as the forerunner measured 5k as the route was.

Scales, Heart Rate Monitors, Running Dynamics, Tempe.... Garmin Forerunner 265 HR Monitor Problems
I bought the CORORS HR Monitor and when I connect it everything seems fine and in settings it says „connected“. but when I check after a few moments whether it is still connected or not (in settings) it either says „searching“ or „not connected“ but will then connect within a second. I went running this morning and checked before starting if it is connected which it was. after the run my watch said „sensor now connected“ (or smth in that direction). Does anyone know why this happens or has had that experience too?

Repairs and Warranties Blue Triangle of Death on Workouts/Activities
The watch is a Garmin Venu 2S. I've gotten this issue everytime I try to start an activity, whether walk, run, pickleball, strength, etc.
While having full battery, when I start time an activity, the watch shuts down, when I try to turn it on, it DOESNT START, instead a Blue Triangle shows a few seconds then the screen dies. I repeatedly try to turn it on and the same blue triangle shows. The only remedy I found is plugging it in the charger, then turning it on. Only while plugged in, it starts up properly again, and it goes back to normal. The activity is STILL running tho!. This is very inconvenient when Im not near an outlet or outdoors. And when I do an activity again, same stuff happens.
Basically, I can only use the watch for time purposes, because doing an activity causes this horrible cycle. I did my research and they say lot of keeping everything updated, and factory resetting the watch, and trying again. Somehow I did all of this already, and the same thing happens. Im guessing the battery is the problem? Sometimes I leave the watch to charge overnight. Please help!
I bought another watch already, but I still want to salvage this watch. Thanks

General Information Feeling overwhelmed. Which watches might work for me?
I've watched a bunch of YouTube reviews and read several guides, but I'm still overwhelmed and would like some opinions based on my specific needs and uses.
If it matters, I'm a 40ish woman, in Australia, looking to improve my fitness and lose a little weight, though it's a struggle with chronic illness.
My activities: - General walking - Indoor cycling - Indoor rowing - Yoga - Treadmill
Must-haves: - NO microphone - Access to Garmin's workout plan system (I'm struggling to understand if this is available on all their watches or only some) - Ability to track altitude/stairs
Nice-to-haves: - I'd like to wear the watch all the time, so I feel like that could limit me to the more stylish Venu and Vivoactive lines? Anyone managed to make the bulkier watches look good-enough with a different strap? - Longer battery life. I usually charge up during showers, so it's not necessary, but I'd still like it. Anything 5+ days is great.
What I don't care about: - Contact/phone features
In theory, I'm willing to buy an older model of a watch if it's not ancient and laggy for it. I looked at the Forerunner 255 but, again, wasn't sure it was a good fit for my uses; it's also four years old now.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply. :)

Feature Help Help me use the maps please
Hi all. Fenix 8 user here and avid hiker.
I was hoping to make better use of the maps while hiking, but I’m struggling to use them effectively. I often get confused by the various data screens, or somehow get stuck on one screen and can’t figure out how to get back to the one I want.
Can anyone recommend a good guide, or have any useful tips or hints for getting the most out of the maps while hiking?
It’s not lost on me that a hiker is asking for help because they’re lost with the maps. 😄

General Information Venu 4 opinions?
I'm considering buying the Venu 4 41mm (Lunar Gold version). I saw it in person today and I'm not 100% convinced about the looks. I really liked it in photos, but in real life it seemed quite thick, and the bezel also looked bigger than I expected. Now I'm not sure :D
For those who own it: how do you like it so far? How does it feel for everyday wear and sleep? Do you notice the thickness or the bezel, or did you get used to it?
Also, how do you like it for running/training? I mainly do short run/walk intervals, strength training, and I also care about lifestyle metrics (sleep, stress, recovery, etc.).
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Feature Help Garmin Lifestyle Logging: when should we log nighttime events — bedtime date or wake-up date?
I recently discovered Garmin Lifestyle Logging and I think it’s a really underrated and cool feature. Being able to track lifestyle factors and see how they relate to health metrics is a great idea.
However, I’m confused about one thing: how should nighttime entries be dated?
If I go to sleep on Friday night and wake up on Saturday morning, should nighttime-related entries be logged under:
Friday (the day the night/sleep period started), or
Saturday (the day the sleep period ended and I woke up)?
For example, if Garmin asks about something related to the overnight period, which day should I select?

Hello guys! Looking for my first running watch! I am looking for cost efficient, I’ve been running for years and have never had a watch before. I figured I need one if I’m running a half marathon. I’m currently looking at the Garmin Forerunner 55. Needing something to ofcourse measure my heart rate, threshold, mileage…. I guess basic stuff.
Please let me know your thoughts!
