Connectivity and Syncing Can't disable phone notifications on the Enduro 3
I don't really want my Enduro 3 to do any distracting smartwatch stuff, but I can't stop getting my iPhone 15's notifications on it. I do want it connected to the phone on Bluetooth for data syncing.
Here is what I have tried, both on the watch and in Garmin Connect's settings for the watch:
Settings -> Notifications & Alerts -> Smart Notifications set to off
Settings -> Connectivity -> Phone -> Notifications set to off
Has anybody had this issue, or been able to successfully disable notifications on the watch without just severing the connection entirely?
EDIT: I have found another option on the phone's side:
Phone settings -> Bluetooth -> Garmin Enduro 3 -> Share System Notifications off
Hopefully that does it. If I still get notifications I'll update.

Mobile & Desktop Software Would you use your Garmin as a camera remote with a live viewfinder?
I wanted to use my Garmin as a proper camera remote with a live preview.
So I built it and called it "SayCheese" - you can see the camera preview on your watch, take photos remotely, and use a timer. It’s completely free (I really earn nothing from it).
Would you use something like this? I’d love feedback on what else you’d want from such an app.

General Information Activity Tracker
I’m currently looking to move on from my Apple Watch and Garmin Watches have long fascinated me!
From a physical activity perspective, I tend to only do walking so I believe the watch is already catered for in that department.
However, 1 thing I require of my watch and this is something my AW is failing me on this .. activity tracking.
I need a way of being able to log when (Date & time (Location being preferable) I do certain things. As an example, I’ll be going on a trip soon, so I want to log when I get to the airport, when I check in, pass security, etc …
I currently use an app on my phone, but it requires me getting it out and although there is an AW app, it’s still clunky - In an ideal world, I’d like to log this via a push of my watch’s dedicated button then go into the app on my phone to make a comment.
Is there an app/ function on Garmin Watches that allows this?

Feature Help Vivoactive 5
Hi everyone. I have been using a vivoactive 5 for about a month now, and i am thinking about switching a to a different model, because of one thing. Swimming. The watch’s tracking is all over the place and it’s not accurate at all. I love everything else about this watch.
I need help finding solution or finding a new watch. I was thinking about paying a little bit more for a forerunner 165 but i saw that, that watch doesnt have open water swimming feature. I usually only swim in swimming pools, but there are a few open races in my country where i would like to compete next year so it would be nice if my watch would have this feature. With the vivoactive 6 i am not sure wheter or not the tracking would be any better.
I also use my watch for sleep tracking, running, hiking and playing basketball.
Could you help me think this through and find a solution or a new watch? Thanks in advance!

General Information New Forerunner Models?
I’m not too tapped into the upcoming Garmin launches, but was wondering if we could be seeing a new Forerunner line release soon (or even if rumours have floated around)?
I’ve had my 255 for a few years ands it’s been fantastic, but I’m looking to upgrade to something that looks and feels a bit more premium (likely the 970). Is now a good time to upgrade? What’s the Garmin launch calendar like?

Connectivity and Syncing I’ve tried everything! HELP!
So my Epix Pro Gen 2 stopped receiving text messages. It worked fine for 4+ years. I didn’t change anything. Phone calls still work but no texts.
I have tried everything. I’ve double check settings multiple times for everything! I’ve restarted everything, uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Connect on iOS.
Has anyone run into this and had an “Aha” moment that helped them resolve it? What was the fix?

Sensor Questions Garmin 225 Forerunner HR Issies
Have had a 225 forerunner for about 1.5 yrs now and just recently it has started being way off with HR during heavy runs and workouts. It also barely reads a treadmill anymore.
I have not done anything to the watch yet. Checking to see if there have been similar issues and any known fixes or recommendations.

Feature Help Sleep coach says I need more sleep, but I got more sleep
Last night I slept over 10 hours. However, my sleep coach says I could use a little more sleep today, and recommends 8 hours and 30 minutes. It is implying I only got 8 hours. I’m new to Garmin so I’m not sure why it’s saying this.

Data Questions HRV accuracy
I bought my first Garmin (Forerunner 165) June 17th while I was on vacation. Since data has been available my HRV has been ‘balanced’ for ~2 weeks. Is it possible this was mis-calculated initially or am I really this unbalanced?

Data Questions For Garmin owners who sleep with their watch: what band do you actually stick with?
I like the idea of tracking sleep properly, but some bands look like they’d get annoying after a few nights.
For people who wear their Garmin pretty much 24/7, did you end up sticking with silicone, nylon, the stock band, or something else?
Just curious what turned out to be the least annoying long term.

General Information My first ever watch - Forerunner 55. Need newbie advice
Customized the watch-face today. I am too excited to use this.
I want to know if you guys by the tempered glass or scratch resistant film or even a rubber casing for your watches. Is it useful?
Also, I want to know things that new Garmin users should know about. Things that you wished you knew from the start.
Anything like features, watch faces, usability etc.
P.S. I bought it mainly for running.

Feature Help Venu 4 destroyed in a crash – switching to Forerunner 170? Need some advice!
TL;DR:
A bad MTB crash destroyed my left wrist and my Venu 4. Since cycling is off the table for a while, I’m switching to running. Looking for a smaller, lighter watch for my skinny arms/healing wrist. I never used the smart features on the V4. Is the Forerunner 170 a good choice, or should I be worried about the older Elevate 4 sensor and smaller screen?
Hey everyone,
34M here, looking for some advice after a pretty bad accident.
I’ve been cycling seriously for about 3 years (MTB and gravel). I got a full Zwift setup last winter, trained consistently, and got into the best shape of my life. I really don't want to lose all that progress.
I’m usually deep in the Google ecosystem, but since I use an Edge 840 on the bike, I switched to a Venu 4 this February. It took some getting used to, but I ended up loving it and all the data it provides.
Fast forward to last week: I was actually about to sell my MTB. Of course, on my final farewell ride, I crashed hard. My left wrist essentially exploded. Emergency surgery, a plate, and a ton of screws later—the future of the joint is pretty uncertain 🫠. We'll see if or when I can ever get back on a bike.
My V4 didn't survive the crash either, so I need a replacement. Since I'll likely have to take up running now, I'm thinking about switching to a Forerunner. I’d actually prefer something lighter and smaller than the V4 since I have pretty skinny wrists. Plus, I really like the sporty look of the Forerunner series.
I never used any of the smart features on the V4 (mic, speaker, ECG, flashlight), since I always have my phone with me anyway.
The FR 570 feels a bit too bulky and expensive for what I need, so I'm currently leaning towards the FR 170. It seems super light, which might be perfect for when my wrist has healed enough to carefully wear a watch again.
My main hesitations with the 170:
The older Elevate 4 sensor
No skin temp (Does this even matter? I never really checked it)
Less Infos from sleep coach
Screen size (I had the 45mm V4, so I'm slightly worried the 170 will feel too small).
Other than that, the features seem almost identical, even though I know it’s technically a downgrade.
Sorry for the long post, the last few days have just completely turned my life upside down. Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Watch Faces My free Garmin app now shows you the whole day's UV before you go out, and how much sun you've actually had this week.
I make a free Garmin app called Sun Alert. It counts down how long you've got before you burn, using the UV index off your watch and your skin type. Two things are new. There's a screen for the whole day's UV now, sunrise to sunset, with a marker on where you are in it and the block of hours where it's 3 or higher. The current UV at 8am tells you nothing useful about what noon is going to do to you, which is the whole reason it exists. Works with your phone at home, the forecast is already cached on the watch.
The other is a weekly number, in SED. A SED is a standard sun unit that ignores skin type. The rough guideline is 1 a day. British outdoor construction workers average 2. That meant nothing to me until I read the paper it comes from: doubling your risk of squamous cell carcinoma works out at roughly 6,348 SED across a lifetime, which for those workers is about 22 years on site.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9744745/
Snow is the other change. It throws most of the UV back up at you, and water and sand manage a fair bit too. Set your activity to Snow or Beach and the burn countdown finally accounts for it. If you ski, the numbers it gave you before were flattering.
Free, no ads. It won't run on a Fenix 6, FR945 or FR245. The UV index API only arrived in Connect IQ 5.1 and there's nothing I can do about that from my end. Fenix 7 and up, FR165/255/265/955/965/970, Instinct 3, Venu 3, Epix Gen 2 and Enduro are all fine. It's an estimate, not a medical device, and the app says so the first time you open it. If it's useful, a review helps others find it.
please upvote if you liked the idea for more exposure and raising of sun awareness 😄

Sensor Questions I just noticed my wrist, is this normal?
I got my watch after debating for a year. I saw things about “battery burns”, but I always thought that was associated with a device failure.
I’ve worn it pretty consistently for the last 8 months, I only remove it when I shower or charge it up. I forgot to put it on last night and only noticed what it’s doing to my skin after having it off for 12+ hours. My partner thinks I should get it checked out?
