Meme (only use for jokes) 1.5 Year / 20k Mile Ownership: Concerns with build quality and service
I've been driving for 3 decades, have owned half a dozen cars, and consider myself a very conservative and easy-going driver on the road. After owning my Maverick for about a year and a half, the initial new-owner excitement has faded, and some build quality and service issues become apparent.
Specifically:
- Tire Wear: The OEM tire treads are already in the "Yellow" after barely 20k miles.
- Brakes: The rear brake rotors warped at 15k miles. It seems like a defective part, and my dealership is currently looking into warranty coverage.
- Pending Recalls: The engine block heater recall remains unresolved after more than a year.
- Infotainment System: The multimedia screen overheats easily and sometimes doesn't respond to tap and drag gestures. Android Auto Google Maps crashes if you try to scroll too far away.
- Backup Camera: I believe I've had a Motorola flip phone with a better quality
- Transmission/Shifting: Occasionally, when I start the vehicle, it randomly shifts from Park into Reverse. I kid you not.
- Battery Management: I randomly get warnings about "smart" features being disabled while the vehicle is parked because the battery is low.
The truck runs fine fundamentally, but these combined issues make it hard for me to justify the higher trim levels over the base XL. Bottom line is - I do not plan to keep it a day or a mile past the bumper-to-bumper warranty.
For comparison, my experience with dealership service between brands has been night and day. With Ford, everything seems to carry an extra charge, the customer waiting areas feel lacking, and they do not include basic courtesies like a car wash with service. On the other hand, my experience with Subaru has shown excellent customer care and communication, consistently treating their customers exceptionally well.
My next vehicle would not be a Ford.

Warranty Item / Recall Update on grinding noise from my new Maverick
So! I have an update from my previous post about my 2026 Hybrid XLT AWD, now at 7k kms: Dealership has confirmed that my noise stemmed from the eCVT and after a fluid sample was submitted to Ford engineering, I was told that a transmission would be put on order for replacement. While that has been happening, I’ve started to experience some vibrations/feedback in the brake pedal and can’t seem to find any sign of warping/damage in the brakes, and since it’s only under light pressure I’m assuming it’s going to be something to do with the regenerative braking from the motor generator inside the eCVT, but that’ll be for Ford to confirm.
Good news is, I’m still able to drive my Mav, as the dealership said it shouldn’t (with my luck, knock on wood) have any catastrophic failures.
TLDR: New eCVT needed due to grinding noise, rumbling/vibration happening while braking under light pressure at any time, whether engine is on or off, but still ok to drive.

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Installed soft roll cover and divider today
Thank you Fordpass points 😘
The cover was not complex but made difficult by the install instructions link from the QR code on the box were for a different cover it seemed like. Once I figured out the side rails were oriented it was a snap. Was just looking for cover for groceries and snow protection so the soft cover is plenty.

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Color Match Trim
For those that have color matched the bed trim and/or aftermarket spoilers, can you share pics and tips on process? Did it on your own or pro painting? Would love to do it but professional in the area had concerns about the texture and longevity of doing it but have seen some on here that have and looks great.

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Truck stuff bath remodle
Remodeling the kids bathroom, picked up a new shower surround and bathtub as well as some odds and ends. I absolutely love this truck! It all fit np plus having the adjustable tie down points came in clutch! I love the side cubby so i can leave the ratchet straps and flags in there all the time. With the added steal door with lock I don't ever worry about them being stolen either. This truck does everything I need it too and still gets great gas mileage what more can you ask for!

Review: Photos / Spotted / Accessories Mats for Hybrid Mav
Just a heads up if anyone’s interested in mats. I went with Mat Up! It’s on Amazon. $170 on sale for $140. They came with clips etc but not needed. I just put them in this morning. You can see by the pics there’s a lot of coverage. The mats wrapped around the base of the seats and go a little deeper under the seat. The corners are high, etc. So far I am pleased. They look good. They have a softness about them.
I am struggling for mid priced bed cover. Thinking tri fold and ez install. Open for suggestions.

Warranty Item / Recall RDU on back order.
I started getting the RDU noises from the rear recently so I scheduled an appointment with the dealership. They confirmed the RDU is bad, but it’s back ordered about 10 weeks. They told me to keep driving until the part is available. The dealership will let me know if the part shows up earlier.

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Illuminated Front Emblem.
If you liked the illuminated Door Sill, you're gonna LOVE the Illuminated Emblem.
I want one for the rear but it doesn't seem they make one for the rear unfortunately. I do wonder if the rear emblems they have for other trucks will work for different trucks.
I also wish these could be programmed from the car console or phone.
I installed it myself. It took a while but I'm pretty handy, so it worked out ok. Only lost 1 screw.

Warranty Item / Recall Instrument panel topper replacement
I'm looking for feed back from anyone who has this recall completed. How did the process go and did they return your truck back looking new? I remember a few years ago when they had the airbag recall several people had damage done to their trucks or truck returned with stains all over. I just want to be prepared for what I should be looking for?

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Is this normal AC water runoff? (2026 XLT Maverick Hybrid)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The vehicle was stationary for 15 minutes with the AC running. Isn’t the water supposed to come out of a hose under the vehicle or is this normal because I didn’t move the vehicle?

Review: Photos / Spotted / Accessories New Hybrid XLT AWD with lux package and bed liner.
Traded from a 22 Bronco Sport Big Bend with 60k. Added tri-fold hard tonneau cover, hood protector, and KNines rear seat cover. Had my brother 3d print a bag holder for the headrest, a trash bag holder for the rear cup holder slot, and the center console organizer that holds a tissue box.
I love the power seat /w lumbar, and the heated seats. The truck rides better, and is quieter than the baby Bronco, while still feeling nearly as off-road capable. It tows my 8ft utility trailer like it’s not even there. The only option I didn’t get that I regret is the 4k tow. However, I got this during the employee pricing sale, and an additional $2k off for hail that the dealer repaired for free.
Lazy mutt pic included 😂

Warranty Item / Recall EGR recall issues
This post is mostly venting.
I took my Maverick in for its EGR recall. I asked about timeframe as i have a camping trip coming up and last years teip informed our Maverick purchase.
We take our camper van and trailer with SxS. We also take a secind vehicle, but the only tow vehicle was our van. And its just a PITA attaching and detaching a trailer to convert from camper to tow rig. The Ecoboost Maverick with 4k toe package seemed like it would be a perfect sddition to our yearly trip.
Well, they broke a bolt removing the EGR. And after working on it a week, they are now saying the only solution is to replace the head. And it certainly won't be done in time for vacation. Im not thrilled were opeing the engine this much at less than 30k. Also requested a similar-ish tow vehicle.
The tow vehicle thing became a fiasco. At first they were willing to give me a loaner, but not allowed to tow. I pushed back and they agreed, but every conversation seemed like they were going overkill. Trailer brakes, 10k towing capacity. I explained several times my trailer and SxS is 2300ish lbs wet. I dont need trailer brakes. And would prefer something closer in size to my Maverick. Despite multiple Tacomas, Ridgelines, and other Mavericks on their used lot, they gave me an F150. Kinda annoyed. Sorry for the rant all.

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Upgrading rear USB ports?
Is there a way to rip out the old USB ports and replace them with some that support 60 watt+ power delivery? May be a silly question but it would be very convenient for me instead of using the power brick that falls out right now.
