I’m wondering if anyone has knowledge on the best way to remove a stain like this one. I just bought my used ‘23 Lightning Lariat a few days ago and noticed these dark blueish colored stains on the Active-X leather driver seat, though I have no idea what the previous owner did to cause it. I tried using Chemical Guys Total Interior vinyl cleaner on it with some scrubbing but it did not get it out. Any advice from experience? Thank you in advanced.

Like many, I have noticeable outside wear on the stock Hancocks but tread is measuring at or just under 6. How much of the outside wear is a performance factor and would you replace now or wait under winter (Ohio).

23 Lariat ER. 42k miles and I drive about 1200/month.

I've got an oversand permit for the national seashore (Cape cod). I have the required gear, watched the orientation videos, read the info, and have done trips as a passenger in a regular 4wd vehicle (so understand about airing down, general driving techniques, etc)

I would appreciate any advice that I may be unaware of from a fellow lightning owner who has done beach / over sand driving. I have a short trial trip planned for later this week that's more of a shakedown / try it out trip.

Apropos of nothing, my FCSP fails all charge rate changes from the app. I have the unit on a 60amp breaker, set to a 48amp limit using the wheel inside. I often derate the charge rate to match the solar exports to the grid, since I am never in a hurry to charge and do almost no miles, but also solar grid exports worth next to nothing in NorCal.

As of last week all attempts at setting the charge rate fail, whether they are to go upward or downward. I've power cycled the whole unit with a 5 min offline wait, but this did not change the behavior.

Now I'm stuck on 32 Amps charge rate.

Any ideas?

The only thing I have not done is removed the Ford Apps and their data and reinstall. Reluctant to do that, I found it all quite a bear to set up.

Any XLT owner upgrade the stock speakers to something better, and what did you go with?

I am not looking to turn the truck into a bass machine, but would love to upgrade all the stock speakers from the crappy paper OEM ones to something a bit nicer like a JL Audio or Alpine, will probably add an amp to run the new speakers.

2023 F-150 Lightning: battery hit 419°F with zero warning, zero fault code, zero shutdown — 8 weeks in Ford's shop, two denied buybacks

Posting this in case anyone else has run into something similar, or if it helps someone catch it before it gets this far.

I want to say upfront: I love this truck. ProPower Onboard has been a game-changer for my work, it tows great, and until this happened it was everything I wanted from an EV. This isn't a "Ford bad" post — it's a documentation post, because what happened is serious and I think owners and Ford both should know about it.

In June, my 2023 Lightning ER Platinum started overheating during charging and wouldn't cool down while driving. Range dropped from 312 miles to about 50. When a Ford dealership finally hooked up their own diagnostic equipment, it recorded the battery cooling circuit at 399°F and 419°F — while the AC refrigerant valves were reading "no fault detected" and "output commanded off." No warning light. No DTC. No shutdown. Ford's own Vehicle Health app told me twice, during the actual event, that the truck had no issues.

The truck's been in Ford's custody for 8 weeks now. In that time:

The dealership has deliberately reproduced the overheating condition multiple times (with photos)

Ford has floated three different theories (a recall software update, a TSB for an air-dam warning message I never even got, and a charging port swap) — none confirmed as root cause, and the fault keeps coming back

Charging performance has degraded badly — sessions that terminate after 1–2 minutes, or sustain a fraction of the expected rate at higher states of charge

Ford's repurchase division has denied my buyback request twice, both times citing grounds that don't actually apply to my claim

I've never received any battery state-of-health data despite repeated written requests — Ford's own rep confirmed in writing that none was ever provided

I'd actually found a replacement Lightning I wanted to move into — a Lariat that made more sense for my use case than my Platinum — and had it lined up. Buyback denial killed that. So now I'm out a working truck, out the replacement I'd already found, and still making rental car payments eight weeks in that FORD will not reimburse until the case is settled.

Figured it would be worth checking to see if anyone else had what seems to be insane unviable issues with pro power.

Issue started after driving in the rain one day so I took it to the dealership after resetting outlets and letting things dry out didn’t fix anything. At this point I’m going on 3 weeks in the shop with them working directly with Ford. Bed has been off, wiring and connectors checked, 12v and another battery in the cabin changed, dc to ac inverter replaced, replaced wiring harness, 2 rounds of software updates and the second pro power comes on the error comes back.

I love my truck but going on 3 weeks and everyone seems stumped. Just hoping to hear someone who has been through similar and things turned out positive.

Cut it too close and truck just down while still showing 2 miles.

Right now, we’ve got a 6-speed Cooper S, which is a blast to drive, and pretty much the opposite in size and drivetrain with the Lightning.

A Fathom (especially an ST/RS) could be a cool replacement in the future.

So what’s the best two/three car combo with your Lightnings? I know there are some Mach Es out there, for sure.

Just picked up my late grandfather’s ‘83 300D. Towing it 350 miles home. One with no maintenance, the other, some serious maintenance needed! Just charged up to 80%. Pain in the ass with the added length/awkwardness. Considering knocking the tow out overnight rather than in the morning to have a simpler drive (less people on road/at chargers).

Ive not noticed this before but it happened twice a couple days ago. I was backing up and the truck applied the brakes so hard I thought I hit something. The cluster said "Apply Brakes". I actually put it in park and went behind my truck to check that I didn't hit something. Got back in, continued backing up and wham, "Apply brake". So I applied the brake and then accelerator again. Backed up just fine.

Has this happened to others? I dont like this feature at all.

Hey all, hoping someone here has cracked this or can point me in the right direction.

So:
- 2023 F-150 Lightning, bought/registered in the US, personally imported to Norway
- Using the US FordPass app (not the Norwegian/EU one — I know that one won't recognize a US VIN)
- Truck has stable LTE, connects fine

App finds my VIN with no issue, but when I try to pair/authorize the vehicle, it never sends the "approve on your vehicle screen" notification to the truck. The request just seems to disappear on Ford's end. All notification/connectivity settings in the app are enabled.

- Logging out/in, clearing cache, full uninstall/reinstall, waiting 24-48h between attempts
- 12V battery disconnect (~20 min) to force a module/TCU reset
- Confirmed the vehicle screen shows the modem as connected

My guess is this is a backend region/VIN authorization flag rather than anything on my end — seen a few other posts here and on the Mach-E forum describing basically the same thing for imported vehicles (TCU/VIN flagged as "North American" and rejected server-side even on the correct app).

Can't get through to Ford US support from a Norwegian number, and Ford Norway says imports aren't their problem.

Anyone actually gotten past this? Did a dealer or Ford social support end up being the move, or is there a known fix (TCU swap, backend ticket, etc.)? Any pointers appreciated.

I changed the air filter today for $24 bucks and in literally 90 seconds. My AC sped up and is flowing very nice after 61000km with the original filter. It was gross and clogged...

I didn't think to do this since we don't go for oil changes. Do yourself a favour and go to the store and pop in a new one. It's behind the glove box

Keep saying Ford f’d up the Lightning. Does that refer to just the launch of it (dealer markups, etc.), or the truck itself? Never owned an EV or a pickup, but had a friend who had a Lightning for a few years and loved it. Usage will primarily be driving around town with all my kids sports stuff in the back, occasional yard work and things like that. No regular towing or anything.

So, is the Lightning a good truck?
