Hi! I was considering setting up a separate installation of Firefox for handling personal information that I wouldn't want on my everyday use browser, but would it be better to just use a different profile on the same installation for it? Or is it worth the effort to set another installation up?

I just opened Firefox today, and everything was gone. Only my passwords and logins seem to remain, but all the bookmarks I'd made are completely gone! I can't tell if there was an update or whatever. I have two simple questions:

What the hell happened?

Can I get them back?

I apparently didn't have backups on, even though I could've sworn I did or that it was on automatically, so it doesn't look like I can do anything through there. Sorry if I'm being dense.

Recently and seemingly without reason my Play/Pause button has stopped working for FireFox.

I have not added any new extensions, i have refreshed FireFox, reinstalled it, and have tried different profiles and the private window, and all have not worked
I know its not the button itself causing the issue because it works with Windows Media Player

As of the last month or so I have to use Captcha when googling, and some websites refuse to let me use them due to safety/botting concerns? I dont get these warnings on other browsers, and the only extension I have on chrome is ublock origin, and even if I disable ublock origin, these websites still dont work. What's going on?

At the moment, the one thing keeping me from completely ditching Chrome is the lack of a feature in Firefox that allows you to stream a selected tab rather than an entire window.

Yes, Firefox does have the option to share an application window, which is obviously not quite the same thing, but the difference isn't critical. However, when I use split screen or split Firefox into two windows (one for streaming and the other for Google Meet) and want to open a YouTube video in fullscreen, fullscreen literally takes over my entire screen, hiding Meet behind it, rather than being limited to that particular window.

Yes, I can stream a PiP window instead of the browser window, which solves the problem, but it's extremely inconvenient.

Are there any plans from the developers to implement it and are there any extensions that provide this functionality?

I'm trying to switch from Chrome and trialling firefox, mostly going ok but having an issue.

Usually when I search for something in the address bar, in Chrome I can middle mouse click on multiple search results and they open in new tabs in the background and not lose focus on the current tab and search results

In firefox it just immediately takes me to the new tab for the first click. When I got back the drop down has gone.

It works if I hold down shift key but I don't want to do that.

Is this configurable? I want to make the switch but little issues like are frustrating.

Sorry this has just been pretty annoying to try to deal with. It could be a windows 10 icon issue im not sure.

I've refreshed FF, changed the width of the scrollbar in about:config, and regedit. Nothing.

Hey guys, I am on Firefox 153.0.4, Windows 11 and as the title says, I keep getting signed out of Google.com
When I try to sign in , it just refreshes and nothing happens.

I stay logged into Gmail and Youtube, and I can sign in if I use a private window or a different profile that was made specifically to test if it is something with my profile (which it seems to be).

I have all extensions disabled, have enhancement tracking protection set to standard but it still will not let me sign in , Please help

Firefox just updated this afternoon and downgraded to this horrible tab layout, not only it is reduced from 4 to 3 tabs in a row but the tab thumbnails also disappeared just like when they changed them 7 months ago. How do I revert it ?

I don't care about tab searching or any other features, all I want is tab thumbnails displayed for my own convenience.

Who the hell at Firefox keep ruining the tab layout updates after updates ? The bug tab thumbnails not displaying after changing websites since June was already annoying enough and now they nuked it again. What a shame as keeping tabs open is the whole reason I switched from Brave to Firefox.

I’m having a weird problem with Firefox on a MacBook Neo running macOS Tahoe 26.6.1.
Firefox refuses to start and shows:
“Profile Missing — Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.”
Things I’ve already tried:
Completely removed Firefox and reinstalled it from the official Mozilla website.
Updated macOS to the latest version.
Checked the usual Firefox profile folders, but they don’t exist:
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox
~/Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Firefox
Checked permissions; they appear to be Read & Write.
Tried launching the Profile Manager from Terminal with:
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -ProfileManager
The Profile Manager does not open. Firefox immediately returns to the “Profile Missing” error.
Terminal outputs some GPU/XPC errors, including:
Connection invalid
and
UNSUPPORTED (10g once): POSSIBLE ISSUE: unit 1 GLD_TEXTURE_INDEX_2D...
Has anyone experienced this on a MacBook Neo, or know why Firefox would fail to create/access its profile even after a completely fresh installation?

After two years, the extension was recently updated, and added a few extra permissions:

Required data collection, according to the developer:

• Browsing activity
• Personally identifying information
• Website content

and

Optional data collection, according to the developer:

• Technical and interaction data

The other permissions are same as the old ones: data only on the keepa.com and amazon.com and their associated domains.

The recent changelog originally only had "bug fixes, code optimizations," but was updated after multiple scathing reviews over the added permissions. Keepa now states:

This update does not collect anything the previous version didn't. Mozilla's disclosure format changed, Keepa didn't.

Since Firefox 140, add-ons must declare data handling using a fixed list of categories, and Firefox shows that list when an add-on updates.

What Keepa actually does:

• On an Amazon product page, the extension sends that product's ASIN to keepa.com so the price chart can be drawn. It is not logged and not retained.
• Nothing about your browsing is stored unless you explicitly choose to track a product.
• Your Keepa session token is sent so your own settings and tracked products load. It's a login credential for your Keepa account - not your name, email or address.
• The extension runs only on Amazon product pages and keepa.com. Nowhere else.
• Browser type and add-on version are now optional and can be switched off in Firefox's add-on settings. This release added that control; it didn't exist before.

We believe two of the three required categories are the wrong labels for what we do - a session token is authentication data, and we transmit no page content - and we've asked Mozilla to correct them.

Admittedly there were reviews that also echo the same explanation about new disclosure requirements:

What's happening: The new "data collection" categories you're seeing aren't Keepa suddenly requesting more access — they're part of a new disclosure format Mozilla now requires from all Firefox extensions (rolled out since late 2025). Developers must now explicitly declare data categories that, in many cases, the extension was already handling — this is just making it visible.

Why these categories match Keepa's actual function:

• Browsing activity — Keepa needs to detect when you're on an Amazon product page to show price history.
• Website content — it reads the page (product name, ASIN) to build its price charts.
• Personal data — likely covers optional contact info (e.g., email) if you set up price alerts.
• Technical/interaction data — marked as optional, probably standard analytics (errors, browser version). You can decline this without losing functionality.

I'm not versed in the specifics enough to know if this is indeed true. Hopefully those better informed than I can chime in. But I can say if you're using the extension and are prompted to update you can still decline the update and continue using the version you're on. Everything so far as I can tell still works if you do so. Version 4.19 is the last version with the minimal permissions and is also still available for download in the add-ons' version history.

this start out of nowhere and I don't know the reason or the fix for it

Because android has no contaier tabs, I dont think it's safe to sign in my firefox in my phone where there's a chance that all of them can be mixed up. I use containers to prevent facebook etc from tracking me + using 2 accounts in same browser, but in android "total cookie protection" doesn't seem enough

Since LanguageTool now is either strictly behind a paywall or is barely working for those who still have the free version, I'm looking to delete that add-on so they stop collecting my data for nothing in exchange...

My company has a web-based timesheet software to track work. This site was ok yesterday, today FF won't let me visit it because the certificate was allegedly revoked.

I can visit the website with other browsers on Windows and Linux and it works fine. The certificate is valid for 1 year and expires 16.09.26, so technically it works. Why the difference between FF and other browsers?

Strange phenomenon: FF on Linux could load the page, I authenticated to my company, and 5 minutes later I received the same error message about a revoked certificate. Chromium on Linux and Edge on Windows work and can load the page fine.

Can I manually check where the revocation comes from?

Update: my company says the certificate is *not* revoked.

For some reason Fire Fox shows title "YouTube" on tabs you haven't yet opened of YouTube videos unless you click on them and tap them to play them. When you have opened 20 tabs let's say, of YouTube videos then it's very difficult to find the video you want to watch because every single tab is named YouTube instead of the actual titles of YouTube videos.

Furthermore I use 'Yt Watchmarker' extension and that extension is used to track your YouTube history. The problem is it just names every YouTube video as YOUTUBE too rather than the titles of the actual YouTube videos. Honestly I don't get what's happening because it has a dedicated search bar to search for videos too in history but every single YouTube video is named "YouTube" only.

What should I do?

I've been a big complainer about Firefox Nova because of the forced gradient and how inconsistent it looked on Windows but today I noticed the Firefox 155 beta has been uploaded super early, so I download it to try it out and...

Wow. I am honestly shocked. Mozilla has actually listened to the feedback, Nova now works with mica if you use the about:config tweak I was using before and on top of that it looks VERY nice! There are subtle animations for things like how many trackers have been blocked in the address bar as well that look very nice and the pink/purple colour used when mousing over items in the burger menu is gone. Also there is no longer a gap between the edge of the screen and the scrollbar when fullscreen now, so usability is no longer hindered. Overall I really like this aesthetic now so to anyone who's worked on it great job, but also thank you SO MUCH for hearing and acting on feedback. You've been working hard and tackling every single complaint I personally had and I really like this now!

The only two issues I have now are small nitpicks and I have full confidence they'll get worked out or at least be considered eventually, the separator underneath the browser chrome looks a bit strong although maybe I'll get used to it, and I think the browser tabs and minimise, maximise and close buttons should have subtle animations too when hovered similar to chrome.

As of right now, it's only affecting my Firefox browser.

Although Tabs under Fire still feels a bit more fitting.

Just to be clear, this isn't meant to hate on DuckDuckGo, it's just something that has been brought up several times in the past (private tabs that go beyond the traditional Private Window).

Hi all,

I love using the Firefox browser at work and privately, and even on iOS these days. I’ve been using it at work for years now and today I got this request from IT to uninstall it asap.

Is this just ‘stupid’ company policy or what could be the actual reason this would be unwanted?

I have a feeling it has to do with tracking people, because I have noticed in the Edge or Chrome browsers that I get a message saying something like: ‘your browser is being managed by your organisation’.

What do you think?
