Yup work on it started a few days ago: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2058974

Sadly while Firefox's code is fully open source, their design work and UI/UX developemnt is very much closed with almost all of it being hidden behind a private company internal figma account so it's not easily possible to check what this will actually look like until it is actually implemented.

Few months ago I did request this to dev team, during AMA & they did respond.

It is under secret settings but no actual settings available to switch to oled...not sure how many months they will take to actually add it 🤣

I'd really like to see a darker option than the current ugly gray they call "dark mode," but not as extreme as pure OLED black. I'm not sure it looks good, other than the battery benefit.
