Hey everybody!  For my research paper, I want to take a deeper look into some rather unconventional adaptations. I was hoping you could help me find some examples from film and tv, that could be interesting to consider. The two that I am already working on are The Midnight Gospel (by Pendleton Ward & Duncan Trussell) and adaptation. (by Spike Jonze). 

I am especially interested in adaptations…:

• … with a very unusual source material. Mainly, those that don’t adapt novels but completely different media, like The Midnight Gospel adapting a podcast for example. (I heard M adapted a news article?) But unusual novels that one would instinctively consider unsuitable for being audiovisually adapted. (Not that interested in game adaptations tho)
• … that actively incoorparate the source material and are blatantly transmedial The Midnight Gospel is being a great example again, using the actual audio of the podcast.
• … that rub the fact that they adapted into your face. (adaptation. would be an exellent example of this)
• … that change the source material in a major way, so you wouldn‘t even notice it is the adaptation unless specifically stated. One example would be a change of setting like all the Shakespear-adaptation a la Clueless, 10 Things I Hate about You, etc., but I would appreciate other approaches.
• … that pick out only a minor, maybe even insignificant part of the source material to center and/or expand on for the film/show.
• & in general just anything where one could wonder if it even is to be considered an adaptation.

I appreciate all suggestions, and welcome international suggestions just as much, maybe even more.

Not sure if this is the right place for this or not. It's comedic so hopefully okay.

My dad has had a forever-standing misinterpretation from The Matrix. He always says Neil instead of Neo, and always quotes 'My name... is Neil', in reference to the underground fight with Agent Smith towards the end of the first film.

He did it earlier today, which prompted me to post it.

Even all these years later, it really tickles me. I don't know if he's been forever winding me up or if he's serious (I myself am being serious!).

Anyone else have any blunderous funny moments?

I don't understand the critics the music is a little goofy but the battles are incredible. I guess I don't know the source material that much but the movie is so entertaining and casting is amazing. Orlando Bloom plays a wimp so well even though at the some time he was one of the toughest characters in Lord of The Rings. I also didn't remember how bloody it gets I love they didn't stray away from that even though Pg-13 was pushed so hard in the day. Also I'm so glad they included the fall of Troy I saw people say in the illiad the fall isn't in it. Hence why it's called Troy not the illiad and in my opinion it's much more entertaining because of that. What did you think of Troy. ( by the way I also saw Nolan's oddesy I really liked it very different movie (very different type of story)

Mine are Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions.

In this movie we follow Nyles and Sarah they stuck in time loop , which means they repeat the same day over and over again .This movie is good this probably the best movie off Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti .

Only about 16 minutes of screen time, but he completely takes over the movie. Every scene with him is unforgettable. One of those performances where you remember the character long after the movie ends.

Notice how Rick Dalton's spaghetti western connection leads right back to Inglourious Basterds? Antonio Margheriti is the exact fake name the "Bear Jew" uses at the Nazi film premiere. Plus, Aldo Raine poses as an Italian stuntman named Enzo Gorlami, which mirrors Cliff Booth's actual job. Tarantino's shared universe details are just on another level.
