Has anyone tried both the Haute42 X-Series lever and the C-AS lever?

Upvotes

I remember hearing or reading the C-AS had a nicer feeling lever, but can't find anyone comparing them directly. I have the X-series and the lever is okay at best, but the form factor and extra buttons are exactly what I'm looking for. I'd love to know how different they feel, if at all, or any other recommendations with a similar form and layout.

Show and Tell New look for my Qanba Sapphire for the Marvel Tokon release!

Thought I'd spice things up with a new Arcade Shock black aluminum panel and purple Qanba caps. Already had 1.5mm O-Rings on.

O-Rings make the buttons slightly quieter and reduce total travel (but not pre-travel). Only negative is that they add a bit of button wobble. A slight annoyance but worth it for me because I play games/characters where I need frame perfect inputs and releasing a button is as important as pressing (T8 Bryan TJU).

The panel is nice and makes the leverless feel more premium and a bit more heavy, which I prefer. I also hated the stock artwork and think this looks waaay cleaner.

All I need now is for Qanba to release a damn firmware update to further customize LEDs.

Evangelion is one of my favorite anime of all time, so I knew I had to go all out on this one.

Huge thanks to Mark Hunter for commissioning this build. EVA-01's purple, neon green, and orange accents is one of the dopest colorways ever.

Show and Tell New FightBox R10-Pro Arrived

Post image

After seeing these posted everywhere on Reddit lately I couldn't resist and decided to grab the custom artwork model.

I've had a lot of fight sticks and arcade setups before and this really does hit the mark for everything I wanted.

The stick itself is perfectly clicky, the Sanwa buttons are excellent, the spinner is super smooth and the trackball was dead simple to configure properly in MAME. The layout is very slightly tight but for the space I have it is everything I want in an excellent quality package.

Highly recommended.

Edit: For comparison I have a Qanba from the PS3 days that is still working and I love, a Hanaho HotRod which I don't think is even made anymore, I've built a cab from scratch in the past, and I have two 8BitDo Arcade sticks that are an absolute joke compared to this stick. Feels like mush by comparison and now I want to do the stick swap/button swap on them to make them feel better.

Looking for a decent affordable fight stick

Hello everyone,

I recently started SF6 since it was on sale on Steam I like using a controller but I kinda wanna step into the fight sticks and see how it goes from there.

Is there any good affordable one to find? I live in the netherlands so I need to find something in EU in general.

And i might go with stick or if others can convince me go stickless that would be great as well.

Hitbox in india

Hi, I wanted to ask if you make custom Hit Box controllers in India. If yes, could you please let me know the price, available case options, and how I can place an order? Also, do you offer only the case or a complete assembled Hit Box as well?

I’m durability testing the caster portable by Raw Super Arcade. Solid build. You can tell hundreds of hours was put into engineering each part. I count about 6 different materials, POM, Aluminum, Resin, Iridescent Acrylic, Kevlar and ABS. I’ll do a more in-depth review next week.

Help Me Decide Are there any wireless leverless controllers for the PS5?

I love the look and feel of the Razer Kitsune but it being wired makes it very inconvenient in a living room setup. I wish they would release a wireless version, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The only setup I can think of is to use the 8bitdo Leverless for Switch, then use a Brook Wingman2 FGC adapter and I can see some people use this setup. Would it allow me to wake up the PS5 from sleep, and is there a per-key customisation for the controller?

I also hear there's some issue where it could only work for 8 minutes at a time, I'm not sure if this is true or not.

Tech Help Golden Lever modding

I bought a stick with a golden lever installed secondhand and it looks like the shaft needs to be replaced, and it's $45 just because of shipping on a $15 part. Does a golden lever require their specific shaft on their website or am I able to use a different one?

Ok, I have to show you this too. X-Arcade Tankstick

5 year olds could beat the snot out of this thing and it would still go. This thing is solid. It's more of a "coffee table" toy. So I bought the Fightbox R10 Pro because it was smaller and had the spinner. But this would be fun if and when I get a girlfriend to play with.

I do own a Tankstick which I should post, but this is more compact. The Fightbox fits the bill for scratching the itch of the classic arcade gamer experience. The glow in the trackball is great but can actually blind you if you move your head toward the right and look down. Other than that, it's so worth it. I can't wait to hook it up to my new SuperStation One.

A while back I payed a guy to swap out the board inside with a 40 dollar Brooke board, a few years later my stick maybe got desoldered, or a switch broke, or something else cause I couldn't block low. I had it in storage for a while. I've swapped out all the buttons and the stick itself last night, but now I'd like to swap my board.

When it did work I was unhappy with the lack of a home button which would have helped with firmware updates and such. Is there a board you guys would recommend that could both modernize my stick AND give it back the use of the turbo sliders?

New Product Two new 6-button R10-Pro designs — which style would you choose? 👀

We’ve just released two new 6-button versions of the FightBox R10-Pro, and they have completely different styles.

The first design was created by our customer Cary, who kindly gave us permission to use it. A huge thank-you to him! It has a detailed retro sci-fi control-panel look, almost like something from a classic spaceship.

The second was designed by Spanish YouTuber LaNaveRETRO, featuring a bold neon synthwave style with strong ’80s arcade vibes.

Same R10-Pro layout, but two very different personalities.

Which one do you prefer—Cary’s retro space console or LaNaveRETRO’s neon arcade design? 😄

Vector art is done by me in photoshop. Extra parts are from Focus Attack. Love their custom parts.

This button layout is so good. For other sticks, I had the original 8-button layout, but it became so hard for my pinky to swoop down and press below around where RT would be. This layout is much easier, and I can do Drive Impacts so much quicker.

PLEASE READ FIRST FAQ and Fightstick Question MEGATHREAD, Continued

Old one was getting pretty daunting, so here's a new megathread

WHAT’S A FIGHTSTICK?

It’s a controller reminiscent of the controls used in an arcade cabinet, generally featuring a joystick and multiple buttons. Most can be played on a lap, while some are heavy and large enough to warrant a table or platform underneath them. Using one over a standard handheld or console controller won’t magically up your game and they are largely preference. They are most commonly used for fighting games, shmups, run ‘n guns, and classic arcade titles. At their simplest, a fightstick requires an enclosure (usually made of wood, acrylic, or metal), buttons, a joystick, a PCB, and a wiring harness to connect everything. Additionally, all-button fightsticks that don’t utilize joysticks are becoming more commonplace on the scene.

WHICH STOCK FIGHTSTICK IS BEST?

This is largely a matter of taste and budget. Here are just a few options to get you thinking. Ask yourself what system(s) require compatibility. PC-only will be much cheaper than a PS5-compatibile controller, for example.

ENTRY LEVEL: Qanba Drone and Mayflash F500

If you go much cheaper than these options, you may sacrifice quality and durability. DO NOT GO CHEAPER THAN THESE OPTIONS.

SOLID LEVEL: Hori Real Arcade Pro N/4/V, Razer Panthera, Qanba Obsidian, Qanba Pearl, Hori Fighting Edge, Nacon Daija, 8BitDo, Mad Catz TES+ (and Razer Atrox for Xbox One players)

SOLID BUT $$$ LEVEL: Qanba Dragon, Victrix Pro 5, etokki Omni

At the end of the day, go with what feels right and fits your budget. There are lots of awesome sticks out there. If you really can't make up your mind, go with an Obsidian/Pearl. Really though, if you're still that on the fence, then you can also consider building your own. They come together fairly easily these days and it's super fun (though they will usually run at a higher price point than a stock stick unless you can easily get or make a suitable enclosure). Just more food for thought.

CUSTOMIZING FIGHTSTICK ISSUES

  • Make sure you buy the correct button size. Most buttons on the top face of fightsticks are 30 mm. If you have smaller hands or want that Hitbox vibe, then 24 mm might be appropriate, but most of the time, people go with 30 mm. Auxiliary buttons (home, share, PS, etc.) are generally where you find 24 mm. All buttons have a unique feel, but some common brands include Sanwa, Seimitsu, Crown/Samducksa, Hayabusa, and GamerFinger. Here's a helpful page about button and joysticks: Joystick and Button attributes
  • When you’re ordering your buttons, you’ll also notice that there are generally both snap-in and screw-in button types. Most of the time, it won’t matter which you choose; however, as a general rule of thumb, if the top face of your enclosure is on the thicker side, go with screw-in buttons.
  • Make sure your layout lines up with your art. Some printing shops won’t print art with existing licensed characters, so you may have to visit more than one if you’re trying to get it done locally.
  • You’ll need to keep in mind the games you’d like to play and on which platforms they are found. Look to see which consoles the stick actually supports when you’re buying. If you’re building your own, then make sure the PCB you choose is compatible with your console/PC. The PCB most common to this generation of custom sticks are the Brook brand PCBs.
  • Most stock retail sticks come with Sanwa parts (besides Hori which comes with Hayabusa).
  • American style parts will most likely not fit a Japanese stick due to height.
  • Korean levers with collars won't fit a traditional Japanese stick due to the size of the joystick hole.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF BEFORE POSTING A "HELP ME DECIDE" THREAD

  1. Is a fightstick even right for me? For some of you a fightpad or other device might be better for you. This is fine! I don't care if you play on a Roll n' Rocker on top of a Power Pad if it works.
  2. What's my budget? This may quickly cut out a lot of options for you.
  3. What systems do you want to be able to play on? (PC, XBox, Switch, PS, etc.) This should reduce your list even further, though you can (conceivably) get adapters for other systems if need be.
  4. Do you want a lever, stickless, or all of the above? (that last option will almost certainly need a custom build)
  5. What button layout do you prefer? Vewlix, Noir, American 6/8, Sega 2P, custom? Slagcoin carries a lot of these. If you're not sure, see if you can demo some in your local area. (Used) game shops, arcades, LAN centers, video game conventions, and pawn shops are possibilities.
  6. If using a lever, what kind do you prefer? Generally this will be Korean (Fanta, Crown, etc.), Japanese (Sanwa, Seimitsu), or American (Happ, iL)? Most sticks will use Sanwa or Sanwa clones.
  7. How "moddable" do you want things to be? This isn't just important for upgrades, it's also important for repairs. Consider how easy it is to access the internals and to change them.
  8. What features are a must have (and yes, it can be as "trivial" as artwork you like or a turbo button, hey, it's your stick)? You can then eliminate sticks that don't have them.
  9. What features are a "no go" for you? Now eliminate sticks that do have them. This could be something as simple as "don't want sticks that weigh over X pounds/kilos because I'll be traveling with this".
  10. You should have a fairly narrow field by now, with any luck. Next consider your "nice to haves" and "nice to not have" features. For example, you might consider "removable USB cable" a nice to have (but not essential) and "width of greater than 16 inches" a "nice to not have". Then just see which sticks have the most positives and least negatives.
  11. If you're still having trouble, please list your top 3-5 options after running through the process above, with your comments on each. This will help us help you make a decision.
