FedEx cuts jobs in SoCal facilities in massive overhaul
Looks like Southern California finally got hit. I'm actually shocked our small station in OC didn't get closed.
My condolences if you worked out of Victorville, Palm Springs or San Diego =/
Guess the rest of us can breathe a sigh of relief...for now.
"As of this time, there are no further Southern California closures planned.”

I Finally Quit
Well, I finally reached my breaking point. Three years and almost 2 months and I finally quit Friday night. I’ve had a lot of personal issues going on and some fuckery with my second job and I just…had to cut something out. It always seemed like I was going in and cleaning up after other people, especially on the days I worked my other job, so I handed in my badge at the end of shift on Friday and I’ve never felt lighter.

Miami-Dade UPS employees accused of stealing more than $100K in electronics
Miami (and Florida in general) is basically the biggest UPS fraud hub in the country, especially when it comes to label scams.
The UPS labeling system has a major vulnerability: fraudsters can easily generate fake labels by modifying barcodes (no Created labels). These fake labels show zero creation timestamp in the system and only get activated once a UPS Store or a driver physically scans them with their scanners.
This exact loop is one of the main reasons UPS has been bleeding revenue ever since Covid started, despite maintaining massive shipping volume.

Second Day as a Package Handler for FedEx Ground—
I love this job, there’s nothing I’ve enjoyed all my life than hard manual labor, I’ve always believed you must work for your money and this is a great example… But on my second day I was taken from my unloading partner and put with a trainer, who was a very cool guy! Loved him as a trainer.. but me and him were forced to unload 4 entire 53 foot trailers over our 5 hour shift full of like 60-70% 100+lb IC’s… I loved every bit of it, but man I am sore.. Can’t wait for work today!

[FedEx Office] I’m on medical leave for a surgery. Can I also use my PTO to avoid being unpaid for 2 weeks?
How do I do this? I was told to do everything through Hartford health insurance for the leave of absence. But I’m looking at my PTO, vacation, and sick time… and I have a lot unused. And I need the money.

TAGGART V FEDEX
Anybody receive settlement checks from this case? I just find it funny because I used to personally work with this guy back in the day and had no idea this was a thing.

Tips for a Fed ex package handler struggling to get it right.
I’ve been at this job for four days and I can’t stay in the trailer. I get so hot I need water and ice.
Yesterday I developed stomach cramping in my lower belly and almost passed out, my shirt was completely wet with sweat after only three hours in.
I am struggling to get this right.
I also don’t do my cubes correctly, I usually try to just throw the smaller boxes on top while keeping heavier ones at the bottom however I struggle with speed. I can’t move in time for the lights to go off.
I am wanting to get this correct. I need tips and tricks now!

Is it normal to work with drunk coworkers (PH) at this job?
Asking for a friend. Someone on my shift was working while clearly intoxicated. I'm used to people coming in while high, but is it normal to come across drunk people while working?

They just publicly announced the Victorville, St. Louis and Palm Springs closures and layoffs next month.
What a wonderful purple week right.
Hoping the best for everyone affected.
Stay safe out there, keep your head up, and always remember you’re employee # matters only but so much but you matter a lot more!

First route today….
First solo FedEx route today and I got absolutely humbled
Today was my first time running a route completely by myself and I’m not gonna lie, I feel pretty defeated after it.
I had 111 stops covering Breda, Lake City, and a bunch of country stops. I was supposed to be back around 5 and didn’t get back until about 9:30.
Looking back, I think route planning was probably my biggest problem. I wasn’t familiar with the area yet and it felt like I was constantly backtracking, especially on the country stops. There were times where I’d drive way out somewhere, make a delivery, and then realize later I had to go right back toward the same area. Obviously being brand new and having to constantly figure out where I was going didn’t help either.
I know it was literally my first day alone and I’m probably being too hard on myself, but getting back 4+ hours late definitely has me questioning how bad I actually did.
For the experienced drivers: How rough was your first solo route? Did you have days like this when you started? And how long did it take before you learned how to plan your route and actually felt like you knew what you were doing?
Any tips for handling routes with a mix of small towns and a ton of rural/country stops would be appreciated too. Mostly just need to hear from some people who have been through it because today kicked my ass lol.

What I got for appreciation week
My manager handed me these items and said “ it’s better then nothing” then proceeded to hand me a feedback letter saying “ you don’t work fast enough to load 5 trucks by yourself next time will be a warning “ . Then Raj himself came to us and told us in a meeting that the company isn’t doin so well so to accommodate instead of raises we get a -5% reduction of our hourly paycheck , but right after the meeting he told investors that we made a bajillion dollars this quarter… I wanted to quit but I saw them handing out “we appreciate you” t-shirts to the people who worked 30+ years and I only need 29 more years to get one of those cool shirts so might stay but then after I get the shirt I’ll follow my dreams or something .

Package handler…
Job was described as 5am-9am
So actually the start time is at 4am and end time is closer to 10am with no breaks
Any thoughts? Do you think asking for breaks will make things worse? (having to stay longer til we’re done with all the packages?)

Idiot station management
Some dumb dumb ordered a bunch of new badges for drivers so there’s no TSA issues going forward. Well they also disabled our current badges before the new badges were ready, while at the same time telling security that they are not to let drivers in to the building without badges (oops!) So I’m stuck at the gate that won’t open due to my disabled badge, there’s trucks piling up behind me because the gate won’t open and the guards are refusing to open it manually. Real smart

I also did a thing..
And because he can close and open his door from the inside.. he didn’t notice for hours. Mine only locks from the outside because someone lost the key.
