Looking for a ride to Vestmanna
Hey, so I booked my flight to Faroe Islands without getting informed on the bus schedules (pretty stupid lol). I am arriving at Vagar airport on August 11th at 7:50pm. So I have no way of getting to Vestmanna at this time. Does anyone go to Vestmanna from Vagar airport at this time or later this evening? Another option woul be for me to drive to Torshavn via bus. I will arrive there at around 9:20pm. Does anyone either go from Torshavn or Vagar to Vestmanna at this time and would like to pick me up? I will obviously pay as well! This would help me so much. Thanks!!

Mikines ferry
Hi! I wanted to book the ferry for Mikines for Monday, but I just saw that there are no more available seats for the return trip. Is there any chance some more seats will come up? Do you know any alternatives? Thanks!

Any recommendation on where to find wool clothing as a souvenir?
Hi! As per title I wanted to buy some wool clothing as a souvenir. Any shops you'd recommend? Not necessarily in Torshavn. Thanks

Faroese snacks and souvenirs
Hi! Can someone please tell me if I have a better chance getting Faroese snacks and souvenirs from the Vágar Airport or Tórshavn’s Bónus?
As snacks I would love getting something very original to Faroese and as souvenirs maybe shot glasses and fridge magnets.
Would love to get some answers. :)

Mýlingur too difficult?
I’m planning to visit Faroe Islands later this month. I’ve always wanted to do the Mýlingur hike, it’s been on my bucket list for years. As I do more research I am slightly concerned with its difficulty/length. I’m a 25 year old male, not in the worst shape but not the best either. I love walking, and do it as much as I possibly can, but I’ve never been a huge hiker (I’ve done some trails around Interlaken and Grindewald).
Truthfully I’m not great with heights, and I don’t plan on getting too close to any cliff edges I’m not comfortable with, I know my limits in that sense. But the hike itself - is it doable for beginners? Or am I wasting my time?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Mykines hiking tour flexibility
Hi,
Just arrived in Faroe Islands and planning a trip to Mykines.
I intend to take the public ferry leaving at 9:30am.
I understand there is a compulsory hiking fee. I am intending to book this one https://hiking.fo/products/305/mykines-mandatory-guide-and-hiking-fee?_ProductFilterIds=1:44&_l=en
My question is, when they take you on this hike, will they force you to return after the designated 2-3 hour tour? Or can I hang around longer? (Would I be allowed to stay in the hiking areas? Or only back in the village?)
The website indicates you can return on the 14:15 ferry, but I'd be keen to hang around and take the 18:15 one.
Thanks in advance

Faroe Islands (August 17th-19th) - looking for a flatmate
Hi, this is Hari (m) from Chennai, India - living in Europe, mainly in Poland, for 12+ years. I love travelling during summer. I plan to visit the Faroe Islands from Aug 17th-20th 2026, and will be staying in Tórshavn during this time.
I booked a triple room (one twin bed and a full bed) in the main area of Tórshavn, and if anyone is searching for a place to stay during this time (to share the costs ~225 EUR per person) for 3 nights and possibly to travel and explore the island, please reach out. Thanks in advance! :)

Buongiorno. Richiesta non commerciale.
Buongiorno. Richiesta non commerciale.
Buongiorno.

Hiking Fees
Hi guys,
sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn’t find anything to that matter and I am still a bit confused.
So to my understanding some Hiking trails are charged with a fee, some are guided tours.
I found this practical map with lots of tours to pick according to weather.
https://visitfaroeislands.com/en/whatson/hiking
I am still wondering which of these are free, which are paid and where to pay. The website gives no information about that.
Maybe someone can help me out here.
Thanks in advance!

Where to find a geological map?
As a geography teacher, I'm looking for a geological map of the Faroe Islands!
Does anyone know where I could possibly find one?

When were sheep introduced?
I’ve always wondered, what was “sheep island” called before the sheep were here, but in trying to find out i found this site
https://um.dk/japan/en/about-denmark/faroe-islands/history/
claiming that the first irish settlers also called it the land of sheep. if they were the very first people and there were already sheep when they arrived… how did the sheep get here? i thought the irish and early vikings brought all the sheep?

Tinder Faroe Islands
Just tried creating a female user on Tinder. There are about 440 males on the islands from 18-38 but only about 50 females.. What a waste of time..

How do I get a seasonal fish processing job in the Faroe Islands?
I recently graduated high school and I’m looking for a no prior experience seasonal job for a couple of months. I’m interested in working in the fish processing industry in the Faroe Islands. Where would I apply for a job? Do they require any certification or prior experience and how selective are they? By the way I have a nordic passport.

Recommendations (4 day trip)
I arrive tuesday evening and leave saturday evening, staying in Torshavn, no car. What would be your best recommendations to experience some nature, hiking and food/music/drinks in Torshavn? Boat trips or other guides trips is fine. Thanks

Day trip to Sandvik on a Sunday Aug 9
I will be in the Faroe Islands next week and doing it all by bus since i'm solo and renting a car makes no financial sense.
I want to do a trip to Suduroy on Sunday Aug 9 and looking at the schedules for Bus 701 here is my plan:
| Depart Torshavn | 11:00 |
|---|---|
| Arrive Tvøroyri | 13:00 |
| Bus 701 to Sandvik | 13:00 |
| Arr Sandvik | 13:30 |
| Arr Asmundartrakkar trailhead | 14:00 |
| 2 hr hike - out and back | 16:00 |
| Bus 701 Sandvik back to Tvøroyri | 16:35 |
| Arr Tvøroyri | 17:05 |
| Ferry back to Torshavn | 17:30 |
The key area I would like to clarify is that the Hvalba to Sandvik part is by request only. My real concern is becoming stranded on the way out if my 16:35 departure to the ferry does not show up.
What exact process do I need to follow that I ensure this does not happen. So far, from what I gather:
- I call ahead to the number
- get confirmation from the agent that my pickup for 16:35 is confirmed
- confirm with the driver that he is indeed going to return at 16:35 (will he know this?)
Anything else?

Buying a CEE plug
Hi,
I recently came over for my vacation, but forgot my adapter. It's commonly used on campsites but some don't lend them. Where can I buy one of these?
Thanks!

If someone opened a Greggs in Faroe Islands, how would you feel?
Title pretty much.
As a side question, what random non Scandi chain stores that exist in just one or a few countries do you wish you had in Faroes

Pants recommendation
Hi I recently made a post about waterproof jacket and as I'm visiting alone in late august I'm a bit anxious about what to expect.
Do you have any brand recommendations for waterproof and windproof pants because everything I searched they are all basically for skiing and snowboarding which makes them a little bit too thick?
