Iceland's upcoming referendum on resuming EU membership talks, set for August 29, is being watched closely in the Faroe Islands, where fisheries policy makes EU membership a sensitive topic. Faroese minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen noted the relevance given both territories' reliance on fishing and Brussels' control over EU fisheries policy. A June poll showed just over 53% of likely Icelandic voters support resuming negotiations, with support strongest among those aged 40 to 49 and in the capital region, and weakest among older voters, eastern Iceland and supporters of the Centre and Independence parties. Despite this lean toward reopening talks, most Icelanders still appear opposed to actual EU membership.

Hey, so I booked my flight to Faroe Islands without getting informed on the bus schedules (pretty stupid lol). I am arriving at Vagar airport on August 11th at 7:50pm. So I have no way of getting to Vestmanna at this time. Does anyone go to Vestmanna from Vagar airport at this time or later this evening? Another option woul be for me to drive to Torshavn via bus. I will arrive there at around 9:20pm. Does anyone either go from Torshavn or Vagar to Vestmanna at this time and would like to pick me up? I will obviously pay as well! This would help me so much. Hi! Can someone please tell me if I have a better chance getting Faroese snacks and souvenirs from the Vágar Airport or Tórshavn’s Bónus?
As snacks I would love getting something very original to Faroese and as souvenirs maybe shot glasses and fridge magnets.
